    Hey I got a hold of someone at the building but I don't know how long it's going to take to get my catalog and I didn't think this car was out even for you to show this.

    One thing about Tamiya kits is when you open the box and see how beautifully packed the kit is, you don't want to take the parts out, you just want to look at it for a few!!!

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So true. It's always fun to open Tamiya kits - not as fun as some of the older stuff with all the blister packs, but still fun!

    $500 us too much for a plastic toy rc car that has no electrics and you are required to build from scratch like it's a pro grade car kit, now days even some of the WLToys cars come with all metal chassis and shocks and they're assembled with electronics for under $200.....

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the MSRP is only $449, but the street price is around $315. And I'm not sure you can compare a Tamiya car (or anything in that realm - AE, Losi, Tekno, etc) to WLToys vehicle. Sort of a different class of vehicles.

    Does any Tamiya kits get to the level of quality of Kyosho? I just built a re-re Javelin and was blown away by the quality of everything.

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say so. The materials used aren't always on par with other companies but the quality and build are always top notch.

    I think the designers have to take in consideration the ease of repair and replacement. Why would they make so hard to install a battery?

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is a bit over-engineered, however the battery replacement doesn't really take all that long. A few extra steps, sure, but that's just the Tamiya way. Do it a couple times and it's not all that bad.

    • @Competitionx

      All of them have rubber shields, so they'll be good for outdoor use.

    Hi, great video! Would this Avante be good for the race track with jumps? Or is it better to get a proper race buggy like an XRAY or Team Associated? I really like the look of this and that it is a Tamiya.

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did quite a bit of work on my Super Avante and have to say the end result was good but, unfortunately, I don't think it will ever beat a top notch buggy on equal terms. It can certainly hold it's own but those other buggies are bred for racing - they're just much better vehicles as far as performance. That said, I did have a great time on the track with it and, if I wasn't so darn competitive, I'd certainly run it at local racing events.

      @@Competitionx Thanks for the the information. I wasn't going to race competitively just wanted to know for my own fun if it would work well on my local track, taking on the jumps and cornering etc...Or if it was just for driving in open park fields and dirt.

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This buggy would be perfect for backyard jumps or even an open dirt field or lot. Performance is quite good as long as you swap the tires out for something with a little more grip.

    I am really looking forward to this build.. I have one on pre-order and the more videos I see on the car the more I can not wait to build it.. from the running videos I have seen of this chassis it looks like a very capable chassis..
    and the mouldings look amazing

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, just finished up the build and the parts quality is top notch - typical Tamiya. The car seems very overly engineering (again, very Tamiya) but it's so radical is super cool! Can't wait to take it out on a test drive here soon!

      @@Competitionx Can not wait to see that video! sounds like it is going live up to the name Avante :) I have seen alot of people getting upset that Tamiya used the Avante name on this but for me the name belongs on something that is radical and pushes the RC hobby with new ideas

  • @BlackSeaRC
    @BlackSeaRC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very surprised to find an unboxing video so soon. Nice that you got an early sample! I'll be interested to see the kit build. The design is not immediately wowing me but I appreciate what Tamiya has done with this kit and it is of course great to see something new rather than the usual procession of re-re products.

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the design is actually quite amazing, moreso the molding of the plastic parts than the actual functionality. Like you, I do appreciate the ability to make something so crazy that it actually works - hopefully! Should have this buggy out and running soon - can't wait to see it go!

    I would get excited about ball diffs in a 4wd, totally the opposite throw them in the bin

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya, would have preferred sealed fluid-filled gear diffs but it is what it is. I'm not opposed to ball diffs until it comes time to rebuild - hopefully that won't be too much of a hassle removing them.

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think because it's more of a higher end kit. Plus the fact that Tamiya is having a hard time manufacturing ESCs because of the chip shortage. That's my guess...

  • @memememe2674

    What a lot of plastic and no metal for a car with Avante in the name. Lucky there are loads of tamiya fan boys out there, you saps

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, such anger and name calling about the naming convention of a toy car. Sure, it is using the Avante name but as long as the car is good I don't care what they name it. So far, it looks very promising.

    Using Rit dye what color can the yellow wheels be changed to? I’m assuming orange is pretty easy?

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wheels are made from, I think, ABS. That makes them impossible to dye (they'll melt in boiling water). You could paint them I suppose, but then you have to worry about chipping the paint off. I think I'm just going to swap them out, just not sure to what just yet.

    Looks like we finally have a mid-level buggy kit from Tamiya! Also good to see the return of a DF-01/-03 ish design. The material choice, technical design, and price point give me TA-08/TB-05 Pro vibes too.
    Looking at the differentials: would any existing Tamiya gear diff work? Perhaps the M-07's? I haven't seen any official gear diff hop-ups yet.

    1:50 Suspension arms are way too narrow. Especially the front will be prone to slop and crash damage.
