Hiking the Most Beautiful Alpine Lake in Washington - Jade Lake

Jade lake sits in a basin deep in the alpine lakes wilderness. It's unique blue color is created by glacial melt, and it is such a brilliant shade of blue you will think your eyes are playing tricks. While it is doable as a day hike be prepared, it's 20 miles and 4400 feet of gain, so it makes for a long grueling day. It took me 10 hours to complete and was worth every step. Final hike of the summer, fall is fast approaching in the alpine. Enjoy!

It's the result of certain minerals being ground by the glacier that dissolve into the water. It's amazing, each lake is different because of different proportions of the minerals. This lake just glows from that, it's hard to believe.

I really don't understand WHY it's called Jade Lake, when the color is torquoise?!?? 😉
Regarding your filming, do you have someone go with you, or are you setting up the camera, going back and filming, and then have to go back and get the camera again? That in & of itself would take a lot of time I would think??
Nice work! Diablo Lake, off of 20, is similar to Jade, but bigger, and shorter hike. 😉

You'd have to ask person ho named the lake lol
And yes I solo hike, so I set up the camera and go back for it. It actually doesn't take too long.

Wildlife is typically way more scared of humans than we are of them. It's exceptionally rare to even see a mountain lion. That being said I always carry bear spray, that's the best protection against wildlife@@curbozerboomer1773

Yup! Bugs in late summer are not very bad, didn't have any issues with them.
