Hi guys, Let me know if this was helpful or not. Should I have focussed on something special more than I did? Did I forget something? What was the most helpful thing in this guide? etc etc...
Definitely helpful! Gonna check auto lock is disabled, I think it's been screwing me over... I didn't know about ranging shots until recently, its definitely important to teach this stuff.
Very helpful! I've had my Pola since Italy's TT debuted, and I still allowed myself to be bothered by Auto Lock without ever thinking there was a setting to even turn that off. Out of curiosity, I find myself constantly spamming my Lock Target key (X) to re-update the fixed range to the target so that I can hold a fixed lead on a target rather than actually adjust my point of aim with scroll wheel/mouse. Is this something you also do, or do you strictly lock the target once and adjust your aim with scroll wheel as you mention in Section 3?
@@sixtiesspiderman6268 I also Update my Lock on from time to time but it is mostly scrolling to have the best Point of aim when firing the full salvos. Cruisers Like Pola are best used Like that
The most difficult part of aiming is that you have to consider how to lead the target while compensating for your own direction of travel. It is very realistic for sure.
Learn to ripple fire so you aren't just firing one single volley. Set up your right mouse button to fire a Ranging shot, that will let you fire a single shot from your cannons and once your have them at all different times and your range and lead set you can just start using your right mouse button and it will fire them in ripples till you pause long enough for them all to reload or switch ammo types.
Easy....your target goes the opposite direction, you' ll have to lead. Going the Same direction but target is slower, do a lag aming. Roughly the Same speed,AIM Center Mass.
Came back to Naval after a two years hiatus because Ground RB had beome so unbalanced and toxic. Took me about a month to learn all of this just by playing. Once you get the hang of it you can determine your range and lead before you have a firing solution. Especially satisfying in ships like the Glorious.
Ripple fire if ur in ships with fast reload rate. (I mained America) it is very effective at getting hits and kills if u pay attention to the fall of ur shots.
I highly recommend this video as it's the right starting of the right way to learn how to play with the navy in war thunder. Much respect to you my friend, this is such a great video!
Biggest thing to me is making sure to reduce the distance by 200m. Can be more can be less depending if one is getting closer (so reduce aiming distance more with fast ships going straight at each other it can sometimes be up to 700m less aiming distance from calculated distance), approx steady (keep distance as game suggest with maybe 100m less to hit the water line), and slightly increase if enemy is getting further away.
I would say the most difficult part for me is to not always follow the cheveron that shows the middle of the ship, but to aim infront/behind it to get the ammo detonation
Thanks for the great vid. It's been awhile now since someone did a good break down on aiming in navel. More vids like this are a great help. Keep up the good work.😊
Thank you for your super useful guide, I am now able to feel more confident to play Naval RB and deal tons of accurate damages and lots of kill assists.
Thankfully it didn’t take me long to learn how to hit targets consistently, but I had to come here to learn what components I should actually be aiming for as I’ve put it off for far longer than I probably should have 😂
I'm a little slow in discovering your channel, but good to see someone making naval vids. I wanted to comment (even though this is a few months old) and add a tip you seemed to have missed: Direction correction. You'll find it in the control settings for naval, and it allows you to manually adjust the horizontal position of the shell drop indicator relative to the carat. It makes aiming a lot easier as you can simple line up the lead indicator and aim carat and adjust the shell drop left or right to put the rounds where you want them. But it is most incredibly useful when aiming during turns as it allows you to compensate for the drift of the shell drop indicator by bringing it back where you want it. I use a Razer OrbWeaver, so I have d-pad under my thumb that I have bound to distance and direction correction, but you could either bind it to the arrow keys and bind right contol or num-pad 0 to fire or bind direction correction to mouse thumb buttons if you have them.
Beethoven's 7'th Symphony, 2nd Movement - waaaay too intense and emotional a piece of music when one is trying to focus on your instructions! Sadly, it's extremely unknown to most. A lot of people can recognize at least the first movement of the 5'th, the 1'st and the Choral sections of the 9'th (and maybe vaguely part of the Scherzo), and even fewer than that maybe the first few notes of the 6'th rings a bell (I think i'm being extremely generous for a lot of the world). The 7'th is utterly unique and absolutely worth knowing. I'm also partial to the 3'rd and 6'th (so if you were going to cut my arm off if I didn't choose my favorites it would be - in no particular order - 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9). I don't know why i'm writing all this. Adderall is a hell of a med. Good choice of music for taste, poorly chosen for the mood of trying to mess around with controls in a video game :D
A problem i have with aiming in naval is that the distance jumps. lets say a target is 8.96 km away i can hold my mouse still and the distance still changes to 8.98 then to 8.94 it is a bit annoying. does have anyone a fix for this?
I ve been playing naval for a long while now and still I havent understood a thing about it. You d easily mistake me for a bot player. First of all I dont understand what the conditions for getting a kill are, sometimes you shoot someone over and over and he never dies, sometimes he randomly dies with a few salvos. Also, what the different shells do exactly and what you should use is not really clear for me.
If your new, just go for long range engagement and try to hit the enemy ships bridge. If you knock the bridge out they cant aim. This make it easy for your team to finish off the ship.
I play only acade battles since realistic mode is way to difficult , and even acade I still find myself having a super hard time to actually hit the target were I want it .
From my experience To hit target at Same position asap, I use ranging shot fire one by one until complete salvo this is useful when try to hit the ammorack of bigship and more chance to direct hit smol boat (You can setting turret raging shot too in Control Menu that Ratte show in the 4:48)
What's the best key binding for an xbox controller for the distance correction? Right now I'm using LB+Dpad down and up. But I don't know how to modify how much it changes the range or how fast it repeats!!! The aiming correction gets waaay off really really fast.
For me I am constantly struggling to even have any idea where to aim vertically because there used to be a reticle that shows you where you’re supposed to aim has two of them: one on the horizontal axis, and one on the vertical axis. A year or so afterwards, they got rid of the vertical reticle for no explicable reason. I’ve even had a fight the other day against a Kavkaz and my shells would constantly fly over the shop no later how lower and lower I aimed. It is extremely frustrating as almost every guide either was done with the aiming hud that no longer exists, or is a guide that doesn’t help me in the slightest by going “oh adjust your settings”. Which does not help as I had no issues aiming prior to the removal of the vertical axis reticle. The aiming in this video against ships less than 4 km away. My issue is that my shells never fly to where they were supposed to vertically and hitting anything beyond 5 km is near impossible. Meanwhile the enemy team flawlessly hit me constantly at 8+ km. I think this guide isn’t so much an aiming guide but more of a “where should you hit the enemy ship” guide. The vertical aiming issue has been plaguing this game for me for over a year. And I know that the horizontal line on the green reticle when aiming definitely isn’t where those shells are going to land, because 9 times out of 10 they either fly way over that or just fall extremely short. People shouldn’t have to wait for guided by player’s when Gaijin should update their tutorials because they explain nothing and the fact the aiming gif has gotten changed countless times to the point the tutorials and player guides are outdated. Oh and I wouldn’t be surprised if anything in this guide is even in the one I’m playing because I’m stuck on console.
There should be a way to map fine tuning your range on controller. You might have to sacrifice functionality on the D pad yet for your situation it might be worth it.
Check what Distance correction is bound to in controls. Use that to adjust your range, there's a bit of an art to that, but setting your range to about 200-300m ahead of a your target if it's moving towards you, or 200m if it's moving away is about right.
I hate the follow bullet camera I find it very distracting and its always disabled for me. yet I get between 10 to 15 to 1 KDA in most premium cruisers.
Do you have the problem when aiming where the green aiming reticule bounces up and down (as well as the distance) even without you moving the distance correction up/down? I will try to aim at waterline of boat but it may suddenly start quickly jumping above/below the boat. It happens randomly it seems and it also happens when trying to aim at terrain, such as aiming at an island to shoot a boat on the other side of the island.
Any help with tactics? I can do well if im allowed to leave spawn but thats hard when playing a 5.0 destroyer against bigger ships. I constantly get focused down as soon as i spawn by a CL
Hello Napalm, I think I detected that my secondaries have started automatically switching ammunition types. I would like to confirm my observation if that is possible.

I think the bullet follow camera is awful because it spends your time watching it and doesn't let you hold Rmb for quick shots. I can play naval battles pretty well, ı generally become the number one player in session and ı always keep this option off. What is important is learning your ship's bullet characteristics (speed etc), predicting the enemy's movement and making quick estimations. If you can do this, you can destroy half of the enemy team and gain nice money/ research points. My nick is, oguzturk209 , if you want, you can send friend request.

How to aim in naval:
Step one: don't waste your time on naval
Step two: enjoy
mad because din't watch the vid ;)
@@Napalmratte nah, more like frustrated cuz naval player since Imperial Navy.

Eh wait a moment....
@@Napalmratte Yeah, I agree with the dude/girl. Naval is an absolute failure.
Do this in any other ship than Scharnhorst thx. Idiotic.
Hallo
I think the bullet follow camera is awful because it spends your time watching it and doesn't let you hold Rmb for quick shots. I can play naval battles pretty well, ı generally become the number one player in session and ı always keep this option off. What is important is learning your ship's bullet characteristics (speed etc), predicting the enemy's movement and making quick estimations. If you can do this, you can destroy half of the enemy team and gain nice money/ research points. My nick is, oguzturk209 , if you want, you can send friend request.
