They work quite well, considering they are not made for the x-m5. As you see from my tests, very strong wind, it struggles, but in the main, it was reasonable for £11
Thanks for review! I am new to Fujifilm camera system especially I love their retro designs and I think X-M5 is great for beginning. About Fujifilm I have heard about so many AF problems but this compact device is just fine so far. I hope they can fix other AF problems on other devices.
@@Degas-q8c there are cameras with better AF but the little X-M5 is pretty good so far. It's super compact and all Fuji cameras share a lovely retro tactical styling!
Thanks for your tests - very helpful, indeed. As for a wide angle lens that is not too large ... my use case is slightly different, but in case I need it, I have the Samyang / Walimex 12mm f2 lens at my hand. It's MF only, but for vlogging, the distance is fairly stable, so one can achieve sharp images with a 12mm DoF. Just so.
@@Bunnie6944 it's very much down to personal preference, but so far I manage and with glasses too. I'm used to the Sony zv-1, also just a screen camera. Composition can be a little tricky to frame in low light. Having said that, I managed to photo birds with no issues! My next video is likely to be on touch AF tips for the X-M5
Thank you! how about the LCD screen in sunlight environment, can we still see the screen? Which one would you prefer for traveling between xs20 and xm5?
@@Bunnie6944 The screen is quite bright, its a tough one for traveling. I think if I had to travel very light, the X-M5, but my x-m5 is more of an everyday carry, tiny street camera. The battery in the x-s20 is much better and you get a viewfinder. Its heavier and quite a bit bigger. You have to work out which is more important, size or versatility.
Thanks for the early test. I'll be interested how you find reliability. I was out with my X-M5 yesterday shooting stills, and it froze on me twice (needed battery taking out to restart) and also keeps trying to power down while I'm using it. Like the power save is a bit too keen. I've reset and turned off power save, so will see what it's like today.
@@jamzefisher Hiya, no issues so far, it's possible you have a faulty unit. Try a different SD card, those can cause crashing. I've owned many Fuji cameras, my X-T5 has been away once for repair. If you just picked up the camera, contact the retailer to swap the camera out if the issue persists
@@NatsWright will do. Good point about the SD card. Just realised I used a card from my Nikon and hadn't reformatted it in the X-M5. Might have caused it issues.
@@TungstenOvergaard Thanks! The lens I used for the cover photo, was the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8. The pic on the wall is cool, thanks! Was using the Tamron 11-20mm f2.8
Thank you for doing this little hands-on test. Looks like you had a good workout :). The digital image stabilisation works better than I was expecting. A little wobbly, but consistent enough. If there was a low-size low-weight 13 mm lens, maybe something equivalent to the Viltrox 20 mm 2.8 full-frame lens, that would probably be really nice for Vlogging. Although I am using the viewfinder almost exclusively, interestingly out of the current generation Fujifilm cameras the X-M5 is the one I am the most excited about so far. It looks so cute and unobtrusive; even the X-S20 looks like a gigantic professional camera in comparison :). I am hoping that the X-E5 will have a similar form factor (more curvy, less square and with a similar grip), that would be lovely. Have fun with your new camera!
Thanks for the tip on that small rig deadcat! I have an x-m5 coming so definitely going to grab one of those

Thank you for the testing. Must have been a nuisance in such cold weather.

Perfect review! Can you please share you exp whether it too small to hold and a lack of viewfinder is issue when taking a photo?
