    I like your fig fence. The trunks will look great made into a lattice like that!

    Nice fig trees. I saw a video on your channel saying your trees died outside. Very sorry. I live in north Nj and what we do here is we take a long fig branch and literally plant it 3 to 4 feet down in the ground. I never rap it and it has been coming back for 20 years. With figs. Hope that helps you. Keep it going partner! Love your videos!

    From this video I can tell that you learned a lot and are and will be a good Fig tree grower ! Mulch is the right thing always ! Don't want to waste time explaining. I am sure you read about it.! In my opinion the pot with your 'suffering'' Fig plant is too big for its size and should be transplanted at the 'right' time into a smaller one. Nice espalier ! I

    Nice. I have a couple of airlayers I removed too that I'm keeping an eye on because the root mass wasn't that great. It would be great to see a video on the fig preserves you make too.

    Normally air grafting, i trim the plant down almost by half. The Plant has the massive tree supplying it with nutrients. When you clip it that branch is attempting to be supported by the small little root ball you created. Additionally, I have also been warned against planting my figs too close to the house. I love your orchard though! Good luck and Happy Growing!

    It is better to mention your cold-hardiness zone because people watching live in different zones and need to be careful in expectations.
    Your 2nd shown fig tree looks like Chicago Hardy if the fruit is dark.

    IMHO I would take off the bad leaves on the one you may have over fertilized. The plant will do much better if it does not have to give so much energy to heal those bad leaves.

    Tried getting back to you last night, but not sure if my comments made their way back to you. Yes I will trade cuttings, but not sure how to go about doing that. Thanks again for the subscription, and the nice comments on my video.

    Hello memberson...all of the "common" fig trees are self-pollinating and do not need a second tree to produce fruit...the brown turkey, although a good producer, in not known for sweet tasting fruit...a better choice might be the Hardy Chicago, also a good producer, with much better tasting fruit(it is also known for being very cold hardy)...The Black Genoa fig tree is not part of the family of "common fig trees"...it is not self pollinating...it needs to be pollinated by the fig wasp.Good Luck

    I read that fig trees have very prolific root systems. So, if you plant your trees too close to your house, your foundation may be affected. My 2 cents.

    Hello, my Orchard has everything but fig tree, my question to you sir is can I keep it small, and I'm in zone seven I think Brown Turkey fig will survive.is Brown turkey fig trees of bury good tasting and Hardy produce.

    • @blkxdragon
      @blkxdragon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MORNING GARDENER'S SHOW. In zone 7 you will need to find a cold hardy variety if you want to keep it outside. Also keeping it in a pot will restrict the size of the tree and promote fig production.

    The trees are beautiful but fig trees do not grow by seeds unless it is a capri and or Calimyrna type and they have to be pollenated by a special fig wasp- blastophago.

    • @pammyb6219
      @pammyb6219 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should research the type to prevent from altering the tree's name, which causes a lot of problems with cultivating and identifying.

      Those two small trees you call Larocca and Marian, looks the same- like a Violette de Bordeaux- both the same trees, maybe.

    Greetings from Puerto Rico!!!
    I hope first of all that I love very much your video. Since I live in Puerto Rico where all year around is hot, I am not sure if I can grow figs, which I will love very much to do. It is very hard to find fig trees here. I will love if you could share some of your waste cuttings or to find some people to send me some cuttings that may grow in tropical weather, my addres is HC 1 Box 8000, Villalba PR 00766
    Thank you so much.

      I live near Milan and have a 30 year old fig tree. I am Italian, and what my relatives do is bury the tree in the soil until spring. I don't..mine is a beautiful tree in my dining room. What I don't understand on these videos is why is there a need for cuttings to get more trees? Mine grows in the same pot, I dig it up and we always have lots of baby healthy plants about a foot tall. ciao!

    Whole video thrown off by improper use of 'ironically'. Tell me sir, how is it ironic that you planted two trees from the same donor close to each other?..
    Anyhow, I love the nice neat circles around your trees and manicured lawn.

      naikii ~projecting your own OCD issue, before complimenting the maker of this video is sad. You simply could have moved on, but no, you just had to be an @$$. Well done!
