    Is it possible to disconnect the wiring loom glow plug heater connector wires, then add an additional indipendant switched positive cable say from the battery to the glow plugs, switch on count down from 10 to 0 switch of then start engine

      @Bodgemiester  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, shouldn't be a problem. You may need to use the main loom 12v to switch a relay and join the key but not difficult at all

    Great video, I going to use the circuit to bypass on a skidsteer. Could you let me know what pin # the key wires are hooked to on the relay.

    • @Bodgemiester
      @Bodgemiester  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They hook to the switched pins to make a closed circuit.

    Those changeover relays are nice but only hadle about 100A continuous for a short time. the circut needs about 150-200A to handle everything including larger diesels. I their a timer that plugs a beefier relay?

    • @Bodgemiester
      @Bodgemiester  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @budchestnut9303 it's only pulling the switch feed through the timer. Actual current relay can be as big as you want

    This is fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing. Is it possible to get something like this to work with a 24v system?

    • @Bodgemiester
      @Bodgemiester  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem at all, I think the timer is OK for 24v, just use 24v relays

    Very good, but one detail is missing. A factory setup doesn't cycle the glow plugs when the engjne is warm. That said, I'll be using this on my diesel conversion pickup and my fiat tractor. My idiotic tractor has some sort of diesel burning pre heater system that has never worked in the whole time we've owned it, and that's 30 years.

    • @Bodgemiester
      @Bodgemiester  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @j.danaclark2166 no that's correct, but it won't hurt anything. Fit a thermostatic switch to the ignition feed or something if you're that bothered about it. I wouldn't bother

      @@Bodgemiester I'm too lazy to fit a temp control. I'll be running the way you are. And just for anyone interested: the new duramax diesels have a really nice screw in preheater if you want to go away from the glow plugs. Personally, here in Canada's winters, a preheater starts considerably better than glow plugs.

    Great video! Quick question...just to see if I'm understanding this correctly...the "key" circuit appears to be going to 2 terminals on the 30a relay that have constant continuity. Which means the key is circuit is always closed. This, in turn causes the timer to be triggered with the introduction of power to the board. If I'm seeing it correctly, I should be able to wire a jumper between the 2 'key' terminals and do away with the 2 black 'key' wires going back to the relay. Is this correct? Thanks so much!

    • @Bodgemiester
      @Bodgemiester  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically correct. The key only needs to be closed momentarily, the relay does not stay closed either BUT It would not matter if it did.

    Great video! Very helpful. Is it possible to get it to work in reverse? I’m looking to cut power for 10 seconds when i flick a switch, and was hoping to use a delay circuit like this but need to work out how to wire it to do what i’m aiming for.

    • @Bodgemiester

      No problem at all, just use the other terminal on the output. That's what it's for

    Very helpful video. Thanks. I have some comments that I think would improve what you have conveyed here. A hand drawn circuit would have been very handy as a reference point as your wiring gets difficult to trace. Also, since the counter display will be difficult to have on the dash, inclusion of a dash light in the circuit that shows when the glow time has been reached
    would be a good idea. I have found a board on eBay and have bought it. I think I can figure out the dash light etc but others may not. Trying to be constructive and thanks again for your help.

      Also....you suggest the option (your preferred) of using the external relay for the glow plug cct and say if you don’t want to, you can use the onboard relay. I’m thinking the onboard relay may not be powerful enough to use for glow plugs otherwise you would have used it? Appreciate some clarification please in addition to the above comments. Thank you!

    Nice video. This is my first time watching any of your videos, so I need to ask where you found the timer? I want to make a timed circuit to turn on and then off my soon to be connected heated seats. You did say you can set it for minutes as well right?

    • @Bodgemiester
      @Bodgemiester  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the timer came from eBay and yes they do count minutes also. Search 12v timer circuit. There are several different kinds but I find this one the most simple to use
