Lydian Dominant b7(i see on the neck the melodic minor on 5h degree into dominant chord)Is very latin...and for me(i'm a Neapolitan)Is very usable in a mediterranean blues contest or something like that! A good exemple could be Al di Meola(but also PHRYGIAN DOMINANT) In a rock station or blues rock station(or into anglo-american tradition and musical culture) i prefer mixolidyan b6 !

I use this approach over dominant chords that aren’t resolving. I think of it as melodic minor up a fifth. Cool ideas here Carl. Thanks.
My brain sorts things out in exactly the same way.
