I’ve been using the jumper for over a year and it’s pretty darn terrific. Only downside is that the material isn’t super easy to keep clean if you’re in a lot of mud/dirt.
I sort of wondered that Tom. At first I loved it because it was so soft and felt really nice, but I could totally see how it might pickup dirt and mud. Have you tried washing it yet? Wonder how it would handle just getting tossed in the wash machine
On their TH-cam channel they seemed to say you can just put it in a washing machine on cold, then leave it out with all the pockets open. But not sure if that applies to the camera bag too.
IDK about anyone else, but when I watch other people on TH-cam I'm very aware that they're creators. When I watch David's videos I feel more like I'm involved in a friendly conversation. That's nice.
Love seeing your take on this! The jumper was my first camera bag and was solid for a light carry with my crop sensor. Once I started to fill it up, it gets pretty uncomfortable without back padding and those straps. Still love to take it when all I pack is my camera and iPad with minimal accessories. Thanks for the video David!
Man, I totally agree with you Frank! I think with a camera and just a few accessories, it would be perfect. I could totally see how it might get uncomfortable to carry a ton in there for a long period of time. How has it held up structurally for you? Can it take a bit of abuse?

I've had mine for probably around a year and a half now and have liked it quite a bit. The straps are my biggest issue with the bag. Not the most comfortable for me personally, but the overall storage and style are perfect for a minimal look and feel.
So rad to hear that you like it Jay! I could totally see the straps being an issue if it was loaded up and wearing it for awhile. I dig though that it legit just looks like a normal book bag. I feel like I'm going to get way more use out of this thing than I originally thought👍
I have this bag and used it for over a year. Low profile, light weight and large inner volume are the pros. But the materials ( no water proof, gathering dust and dirt plus very hard to clean) , quality of the dividers and the Velcros, relatively flimsy straps, weak or lack of proper reinforcement bottom are the least enjoyable parts of the ownership IMO. This is not a cheap bag if paid in full. With a good discount, it may be a good option as a dry weather light duty day bag. But there are some other better options out there at reasonable price.
THIS, THIS, THIS. I am not semi pro. I want a backpack for day trips with one camera and a spare lens. I then need room for a jumper or raincoat etc. this is what ive been wanting for ages. Good stuff
I've been looking around for a camera bag that isn't super bulky but can fit a good amount into it, once again you somehow read my mind and made a video on the subject! Great video and great telepathy skills! Love the channel!
I have used the Osprey Manta 32 for years and love it. Lots of pockets, does not say "I am a camera bag" to loudly. I hike and backpack a lot so it fits my needs. Thanks for the vid though!
@@DavidManningvlog The only thing that goes in the pack typically are my additional lenses, the Canon nifty 50, 22 f/2, and the kit lens 15-45. Batteries and filters go in my Helikon-Tex Numbat chest pack for easy access. I carry my camera, M50, on the shoulder strap using the Peak Design clip. GoPro is what I use for pretty much all my outdoor videos. And for that, thanks to you and your review, I use Snapmounts on everything from my chest pack, dashboard in my rigs, the dog, to my trekking poles and my Ulanzi mini tripod (Love those things. ) Jobi sucks and fall apart. Also, they have the Brevite "Runner" which is almost exactly the same version but with a magnetic flap top instead of a zipper top. I made a review on it on my channel and was also pleasantly surprised how much fit in there, And how it felt lighter somehow!!
I have the Brevite Scout II and it's perfect. Weather sealed and very clean. Gonna assume they discontinued it, but it was the best one imo. It had a removable cube as well.
Was it a full removable cube? Because I feel like that's the main thing that would make this bag better. It's rad that the dividers pop out so easily, but then it's a pain having to set them back up again. A full cube that you could pull in and out would be dope!
Hey Thank you very much for the Insight. I would love to get the Bag :) My only question: The way you arrange the dividers, would it fit the R5 mounted with the RF24-70 (mounted), RF85 1.2 (upper cube), RF50.12 (lower cube) & EF35mm 1.4 with the adapter (side cube)? Without using the Daypack compartment
Random question. How long of a video clip in a video should be or general rule of thumb? In other words how long before the veiwer gets bored of a clip? If that makes sense. thanks Love your videos!
Solid question Tyson! That's going to absolutely depend on the type of video that you're making and what the intended pacing is. There's films that have ten minute shots that are incredible and other films that have a seven second shot and it feels like an eternity. Director's choice man, but I think when you watch back your video, if there's any moment when you're bored hearing yourself talk, cut that out👍
Nice little day pack for around town but it lacks the stiffer structure necessary to actually carry camera gear safely. Unfortunately the bag quickly loses its shape when loaded with cameras/lenses. The dividers are overly long and flexibly so my gear ends up piled up at the bottom of the bag. Would work much better with a camera cube of some sort. It's a shame as the bag is quite handsome and a joy to use and carry otherwise. Little help for v3 Brevitē?
The cost is a factor. But I’ve bought less expensive shirts that look good for a short while but don’t last. I wear Cuts even to the business meetings with a sports jacket. They are very versatile and look amazing.
As far as a camera backpack that doesn't look like a camera backpack this nails it. The recurring thing I hear, and it's a huge con, is the Velcro is pretty flimsy. Camera gear shifts around which is def not what you want for your gear. If the pads were sturdier and the velcro was stronger I would buy this bag.
@@DavidManningvlog There's a medium sized cube that fits in on the bottom or a smaller one that actually clips into the top to leave the bigger bottom section open.
Surprised you didn’t recommend the Peak Design Everyday Backpack, especially either 20L or one of the Zip options. Appreciate that they aren’t for everyone though.
The Peak Design was my main bag for a couple years and I love that thing. Especially the easy access! I don't think it's super stealth as to not look like a camera bag though. For this one, I was looking for a bag that legit just looks like a book bag, but then can hold a surprising amount of stuff👍

great video man, can never have enough varying backpacks in my eyes! Once I arrive, bring out the smaller backpack with GoPro, Insta360 1 R, selfie sticks, attachments etc and a water bottle (so I don't carry a massive load of things). One thing I can't quite understand is why popular youtubers only endorse ridiculously expensive options of items that shouldn't be (backpacks, tripods, etc.) A minimalist backpack for $169?? No thanks. I understand that you pay for quality but in a lot of cases these exorbitant prices for everyday items doesn't always equate to that. Totally get that point Alex and Olena! There's multiple factors that weigh into that, but budget is for sure one of them. I think to most photographers $169 for any sort of bag is a pretty solid and affordable price. What I stuffed in there in this video, with laptop included, is around ten thousand dollars worth of gear, so in comparison, the bag price is GREAT!
