The thing is... all these games would have been easier if he... y'know... kept the rhythm by counting Trust me,,, it helps. Especially in games like Exhibition Match and Catch of the Day
@@drawnwithlove3499 Yes and no, kind of. I agree with you on Exhibition Match but in most cases if you're struggling with the rhythm to begin with it's going to be hard to keep that counting in time. I also think it depends heavily on the person. I know I tend to do worse on many of these counting to myself versus letting the music take me, but I also wouldn't say I have bad rhythm.
Fun fact: Love Rap is so difficult in English because the way it’s translated basically makes the audio cues in the voices entirely silent, making it much harder to know when to hit the note. If you learn to play it in Japanese it’s actually very easy
The second remix was basically every calculus II test I had in college. "It's okay, I'm pretty good at everything except monkey watch" The test: 50% MONKEY WATCH
my favorite parts of this are every time RT goes for the Perfects or goes "we're gonna focus this time! we're gonna get it!" and then immediately misses the very first beat
Fun science fact! The "tutorial" at the start was actually the game being clever, televisions all have different levels of input delay so what you were actually doing was a screen calibration
For those curious, the way Monkey Watch works is: - Normal monkeys: Every other beat - one - *TWO* - one - *TWO* - Purple monkeys: Two "offbeats" in a row. An "offbeat" is the point directly between two beats, so if you're counting to the beat of a song, "one and two and three and four and", the "ands" are the off-beats. You can see how this works in the minigame Lockstep from Rhythm Heaven DS. So the transition looks something like this: one - *TWO* - one - *TWO* one *AND* two *AND* one - *TWO* - one - *TWO*
I was wondering why those purple monkeys were there. I used to be in show choir in high school and show choir for senior year, and even today, off-beats always catches me off-guard.

29:02 “There’s actually a rhythm to that” I’m glad half an hour in RT realizes there’s a rhythm aspect to this rhythm game (Im kidding, it’s a hard game!)
I sat there judging him for his lack of rhythm like “how could you be THAT bad” and then I remembered I set my hair on fire an hour ago so I guess we’re all good at different things.
There are no triplets, it seems you're referring to dotted-eighths like 20:31. Dotted eighths are 3/4 of a beat, while triplets would be 1/3 or 2/3 or some third of a beat. The difference is 3 on the top or bottom fraction number.
@@SynoPTLgonna be real with you, music theory has never been my thing, but I have been able to sing competitively for internationally during my time. So while I think I can hear what you’re saying, I can say from my experience as a choral singer that the difference is pretty minor to me and would require a couple hours of practice to get down confidentially. So I still find RT’s ability to do that part and only that part well pretty funny.
Fun fact: this game has a different name in every region, in Japan it’s called “minna no rhythm tengoku” in America it’s called “rhythm heaven fever” in Europe it’s called “beat the beat rhythm paradise” and in Korea it’s name roughly translates to “Rhythm World Wii”
Rhythm Heaven endscreens be like: “Wow you cured cancer, and saved many lives! You pushed the bounds of science, and will be wroten down in history! Everyone loves you! ... but still just *OK.* “ Edit: English is my first language, and no, I am not changing the "wroten".
the samurai Ok screen, after saving an entire village of a monster invasion is the woman and the kid laughing in a corner saying I heard he is an "Ok" samurai
Thanks for this video, it convinced me to go do my rhythm homework because I was cringing so hard and needed a reset! That said I know rhythm video games can be hell even if you’re good at rhythm so truly I am deeply impressed with your perseverance
Ok I made this joke but the donkdonk was really impressive - I’m a musician in college and I know people in years above me who can’t switch between eighths and triplets as well as rt did!
It's sad that a lot of people either don't know about or write off Rhythm Paradise/Heaven as a bad game. I don't think I've met one person in my life who has played or liked this game and that's sad.
@@Hendothermic I completely agree.. to lift your spirits I recommend watching the “Rhythm Heaven Reanimated” video :) It’s a mashup of some iconic remixes as well as a collaboration amongst talented animators. It’s a beautiful love letter to the series, and Ko Takeuchi even saw it!!

I thought everyone was just commenting about his rythmn as a joke with the title, but after watching the video I realize that he actually has terrible rythmn on this game lmao Edit: after two months I came back to this video to see that I mispelt rhythm and I choose to live with this mistake
I never thought a video this long would be something I come back to multiple times and rewatch in its entirety to ward off the existential despair encroaching on my psyche if for only a small period of eternity
YESS!!! i tried to get my friend to play hole in one on my ds, and she was so bad at it, and i was like how??? it comes so naturally to me but not to others and its so strange
I literally just last night was trying to teach my two friends, who have never played an instrument, how to count beats and what a measure is, and it was so freaking hard to do because rhythm just comes to intuitively to me LOL I think they got it kinda by the end though which was cool to watch!!
I just want to take a moment and appreciate the editing in this. Unless you're actively listening for it, or looking for it, the cuts within the songs themselves are so smooth that sometimes I think it's the full song being played without realising there was a cut midway through. The beat stays intact and most of the time the song itself sounds like it fits. The music in this game obviously helps with this due to the way the songs are basically a bunch of little pieces put together in order, but it's still amazing how unless I actively pay attention and almost ignore the video, at no point do I feel like I'm being taken out of the songs or the rhythm.
Does "actively listening for it" include knowing the songs and therefore noticing the cuts? Before I knew the songs I could barely tell there was a cut in them
One of the most heartwarming things is that he's gotten over his insecurities. I personally don't find anything about him wrong and I hated it when he thought that he looked Terrible. Keep going rt. Were all with ya

I imagine a world like Rhythm Heaven, where every simple action like walking eating have to follow the rhythm to a never-ending song. And if you even dare to fail at matching a single beat, you get executed. That would be epic.
Jokes about him being bad at this aside. This was pretty encouraging to watch for somebody with rhythm problems. Like you did ok and that's already pretty good! And it was so good to see how you kept trying, celebrating and taking small wins. You go, big guy!
Yeah the people trash talking him are either just as bad and looking for ego boosts, or were just as bad as him at the start. This game is really hard!
@@Edgeperor dude stop childish assumptions, not everyone wants to practice rhythm 24/7 like some of you, get a life. And you also liked your own comment because nobody else would.
i havent seen what all he's edited in yet, but keep in mind the actual stream itself was a little over 8 hours long with no breaks iirc, which i mean is still really good, 50 rhythm levels, all different, done in an 8 hour session for like the first rhythm based game every played? that's good
As someone who has been a musician for years and is addicted to rhythm games, but let’s say if I was doing a puzzle game that was all about math I would have just given up!!! But you did so well and you kept with it!! And your energy made me feel so positive I was rooting for you the whole way!!!! Great job Dan!!

Right you are. I remember dad getting mad at me for covering the TV screen while he was playing Hole in One. If only he knew you can play this game while literally staring out in the sky haha
