- If you are new to War Thunder and want to play naval ships, this guide is for you! If you have ever played WoWS I have a few tips, especially for you. I'm sorry this video is quite long; I would rather explain things to you while doing the actions in-game than try to finish it all in 10 minutes. I'm always interested in feedback, good and bad, so please let me know what you think! - Gunship.

Please don’t feel the need to apologize for the length of your video. I’ve been playing War Thunder obsessively for about two years now, mostly Air, a little ground, and practically zero naval battles, I’ve maybe played two naval matches. I’ve been thinking about giving Naval a try, and that’s how I came across this video, and I was ecstatic to find an hour long video that was made just two months ago, exactly the type of video I was hoping to find. Thank you so much sir for your hard work, I appreciate it very much.

I got a 30% off for the Wilkinson so I bought it, I thought for now I could practice and research some of the other ships, I only have 2.0 BR and thought it would help, I can get the Moffat in the summer sale but for now it was cheap, now I have to figure out aiming without getting killed really fast! ;D
Thanks for the guide! As a long time war thunder player, I would have killed for a guide like this when I started nearly 9 years ago. The importance of crew and skills is something that doesn't get brought up enough or explained well regardless of the game mode.
can just that during some sales they put a 180 day premium option for around 20$, also it's cheaper to buy gold off of gaijins website instead of steam, reason for that is because steam takes 40% of their money so its more expensive to buy in-game

I played Wows a lot and I play normally now WT Ground RB a lot. I want to test WT Navel. I think more people should see this guide. Thank you very much. This video helped me a lot.
Also out of curiosity but what are auxiliary weapons for example on British ships they have these rocket launchers

Very interesting video and I learnt a lot, even I spent already hundreds of hours in War Thunder, but I started the naval battles right now. I like to ask if you can make a video which explains the different ammunition for the naval battles and how to use it right. Thanks in advance.
I remember this game , tried tanks version of it one christmas a few years ago . liked it more than the world of warships one
So how do i play realistic? I dont have the option 😅
Do you recommend using higher pen lower dmg SP or lower pen higher dmg SP on USS Moffet? Also because fuze shells are the exact same just with fuze which doesnt work on ships you can use it both as anti ship he and anti air he.
SAP 60% (higher pen), HE 30%, proximity 10% - HE vs boats, SAP vs DD and above, Prox vs planes and really small boats
Damn good video. Earned a sub and got a like of course. I started playing last week thanks these tips should help haha I’m not doing great. I think I will switch from Italian blue water to Russian like you recommend.

On Coral Islands map, A,C, is the best option for Costal ;) and then you can flank enemy!

All of a sudden the ai gunners don't shoot one of my 2.3 boats, can you please tell my why or how I can fix it

so which nation is the best main gun and armor in avarage ?
That is not easy to answer. Russia is good generally.
I only find one unamned game mode for Naval. And the EC in Sim tab. How do I unluck the RB mode?
RB mode is unlocked by default. Under the red Battle button you should be able to drop down and select RB Naval.
@@Gunship nah. You need to play a few arcade games to unlock RB

Should like bring in less ammunition like in ground battles?
Hi, as far as I know, the amount of ammo on ships does not matter, but removing torpedoes does have an effect. On some older battleships, torpedoes are not that useful, so here you could gain a small advantage by un-selecting them.

Hey there watching you video because I want to get into navel more but my god its so frustrating. My aim is always over hitting and when I try to bring my aim down. There green aim marker doesn't seem to want to come closer towards me. For example. A ship is 8km away. I aim and it over hits. So I try to bring the green aim marker towards me but it doesn't do anything. It just stays at the over hitting mark
Hi Dave, make sure you select the target first; that should then zero in on the target (the green marker). Second, you need to determine if the distance is closing (for example you are both sailing towards each other), in that case, you need to shoot in front of the target to hit. Use 100 meters per 5 km, for example target is 10 km away, moving closer, aiming at 9.8 km shoot, see where the shells land and then correct accordingly. Your ship is also subject to the sea (waves), so if it is not plain sailing, you may find you constantly have to adjust your distance. Generally, you must adjust every shot you take as the distance between your ship changes. Over time this becomes second nature.

@@daveshilling6610 depends on your skill but the grind really kicks up once you start researching them.
If you have premium account with the premiums… probably 1 to 2 weeks for the average player. If you are a crackhead Thunder gamer (like me) maybe half that 2 to 5 days.
Edit:
Without premium time it’s probably not worth the time your putting in. It will take far longer than with premium, which sucks obviously.

the blue water and coastal fleet premium rank 1 ships are very cheap, they only cost 250 golden eagles, do you recommend any of them? Or invest only in level 3 above? I have a premium account, because I've been playing with tanks for 2 years and now, after the changes, the ships were very good to play. Thanks for this video it's the best I've found! a hug from Brazil!
Thanks for your comments; I'm glad you found the video useful; sorry it's so long. I would recommend the Rank 3 premium ships as the best value for earning SL, RP and doing daily tasks.

If you already had premium time you don't need low tier premium ships since you can unlock to rank 3 in few hours. You can invest on 5.0 premium like USS Moffet.
if you gonna play naval pick usa. just pick usa. because the other countries only had fishing boats and rifle calibre guns
So should I use the same crew slots for my blue water and coastal?
Yes, as this will allow you to gain more crew point for these slots. Minimum 3 slots as you have 3 spawn, but 4 slots are also good as sometimes you need 3 big ships and 1 fast costal ship, so you have options for whatever map comes your way.

Get more people to play Naval, unfortunately the game mode is not high on Gaijin's to do list sadly.
@@Gunship I mean there is only bots and I cant choose between arcade and realistic. I dont think Im getting the real matches

@@Gunship Maybe. I haven't played many naval battles yet, but I have done maybe 2 or 3. So I dont know how many I need to do. I wish the game would explain it a little lol.

what? world of warships you have to judge every part of the shot. and it doesnt tell you exactly where to aim to hit like WT does
Ummm. There’s a reason most guide videos are under 10 minutes. People will look at the 1 hr plus length and go “Nope. I’ll watch somebody else’s guides.”
If you have a lot to explain, breaking it down into several parts is a much better way than to bunch it all up into a very long video imo.
Probably a good idea, but if you can't handle 1hr tutorial about War Thunder Navy, then probably this game is not for you... And I do believe Gunship makes a very good one :)
@@lord_igorious1426 LOL I know WT naval very well already thank you. And I have around 3000 battles in WT already. Just think not many people would want to watch such a long video, especially if it's a guide.

This Game is only for Losers. Matchmaker will make you lose the most Matches. It has too many Bugs so you will not have much fun with this game. I have also no fun.
Speak for yourself. I've played this game for the last 9 years. Nearly exclusively for the last 4. I, and many others enjoy War Thunder. Is it perfect? No, few games are. But, it's constantly being updated and improved upon. If it's so bad it wouldn't have lasted a decade and still be relevant.
