Thank you for your sincere and sweet reaction to this song. I heard it on the radio driving this morning and choked up. I ran to YT to find a reaction video and found your channel. I guess I needed to find a way to validate that I'm not an idiot for choking up to this song lol. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos

Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam were not one hit wonders. They actually had several hit songs. The guys playing the drums and the piano were the Cult Jam. The two guys singing was Paul Anthony and Bow Legged Lou from the group Full Force. They were the ones that actually signed Lisa Lisa, wrote and produced most of her stuff. You should check out the song "Ain't My Type of Hype" by Full Force. That song is from the movie House Party. Those two along with their other brother, B-Fine, played the three bullies in the house party movies.

This was the heartbroken teenage girl’s anthem. When we were singing that we were all cried out we meant it. 😄

Back in the day this was a slow jam but not an emotional heart tug song. Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam has a nice documentary and I highly recommend it because it tells you about her background and the other members. She was kind of a one hit wonder, but made a few more.

A very tearful reaction 🥲! I see 👁👁 that you have reacted to Lisa Lisa before: I Wonder If I Take You Home. All Cried Out was released as the third single from Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's 1985 album: Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam With Full Force. It was written and produced by Full Force. The song reached #3 on the R&B chart and #8 on the Hot 100. The music video was directed by Simeon Soffer. The song features Full Force's: Paul Anthony and Bowlegged Lou on co-lead vocals.
Paul Anthony and Bowlegged Lou appeared on Soul Train in 1985 to perform the song All Cried Out with Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, which resulted in a mishap when Paul Anthony's glove got caught on Lisa Lisa's earring and almost wrecked the performance. Bowlegged Lou recounted the story on Full Force's TH-cam channel.
Lisa Lisa said in a 2012 interview: "I hear so many stories from people. The one I hear the most is from the females, 'You helped me through my breakup with your song, 'All Cried Out.' You kept me alive and moving.' Well, whatever I can do to help is cool with me, because when we were doing the song, I was going through the same thing. I was 13 years old, so what the hell did I know? But we all universally go through the same first breakup experience."
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam Info 📰:
Lisa "Lisa Lisa" Velez was born on January 15, 1967 in Manhattan, New York. Alex "Spanador" Moseley was born in 1962 in New York City. Mike Hughes was born in 1963 in New York City. Lisa Lisa is of Puerto Rican descent and learned to speak Spanish at home and English in school. She sang in her church choir, at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, along with her six sisters, and was an A student at Julia Richman High School in Manhattan. In high school she was also part of a traveling singing group that sang Motown hits and songs from old Broadway musicals. Lisa Lisa turned down the role of “Lisa McDowell” in the 1988 movie: Coming To America, offered to her by Eddie Murphy.
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam was founded when Lisa Velez successfully auditioned for the Brooklyn production team Full Force. She met drummer Mike Hughes at the Funhouse, a Manhattan underage club that she frequented. She described the atmosphere as, "a young place, no liquor served in that place at all, so I kinda liked it. I used to dance a lot, but I was always aware of where I was turning, so I would watch and find out who's who, where's where". Mike Hughes spotted her, finding her attractive and asked her to audition for the production team. She took the subway to a house in Brooklyn, her first trip to the borough, without her protective older brother, who was to later become her bodyguard.
With Mike Hughes and Alex "Spanador" Moseley, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam recorded their debut single: "I Wonder If I Take You Home", soon after forming in 1985, releasing it as an independent single. The group quickly signed to Columbia Records, which re-released the single, and it climbed into the R&B top ten in the US and the top 20 in the UK. The group amassed a number of hit songs throughout the 1980s including: "Head To Toe", "Lost In Emotion" and "All Cried Out".
Lisa Velez said of her on stage moniker (Lisa Lisa): "I guess they had the type of idea like, okay, the 1985 U.T.F.O. hit song: "Roxanne Roxanne", worked, why not "Lisa Lisa"? I thought it was cute because I knew it would cause controversy, talk. It was all about the boobies! Full Force, when they first met me, they could never look me in the eye. They kept looking at me below the chin, and they would be like: “Lisa, Lisa”. And it stuck. About getting paid, Lisa Velez expressed "I don't think about the money. I'm not doing this for the money. I was pulling in 600 to 700 a week when I was working at Benetton, so it doesn't mean shit to me. I'm just doing this 'cause I want to sing".
In 1987, Lisa Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer (ductal carcinoma). She hid it for a very long time. They removed the tumors, and she had reconstructive surgery. She underwent 16 weeks of chemotherapy. Lisa Lisa said: "It was pretty hard. I was always sick, I lost my hair. It was about trying to hide all of that. I didn’t tell anybody on the road. I would go onstage with the (chemo) pack, and I hid it under my clothes. But I caught it early, and I was OK". In 2023, she is cancer free.
By the end of the 1980s, however, the group's success had begun to decline. Their fourth and final album: Straight Outta Hell's Kitchen, was less of a commercial success, though it did include a hit with the single: "Let The Beat Hit 'Em", which reached the top 40 on the Pop chart and was a hit on both the R&B and Dance charts. The group disbanded in 1991, and Lisa Velez pursued both solo singing and acting careers, and Alex Moseley and Mike Hughes went on to do other projects.
Mike Hughes stayed busy playing drums for many artists during studio sessions and working as a sound engineer on various tours including for Metallica. Alex "Spanador" Moseley would work with many artists behind the scenes writing and producing including: LL Cool J, B2K, Da Band, Cheryl "Pepsii" Riley, Ludacris, Jay Z, Intro, Eve, Tamia, Keyshia Cole, Ray J and more.
Lisa Lisa released a solo album: LL77, in 1994 which included the moderate club hit song: "When I Fell In Love", and the notable single: "Skip To My Lu", which hit No. 38 on the R&B chart.
Lisa Lisa resurfaced in 2001 on the Nickelodeon tv series: Taina, in which she played the title character's mother. In 2003, Lisa Lisa appeared in an episode of the television series: Law & Order (S13/E24 Smoke).
On June 24, 2008, Lisa Lisa presented an award at the BET Awards, sparking interest that she may be plotting a comeback. In 2009, she released the album: Life 'n Love, full of new material on Mass Appeal Entertainment featuring the single: "Can't Wait", with guest rapper Pitbull. The album also features a cover version of the song: "Stand", which was originally performed by Taylor Dayne on her 1998 album: Naked Without You.
In 2013, Lisa Lisa appeared in two episodes of the television series: Becoming Ricardo, as the character Lydia Cruz.
In 2013, TV One produced an Unsung episode detailing Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam's lives and musical careers.
In March 2014, Lisa Lisa appeared with Stevie B, TKA, Sa-Fire and others at the eighth annual Forever Freestyle showcase at the Lehman College Center for the Performing Arts in the Bronx.
In June 2019 Lisa Lisa signed with Snoop Dogg's Army, part of the Snoop Dogg Entertainment Company.
In 2020, Lisa Lisa appeared in the film: 5th Borough, starring Steve Stanulis, James Russo and Tara Reid.
Lisa Lisa still performs her songs live on stage in 2023.
