    Some of you are operating under the idea that systema practitioners are supposed to be dealing with multiple strikes and exchanges.
    No self defense system is trying to stand and continuously parry an attacker.
    The idea is to blend and attack, ideally simultaneously, and finish an attacker before he knows what's hit him.
    MMA practitioners will always denounce anything not MMA because it has a venue in which they believe is a proving grounds of some sort.
    What they don't realize is that they have rules and are really doing nothing but kickboxing until someone feels overwhelmed, rocked or tired and needs to clinch and inevitably wrestle on the ground.
    Its nothing new, but most of the men who can make it work are professional athletes .. which simply means they get paid to train and don't have to worry about things like jobs and bills because the sponsors take care of that.
    Athleticism is not an art or school.
    MMA isn't even nearly as impressive when its not at the top level.
    Anyone practicing MMA recreationally is usually not that impressive. Not at MMA anyway.
    Any self defense is predicated on the element of surprise.
    Yet MMA zealots always cite that self defense practitioners aren't winning in MMA tournaments.
    How could they? Self defense isn't a sparring science. Its a science that works off distraction and surprise.
    Once you step in the ring, THERE IS NO SURPRISE. There is no distraction.
    There is only you and the opponent and the understanding that you must hurt each other.
    Its apples and oranges.
    MMA is a competition. Self defense is a counterattacking science predicating itself on creating openings by displaying feigned weakness.
    Most people will NEVER understand the difference because they simply don't want to.
    And those usually are the same people who predicate all their beliefs and understanding of combat science on TH-cam videos.

      J Smith
      I won't say anything against it because it is true, but stop wasting your time on youtube. As you said those people don't understand the concepts anyway, and changing their views (even if it is possible) will bear no fruits for anyone.

    • @asswuppin
      @asswuppin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** If that were true then MMA couldn't even exist today.
      It simply takes an eye catching platform and format to turn people into believers.
      That's how every cult starts.

      most " martial arts" are bull as most of its concepts cannot be applied in real world fights or even self defense. MMA stands as the most basic and optimal martial arts that can effectively defend itself or attack because it does not require some bull shit stance like wing chun and other fighting stances. It is a mixed breed of what's good from all corners of martial arts which is what creates the most effective combat style. Not bashing martial arts as it can be a great spiritual boost but it's just the truth.

    Great mechanics and efficient use of power. Systema is a lot like T'ai-Chi, IMO. Not to disrespect the notion of "chi", but to me, what this training and understanding of body energy, (however you spell it), does is to help you use the laws of physics to your advantage, not violate them. "Chi" must accompany and/or unify good alignment and efficient use of muscles. By itself it is not very powerful. One thing I like about Systema is that people are taught the basic principles and allowed to "make it their own". This man's art resembles other Systema practitioners in some ways but at the same time it's personal to him. Good stuff.

    And, like any martial arts video on youtube, you have your "this doesn't work in real life" couch warriors. It's like they lurk around youtube, waiting for new postings so they can trash it with their "extensive" martial arts knowledge..

    • @LeporidaeanDream
      @LeporidaeanDream 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True. People who train/fight a lot [at least halfly realistic sparring, not all MA have that] are tenfold better at handling real fights, but they must be honest and unafraid enough to train what *works for them*, lending credence to Bruce's ideology. A lot of masters don't accept that, and with all respect; screw them. That said, our bodies are not that different, and there is always the strive to find what works best. Cars are more different than us, and there are not ten ways to handle all those. Subtle variations for each, but similar technique to move them most effeciently.

    • @TheRobinL
      @TheRobinL 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My problem is when claims about a combat style is made but you will never see it in anything close to a real life scenario. All you see is semi-slow moment done against self falling puppet. If this "Systema" would be so good, why are there not one single MMA fighter in almost any federation/organization using this moves? Why is it always in this homemade demonstration videos.
      I realize that not every "Systema" practice want to be a world class MMA fighter. But the already world class MMA fighter want to be the best, and no one of them is adopt this style of fighting.

    • @Centrinario

      robin L MMA is synthesized fighting in safe conditions. It has nothing to do with self defense.
      MMA doesn't determine anything.

    • @TheRobinL
      @TheRobinL 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Golden Boy You last comment basically added nothing to the discussion. You sad nothing that even comes close to anything intangible at all. You addressed none of my criticism or argument in anyway. Did I really explained my position that bad or are you completely misunderstanding me?
      “MMA is synthesized fighting in safe conditions”
      Yes that’s my point. MMA is one of the closes way we can get to a real life scenario without to many risk of fatal damage. And your precious “Systema” is not used by anyone in anyway.
      “It has nothing to do with self defense.”
      So if I and Cain Velasquez (UFC Heavyweight Champion) was attacked by same robbery. You’re telling me that we should have about the same odds of winning that altercation because he’s MMA skill will not help him in anyway in that scenario? Really?
      “MMA doesn't determine anything.”
      I’m not even sure what you mean by that. Correct me if I’m misunderstanding your point here.
      MMA is one of the closest thing we can get to a real life scenario. There for, the method used by professional MMA fighter should logical be one of the closest way of fighting if a real life scenario. And no one is using Kiai, Capoeria, Systema & Aikido in and kind of close to real life fighting. Why do you think that is? I tell you why, It does not work at all when trying to implemented in anything that comes close to real life events.

    The problem about this demonstration is that they know what kind of attacks are coming, its hard to pull this off with someone who knows how to fight bc u wouldnt know if a kick, elbow or punch or take down is coming, plus the pressure that’s applied into it. Unless ur opponent is someone who only knows how to throw a dominant hand haymaker.

    I think this is the ONLY systema system that actually looks efficient enough. Some similarities that look like the other crappy #&@% that the original systema system uses is "somewhat" still there, and usually I literally cringe and hurt inside whenever I see a systema system being demonstrated or even trying to be done. However, these Koreans seem to deliver it more efficiently, though it still could use some changes....obviously. Congratulations, this is literally the only systema system version by these guys that has the potential to being useful. More resistance is needed though in order for you guys to build an efficient system.

      He loves to teach. Its his passion. You dont need to fight to proove. Some armys thought that it should be good for him to teach systema to soldiers because it's been said its proven worthy during battle. he has a certificate for it which was acquired in University aswell. Most systema movments wouldn't be allowed in a ring because it uses vital points. Groin etc etc. It's for defense. Cage fighters are trained to last 5 minutes. With systema its about defusing the attacker quickly. Not go 5 rounds

      Don't quote me but systema has some exercises to develop the body to be better suited for the martial arts and techniques on how to receive blows without getting hurt. What he is doing however is what I said before AND throwing his breast like a punch with a coordinated whip like motion from his torso, shoulders and legs, he is just so good that he doesn't need to move very much to get a HUGE amount of force going.

    Relies Very heavily on snappy moves. yeah he looks fast because his opponents are slow. Martial artists that rely heavily on demonstrating snap speed break moves falter when it comes to fighting opponents that can spoil your moves and taking your opportunities away from u to do these moves.

      I Think Systema Is Mixed With Everything It Just Doesn't Have Attacks In Tension You Have To Be Like A Whip. Not Fully Relaxed Neither In Tension You Need To Get The Thing Between Relaxation And Tension.
