Oh boy, I feel his pain. Brings me back to when I had to have mine removed with my one month old baby at home. It was the hardest recovery. It makes me so nervous for my back surgery in a couple weeks.

Boston, you are so kind and caring to your family. You are going to be such a great partner for some lucky girl! I had my gallbladder out many years ago, and occasionally certain foods and coffee will cause me problems. I’ve noticed if I go all day without eating, then eat a meal on an empty stomach, that’s when it tends to go right through me. You will be fine.

I had the most gallstones the doctor had ever seen. I recovered really fast. Had my gallbladder surgery on a Monday and hosted my whole family for thanksgiving that Thursday. No bloating or gas pains after surgery. I’ve eaten everything now ever since. It’s been 21 years now. So Brock you’ll do fine and won’t have those horrible pains again. 😊

How nice to have your parents and brother with you. I lost both parents by the age of 18. I had to have major surgery when I was 21. I felt so alone. Years later, I, too, had my gallbladder out. I suffered through 2 years of misdiagnosis and weight loss while trying to take care of a toddler. The pain was so bad I felt like I'd drift in and out of unconsciousness. I only had 1 large stone that was hiding in the duct. My last attack was so bad, they removed it just as gangrene was setting in. Thankfully, my son, was safe with his Dad.

I had my gallbladder out just like Brock, it is recommended that you eat light food for two weeks after you have had your surgery. After that he can eat burger, pizza, etc as long as he is aware how his body will react to it. I have a friend who had the same surgery and after a year, when she eats greasy food, she seems to have to run to the bathroom. I got mine removed almost two years ago, and I seem to be fine after eating something heavy like a hamburger. It really depends!! So Brock, don’t feel bummed out about it!!!

Glad you’re on the mend. I had my gallbladder removed almost 4 yrs ago. I said I’d never do it again. I woke up in so much pain. I was setting off the alarm for monitoring my BP. I wasn’t given pain meds until I woke up and was able to tell them my pain level. When asked I said a 20. Unfortunately, most foods went through me very quickly. I was told it takes 3 yrs for your body to adjust being without a GB. It was 3 yrs almost exactly before I didn’t have to run to the bathroom after I ate something. And it was never the same food that triggered a bathroom run. Take care.

The gas pain is no joke! My pain was in my shoulders and collarbone. I was miserable for 5 days. I had my gallbladder put at 15 weeks pregnant, so I think they may have put in a little extra air to be able to work in there. It was so scary but I'm so grateful to have it out.

Brock, Please follow doctor's advice on your diet. I had mine out over two decades ago and didn't have to change my diet at all per the doctor. It was the best decision I ever made. Things I couldn't eat before the surgery, I have been able to eat ever since. Family and friends give lots of advice, but your best source is medical professionals.

I had gallbladder surgery two years ago, but I was in hospital for 5 days. I had one severe attack only but my heart rate was high so I had to be monitored until they could fit me in to the ICU. I only had one gallstone but it was stuck right up at the duct which made my gallbladder very infected! I had zero gas or pain anywhere after it was out, just felt like a fat, bloated frog! Walking around definitely helps with that. I have issues every now and then with food but only if I eat too much junk over a longer period of time, say if I’ve eaten rubbish food for 3 days in a row. You can take bile salts if you have issues with food moving too quickly through you, but it shouldn’t last very long if you are a little bit more mindful of how you eat. Hope you’re well recovered by now!

I got my gall bladder out a couple years ago I was 21. The pain right after is unbearable, he is handling it like a champ. He can def eat whatever he wants he will figure out what foods bother him. Before the surgery i was able to drink coffee, eat spicy foods, and now if i eat those i know the consequence thereafter. But it does get getting used to and he def will want to eat low fat foods and ease into other foods down the road. Prayers for a quick recovery
