Tamil and Sanskrit were equally old.
Tamil had a highly developed gRammar by 600 BCE - indicating it had evolved for years before that !
Traditional accounts put the age of Tamil at - 2600 years
But the truth is - 2600 years ago or 3000 years ago
( if adichanallur Tamil Brahmi inscriptions are included)
Tamils were composing advanced Grammatical treatise and complex literature.
So the language itself is much older than 3000 years!
Scholars think that May be it was spoken by Indus Valley population.

    • @KartikayKaul
      @KartikayKaul 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

@@keshchandraprajapati146 no. It was spoken during the same time as Sanskrit. Sanskrit literally means "refined" or "pure" it was just like a language refined grammatically for ritualistic or literary purposes. Prakrit was the spoken or Vulgar form of Sanskrit (just like Vulgar latin). Tamil was independently refined but I guess there was no difference made between spoken and written Tamil? I am not sure of that. Tamil still survives to this day with a grammar, literature and spoken use

    Hi Min and Éric
Languages spoken in the southern states of the country, such as Tamil in Tamil Nadu or Malayalam in Kerala, are part of the Dravidian language family. Tamil is a very ancient language and was the first language in India to acquire classical language status. It is estimated that the first period of Tamil literature, Sangam literature, arose between 300 BC and 300 AD.

Okieeee...here is the answer for you..
Though we have different languages, we all know English. Almost 75% of Indians can speak basic English and almost 90% of people can understand it(according to me). In school, We are taught Tamil & English(compulsory) and other subjects which are also in English. Being an Indian, I regret not watching Bollywood movies and I don't know even the actor& actress's name(I know only few).
We tamilians have a cine- industry called KOLLYWOOD and some times, I watch other south Indian movies translated in Tamil. So basically, I am never connected with Hindi and Hindi speaking people. That's the reason, I don't know Hindi.
Also, from past 2 years, I am not watching Tamil movies too. I am obsessed with k-drams and K-pop music(especially BTS).
So if you ask me, we tamilians don't speak Hindi is not bz hating North Indians. The reason is we are not taught Hindi and it is also not necessary to learn it bz we Indians can understand English and with that, we can survive anywhere in India.
If you come here, you will better understand how Indians lives and how culture differs in every part of India. Though, we people say we are Tamilians, we are Punjabi, we are north, we are south, we will proudly say, WE ARE INDIANS. And you can find the treatment of guests are same everywhere in India. We always believe and follow the mantra "GUEST IS GOD".
To understand India even more clear, make a visit to different parts of India.
    " Wholeheartedly welcome"
(Sorry for my bad English. I tried my level best to help you😊)
