    This was the best era for rap in my opinion. They actually cared and enjoyed it. Today it seems like it's just about making money. Rapper's Delight came out in 1979, so close to the 80s. Also, as far as TV shows go the only one I know of is if you watched Scrubs. Main characters got a Sugar Hill Gang alarm clock that played this song, which actually had a cameo by them playing the song.

    This was late 70s. I was 8 y.o. when this came out. Damn I'm an old lady!! The Sugarhill Gang were the ones that everyone outside of NY, got their first hit of rap. They paved the way for the rest to feed the addicted. With their lyrical wizardry & hypnotic bass hits.

    • @ldybozz
      @ldybozz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cosmo-Kramer where did you read that I said it didn't? People outside of New York didn't get to experience what New York did. We didn't have all the underground parties that got to see & hear rap coming up. We only got what was "safe" for radio play. Which wasn't much.

    • @Cosmo-Kramer
      @Cosmo-Kramer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ldybozz The key word is "underground". Rap was only known to that tiny community in NYC before, "Rapper's Delight". The city of NY at-large was introduced to rap the same time and way the rest of the nation was, when, "Rapper's Delight", was released in the autumn of '79.
