From a concerned thinker! The key to a thriving house hold is the ambitions and dreams that the couple or partners have. Meaning communication is a must establish goals work together to reach them. kids need the basics and love most importantly anything extavigant is only taking from your future at times it's ok but never spoil them make them work for the extras, chores is a great way to start them young. The kids are always watching so plan brain storm and solve problems together insures them in visual how a family should be. Get to know yourself as well as your partner this country gives us our foundation and the banks and government have tools to progress when used right, live long and prosper!

On top of it he's working 40 hours to make that! That's only $7.21 per hour! So every time he buys a value meal at McDonalds he's spending an hour of his time to make that money! SMH! There's so many other things you could be doing with your life than making only 15K a year! He could be driving for UBER and make more than that and he would still be driving!
Hey Dave when you said: "You cant do ready fire aim, you have to do ready aim fire...that just spoke to me deeply...I needed to hear that...Thank You God Bless!
Aniza Yassin Not necessarily saying money has to do with it but if you're not making enough to support each other then it can wait, believe me I know that's rough but I waited until I made about 43,000 a year which still isn't much, to be married. It's not about money over love it's about if something drastic were to happen tomorrow would you be able to financially survive and support your spouse. It's being responsible.

The sad thing is I have friends with his mentality. They want to do this this and that but never accomplish anything. Sometimes it’s hard getting thru to them.
I had friends like that. I just get rid of them. I don’t like to hang with people who have no sense of direction in life. Those are the kinds that complain about being broke, but they always find the money to buy a new video game
Yeah, the money should just fall in his lap even if his employer doesn't have it. If Mr. Everyone-should-make-15/hr Bernie can't afford to pay his staff, he shouldn't lecture everyone else who doesn't have the funds to do it. Maybe this company should just lay him off since paying 8/hr is such a crime.
Everyone is so shocked that this man is making so little but when people say that the minimum wage needs to be raised so many people are against it. The majority of jobs are minimum wage or slightly higher. So now you know why it needs to be raised.
Cody. if you have a CDL and you are only making 15,000 a year? theres a Company called Lefebvre and sons that has a fleet there. I work for them and im making around 40,000 a year great company check em out.
I feel for this guy, I initially went to college for computers too and dropped out too just like him. In my case though I still managed to make a career in IT. I make just below 70k which isn't a ton but is way more than 15k!
He's a welder but drives a truck for a living. Things (housing, etc) are expensive next door in Mont. but I'd have checked it out thru internet, newspapers, etc. Blue collar jobs seem to be the place to be these days. Go where you can support your family even if it means leaving the extended family. The more income you make, the more often you can visit - sort of. Love to know how he's doing in '24.
+OD520 Santiago Yes it can. That would be working about minimum wage 7.25*40 hours *52 a week = $15,080. Maybe he makes a bit more an hour, but they cut his hours sometimes.
If they have a strong relationship especially this young they should be fine if she is working as well, two incomes make things a lot easier. But like I said that depends on how strong their relationship is.
I'm surprised by all the commentors that are surprised that there are people working for minimum wage. It's a sad reality for many but it's not hopeless.

Cody: here are the keys to the Good Life. Education and contraception, and you can't have enough of either. (Also, put this wedding WAY off into the future.)
Who said anything about being alone or "mountains of student loan debt"? Why would you think he's going to be either, much less both, of those things? Family planning and education are the keys to the Good life, happiness notwithstanding, anywayl
Valerie Wood You must be one of those who signed student loan agreements without reading them and believed that college and a degree is the only way. There are cheaper schools and options. And I don't know what spending your 40s alone even means. When you have control of your life you live it on your terms.
I'm surprised Dave didn't tell him he has no business getting married .This kid needs to go back to school and put the wedding off for a few years till he is able to secure a higher paying job.
How about taking extra course on weekends or online to eventually replace ur current low paying job. U’ll never get off the poverty level staying where u are. But I admire you for working with low pay and never tempted to do something illegal, I salute you👍🏽🌟💫
What about if you are low income and your income will never increase and you don't get bonuses or tax refunds? I've already cut every bill I can and it doesn't seem to make any difference

holy cow. i made more than this guy at 16 working for pepsi part time in a small town in iowa. someone needs to tell him that company probably doesn't care as much as he thinks they do. my friend is in a similar position. working for a small local lumbar yard doing deliverys, just got a $1 raise and yearly bonuses only if the company profits and he thinks that's just great and his raise bumped him to $13hr....he's married, house, 3 cars, 2 dogs, and he's 24. another friend same age started at a can company that was new in town making $20. I have been at a company that my friends brother even works at and make $22hr plus all the overtime i want. just can't get him to see he's worth more than what they are paying him, he even went to school for auto body and has painted a lot of stuff on the side but he sticks with this company because he thinks they treat him well....
Im not even sure if im doing that well. I have a decent wage, but work a varried amount of overtime. I always try to apply a lot of Daves principles. No debt other than my mortgage, and i make sure at least one of my paychecks is higher than my mortgage payment per month.
set up an automatic transfer into a savings account n give that account card/checkbook etc to a trusted financially stable family member (a parent) make it so that a set amount of money goes into the savings acc the day u get paid ... of course, first work out ya budget and what u can afford to save from each paycheck. Ensure you have the *needs* covered (rent etc) and give yaself a limit for *wants* like clothes n socialising per paycheck. Life is afterall to be lived :) when that is the norm, maybe the buzz of actually having savings will snowball and you'll decide that buying clothes/things is a waste of resources, when u can use that money for hobbies or experiences, such as traveling, which is character building and confidence boosting n leaves you with amazing memories and friendships that last a lifetime. You look a pretty girl, so i can assume that materialism n looks have been drummed into you, so this is not entirely your fault. Yet it is from this moment now. Now that u have recognized change in behaviour is needed Also address that void feeling, research into it -lots of resources online, how others have found healthier ways to deal with it, such as self nurture, or even try therapy. Cos when u boil it down, this is as much self-harm as slashing ya wrists with a razor, just less dramatic, something ive found helps when ive had discipline issues, is to pretend i am my own parent and my own child (if that makes sense) Goodluck :D
He needs to start with being a dependable worker and then negotiating a higher salary. $27k should be the minimum for a full time factory welder. He just didn’t understand what salary that position commanded and the hiring manager was lucky to find someone below market.
JTundra about 6 months ago I was in his income range and now I have 6 k in a emergency fund on track to 10 k so if I can so all that with 15-20,000 then no one has an excuse for not having savings for being broke .
Dion Simon 15,000 for driving a truck is still way too low. Most truck drivers should make $2500 to $4500 a month. My original post was not me saying 15,000 isnt good because for some people 15,000 might be enough. But his employer is ripping him off
My thoughts on this...a man must be working before he ever pops the question to me as his woman. If you wanted to go further educational and financial wise to take down on debt of all types then go right ahead. I am here to support you in every step of the way with the planning process and funds along with increasing our faith. He shouldn't get married because taking care of a family is making sure everyone is in right position and the husband should already master leadership outside the home and at home. Always have a savings in place at least of $1k or more including 3-6 months of expenses that you need just incase both the wife and husband hit a rough patch in life from smallest to largest. If he aint willing to take care of himself then what makes you think the wife and family being taken care of.
Patricia Dennis I'm not in a union and I've gotten raises beyond the union contracts in my area. Another place about a mile away from my employer attempted to unionize in September. We got a raise around $3 per hour since then and they all got fired. (149 jobs were lost when they closed the shop to kill the union).
I also live from paycheck to paycheck. The only difference is I never have "free money" left from my paychecks. All the money go either to the car loan, regular spendings, and investments. If you have free money floating around your debit account - you are essentially losing them by not investing them instead.
Some really lousy comments mocking this young man. It's not an ideal situation obviously and that's to many hours for 15k. He's gotta find a way change that. I don't know about everyone else but it's hard getting started. I'm about to turn 40 and at that age was a bit lost and some of the comments stung. It made me feel worse about myself and didn't help. It just took an opportunity and hard work to get me going in the right direction. You can change your situation man, but you have to keep your head up and assert yourself. Work hard and don't let discouragement get the best of you. Best of luck.
But surely a second salary would help? When you have a backup salary, it means you can take chances and try to create your own business/try a new profession etc.
You can't wander, but you do have to readjust along the way to the goal. Ready, fire, aim, aim, aim. Most people get stuck at ready, aim, aim, aim and never fire.
"I'd like to be owning my own business, I always thought I could be that way and I always had leadership skills" -Doing what? "Uh, Id like to design stuff and have it become reality heh, like kind of an engineer I guess you could say" 😂
I refuse to get married before I’m making six figures. Relationships, good housing, and children are way too expensive to be living on less than 40 a year.

The kids are always watching so plan brain storm and solve problems together insures them in visual how a family should be. Support your other half and build love making dreams come true, never let your money sit keep it sirculating some way where your money is making money. Get to know yourself as well as your partner this country gives us our foundation and the banks and government have tools to progress when used right, live long and prosper!
I had to go back and listen to how much he said he was making three times because I wasn't sure if he said 15K or 50K. I was like, I know he didn't just say 15K, he said 50K right? Wow! On top of it he's working 40 hours to make that! That's only $7.21 per hour! So every time he buys a value meal at McDonalds he's spending an hour of his time to make that money! SMH! There's so many other things you could be doing with your life than making only 15K a year! He could be driving for UBER and make more than that and he would still be driving!
he could literally do anything else. even my part time job with pepsi stocking shelves when i was 16-20 paid better than that
Hey Dave when you said: "You cant do ready fire aim, you have to do ready aim fire...that just spoke to me deeply...I needed to hear that...Thank You God Bless!
Getting married and only making 15k a year??? I'd rethink that....
You'd think his girlfriend would be rethinking that. Suspect that the brains aren't the organs at work here.
Betsy J. Miller Nothing like getting married for money.
Why?
Aniza Yassin Not necessarily saying money has to do with it but if you're not making enough to support each other then it can wait, believe me I know that's rough but I waited until I made about 43,000 a year which still isn't much, to be married. It's not about money over love it's about if something drastic were to happen tomorrow would you be able to financially survive and support your spouse. It's being responsible.
Aniza Yassin Honestly if you can never make 43,000 a year and it's not due to a disability then you need to rethink your career choice.
What?!?! 15K working full time? Is that even possible? Dude needs to be a little more ambitious.
Binh Nguyen its very possible
yep 40 comes quick, I got a job but not a career.
OMG! I hate your profile pic so much! I thought there was a fly on my computer! Totally panicked! ha!
Me too and I’m too old to be taken seriously even if I spent the next 4 years getting excellent grades in a school or trade I did that at 35 graduate d and no employer would take me over the beautiful 22 year olds fighting for the same job
The caller has a sweet voice and He starts very optimistic and by the end He was like mmmm ok kind of low, love him.!!
Love love love this series, I'm currently on the road to financial security, just 8 more months and no more debt!!! Thank you, its been a blessing finding this as a "Recommend watch" on you tube. Sometimes Bit data can indeed be a great thing. or I would of never found this. XD
how’s it going now are you still doing good?
@@tohhhype2043 Fantastic, I opened my own mobile detailing business just a couple months and so far loving this transition. I'm still using the principles from here for the business and it's helpt alot keeping it afloat. Currently I'm building clientele to make this sustainable. Thank you for asking. Hope all is well for you as well.
>40 hours a week

@@BeatsByClover I think those are bullet points
He probably drives a box truck
DodgeD100Sweptline65 hey at least you tried to help him out alot of people on here making fun of him.
Unfortunately he sounds like one who won’t read the comments.
Dental and vision insurance for a 24 yr old since he will never use it.
Give him health.
Hello Dave, I am from delhi India. I listen to your show. It's really encouraging for me. You are doing great job.
$15,000 a year!!
That can't be correct!
+OD520 Santiago Yes it can. That would be working about minimum wage 7.25*40 hours *52 a week = $15,080. Maybe he makes a bit more an hour, but they cut his hours sometimes.
Interesting to know!
He should not get married right now. If he has a kid his family is gonna be on welfare.
please have his baby
Lilly S 😀😀
Nope us
Welfare is better than nothing . “ I’m getting E...B....T... west side west side west side “ Ayeee !!!
Hmong_Vaaj916 Vang - wouldn’t need welfare if they both went for better paying jobs.
If they have a strong relationship especially this young they should be fine if she is working as well, two incomes make things a lot easier. But like I said that depends on how strong their relationship is.
Need a 5 year follow up on this guy, curious what he did with the advice
They got divorced and he's living in a van at walmart.
I'm surprised by all the commentors that are surprised that there are people working for minimum wage. It's a sad reality for many but it's not hopeless.
Yes. I used to work at McDonalds for $1.60/hour
True, but 8 years??? You gotta know when to move on & move up.
I really needed to hear this thanks so much Dave. Good luck Cody x
15k a year?!?!? I made more than that working my way through college in the late 90s.
AT LEAST he has a job, its a stepping stone to the future, people have to start somewhere.
I'm thinking he's wrong about his yearly income.
jdssurf if that is his net income, then that is about right for minimum wage.
abobjenkins 😂😂😂Jesus
Damn. This call has got to have been a real eye opener for that guy. I like reality checks like this cause I do get sidetracked too often than I'm proud of.
$15 thousand a year, working 40 hours.... that's what tells you that you're getting used
" PRICELESSSSSS "...Congrats Cody, I applaud you for seeking help/advice.
this guy has to at least double his income before he even thinks about wife and kids.
working shlub triple
Great Video, there is definitely a way out of living paycheck to paycheck, all it takes is following some simple financial rules and discipline!
Financial Fitness: Personal Finance & Investment Videos
Not for a poor, uneducated and not too smart guy. Unfortunately. And I guess that you also believe that everyone is created equally and has equal chances for success
Praying for you, Cody! I live in Rapid also!
Nicole Daw he'll be a man some day. or at least like his father.
+Carlos Pereira I am not really sure what you mean. Do you know him on a personal level?
Im 17 in high school and i have a full time summer job that if i were to work all year i would make 20k. How does that work??? How can one work full time for 15k and say this is okay... this man deserves better.
Story of my life right here
Salam and salute to Dave Ramsey. He is The Lighthouse and financial Messiah. I learn a lot from him. Thank you Sir.
Cody: here are the keys to the Good Life. Education and contraception, and you can't have enough of either. (Also, put this wedding WAY off into the future.)
+Betsy J. Miller Or a vasectomy/other form of permanent birth control. ;-)
Betsy J. Miller Spending you 40s alone and having mountains of student loan debt is the opposite of A happy life....
Who said anything about being alone or "mountains of student loan debt"? Why would you think he's going to be either, much less both, of those things? Family planning and education are the keys to the Good life, happiness notwithstanding, anywayl
Valerie Wood
You must be one of those who signed student loan agreements without reading them and believed that college and a degree is the only way.
There are cheaper schools and options.
And I don't know what spending your 40s alone even means.
When you have control of your life you live it on your terms.
Betsy J. Miller since he's already married, no need putting it off to the future... Let him tug it up
I'm so thankful to find this channel. GREAT TIPS
I'm surprised Dave didn't tell him he has no business getting married .This kid needs to go back to school and put the wedding off for a few years till he is able to secure a higher paying job.
Marriage saves money, you get a lot of tax benefits, and it's irrelevant to the goal of marriage, greedy people like you put a bad taste in others
How about taking extra course on weekends or online to eventually replace ur current low paying job. U’ll never get off the poverty level staying where u are. But I admire you for working with low pay and never tempted to do something illegal, I salute you👍🏽🌟💫
What if he hit lotto ijs
You are assuming that he can take a course.
I love this guy. Thank you Dave. You rock!
What about if you are low income and your income will never increase and you don't get bonuses or tax refunds? I've already cut every bill I can and it doesn't seem to make any difference
Jessica Miller you may have to find another job that pays more or work two jobs
wow just wow To hear him talk he went to school for computers,he is a welder by trade, and he wants to be a engineer to invent something and own his own business . He is making 15 ,000 a year and is engaged whew he seems really immature and a bit slow.
Zade Muhammad its not like getting a degree will guarantee him a job or guarantee that he is able to do the job/keep the job. He probably dropped out because it wasn’t going no where
I thought welders would be on great money and demand in the States.
Becky Shell yea lets all make fun of him how great does that make us
I been to Rapid City many times. It’s. Like a part time home for me.
holy cow. i made more than this guy at 16 working for pepsi part time in a small town in iowa. someone needs to tell him that company probably doesn't care as much as he thinks they do. my friend is in a similar position. working for a small local lumbar yard doing deliverys, just got a $1 raise and yearly bonuses only if the company profits and he thinks that's just great and his raise bumped him to $13hr....he's married, house, 3 cars, 2 dogs, and he's 24. another friend same age started at a can company that was new in town making $20. I have been at a company that my friends brother even works at and make $22hr plus all the overtime i want. just can't get him to see he's worth more than what they are paying him, he even went to school for auto body and has painted a lot of stuff on the side but he sticks with this company because he thinks they treat him well....
paycheck to paycheck is destroyed the minute you get sick
no way should he be engaged right now!
I make $40,000 a year, working 40 hours a week with no college education. I got tired of working minimum wage jobs and finally got a state job.
Boy, don't get married yet!
thank you Dave! This has me doing some serious rethinking/replanning!
Caller: hopefully with a happy family, and…
Dave: NO. I’m talking for an income 😠
😂😂😂😂
if he is driving he didn't have a CDl. he is driving a non CDl truck. probably at 8 ph
Bryan Bond exactly, probably driving a van/pickup or cube truck. I make in 4 months what he makes in a year with my CDL, and I'm not even OTR anymore
He sounds like a really nice guy. Nice, but naive. I hope life doesn’t crush him.
Im not even sure if im doing that well. I have a decent wage, but work a varried amount of overtime. I always try to apply a lot of Daves principles. No debt other than my mortgage, and i make sure at least one of my paychecks is higher than my mortgage payment per month.
Help me! I’m 31 years old, single, I have a full time job but live at home and I pay rent but I still cannot stop spending money and I want to save
Nicole Ann SET A BUDGET.
zadu baba I try but the second I get paid, it disappears. I’m a shopper, I use it to fill a void but I wanna stop, I just haven’t.
It’s called self discipline, GET SOME!!
set up an automatic transfer into a savings account n give that account card/checkbook etc to a trusted financially stable family member (a parent) make it so that a set amount of money goes into the savings acc the day u get paid ... of course, first work out ya budget and what u can afford to save from each paycheck.
Ensure you have the *needs* covered (rent etc) and give yaself a limit for *wants* like clothes n socialising per paycheck. Life is afterall to be lived :)
when that is the norm, maybe the buzz of actually having savings will snowball and you'll decide that buying clothes/things is a waste of resources, when u can use that money for hobbies or experiences, such as traveling, which is character building and confidence boosting n leaves you with amazing memories and friendships that last a lifetime. You look a pretty girl, so i can assume that materialism n looks have been drummed into you, so this is not entirely your fault. Yet it is from this moment now. Now that u have recognized change in behaviour is needed
Also address that void feeling, research into it -lots of resources online, how others have found healthier ways to deal with it, such as self nurture, or even try therapy. Cos when u boil it down, this is as much self-harm as slashing ya wrists with a razor, just less dramatic, something ive found helps when ive had discipline issues, is to pretend i am my own parent and my own child (if that makes sense)
Goodluck :D
I have 55 dollars in debt. I have the money to pay it off but I don't want too.... any advice?
He needs to start with being a dependable worker and then negotiating a higher salary. $27k should be the minimum for a full time factory welder. He just didn’t understand what salary that position commanded and the hiring manager was lucky to find someone below market.
15,000 driving a truck? I make more than that doing customer service lol
JTundra it's not how much you make its what you do with it
Dion Simon partly true. If you wanna live comfortably though how much you make is a huge factor
But his employer is ripping him off
true but there is always a way up if your working people just make a lot of excuses. He should definitely be making more though.
Dave was so nice in this episode
15000 year
15000/52= 288.46 week
288.46/40 = 7.2 hr
Trucker dont work 7.2 per hr..
He was living on 7.50 hr for 8!years and he is 24.
So he is working w a trade for that . . Ummm what
That's what happens when you have no unions.
Or education.
Betsy J. Miller Betsy education doesn't make you money today. unless you're one of the lucky ones I get hired on to a good company.
You can make way more than that with trades. He could've went to school for his trade to earn more.
If you have free money floating around your debit account - you are essentially losing them by not investing them instead.
learn a trade or get a degree in something you can make good money in like the medical field
Not everyone is book smart Maybe he's not college material.
Not everyone wants to work in the medical field.
starting off in a trade non union ain't paying much either from my experience..
If he makes 15 grand a year perhaps he is not ready to take a wife.
But surely a second salary would help? When you have a backup salary, it means you can take chances and try to create your own business/try a new profession etc.
Surprisingly he is very blessed to find a woman who does not marry for money but for love
Pyla Marquez
No she lazy and dont want to work
+Sean Combs Work in the home is considered equal to work outside the home. Just fyi.
Only problem is that is unpaid.
If HER attitude is that than it Might work out! Seen it get switched several times so to say
You can't wander, but you do have to readjust along the way to the goal. Ready, fire, aim, aim, aim. Most people get stuck at ready, aim, aim, aim and never fire.
"I'd like to be owning my own business, I always thought I could be that way and I always had leadership skills"
-Doing what?
"Uh, Id like to design stuff and have it become reality heh, like kind of an engineer I guess you could say"
😂
omg, welders at my job are making $20+ per hour starting out! And he chooses to work for a company that pays $15,000 a year 🤦♂️🤦♂️
$15 000? Why minimum wage laws are needed. Also, why unions are encouraged as much as possible. Protect the everyday blue collar worker
Ramsey is Correct.
I refuse to get married before I’m making six figures. Relationships, good housing, and children are way too expensive to be living on less than 40 a year.
So what are you saying ? That poor people shouldn't breed?
Pat De basically and not to mention,, how many millionaires were born from families with no wealth..
Hi Dave, I would like to ask, What do you know about old people being
scammed by car dealerships in Washington where the state law protects
the car industry in fraud? I know personally, of one man who died a
few days after signing on the dotted line while under their sweet hand
holding. If you respond, I will tell you more. Who will help the old,
unwary uneducated victims? Would you be able to speak out for us?
Why did he think it was a good idea to get engaged🤔
Getting laid and it's clearly the best thing in his life
Yeah people get married at so young age I’m barely 27 and I don’t think I get married till I have good savings and til I find a competent guy to marry
Is it just me but how are these answers really helping people out?
Glad he decided to get married young. Give his best years to his wife.
