    I have this Vintage Air from San Antone and my 72 F250 is fantastic, it's it's a bit pricey but it's not only new and improved air conditioning it's also heat is well I would highly recommend this to anyone I also have been in touch with them regarding parts they're very professional and have just about any possible part that you would want, I can certainly dig it,Rod .

    Guys - Thank you SO MUCH for doing a Fairlaine! As a owner of a '69 Ranchero, these cars are often overlooked. I love classic Mustangs (I've had 5), but find the Fairlanes a different kick. Glad to see something a bit different on here - this is why I subscribe to you guys!

    it's 12'57 am i have had a great day the gear wheel on the back of my engine some how became loose and was making a god almighty noise , so i pulled it apart and then went to the local auto shop for some thread locker and a universal joint for my socket set , crash my fionce's car on the way , so now it is at the panel beaters on the other side of town , and no no car's ,i start work in 5 hours , looking forward to this video :) cars , you gotta love em

    Yes, the car has a four core radiator and we will be ordering a fan shroud, and clutch fan from NPD. We'll try that radiator and a three core we have and see which one cools better. We've heard said that the four cores don't cool as well because of greater fin density. So there may be tests in order here.

  • @AutoRestoMod
    @AutoRestoMod  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Dan! We plan to do a piece on what can happen if you buy a car out of storage and then try to start it without completely draining the tank and replacing the carburetor...We also plan to do some body repair stories using panel adhesives. Possibly a story on gas tank repair and cheap painting.

    We looked seriously at taking a Ranchero of the same era and mashing it up with the wagon roof to get a 1969 Fairlane Ranch Wagon. Ford stopped building the Ranch Wagon in 1965, and even then it was only available in the Falcon line though in earlier models it was part of the Galaxie and Fairlane lines.

    Not sure. You can contact the guys over at Vintage Air and chat with the tech guys about it. When we were there They were either just finishing it up or just starting it. The car (a cool looking blue 1978 or '79 Z 28) still had it's interior in it. The folks at Vintage Air are great to deal with...we know because they put up with us for 5 days.

  • @AutoRestoMod

    You are welcome. tell the guys at Vintage that our video help make the deal. We dig the AC in the wagon. It should do even better in an El Camino.

    I live in a hot San Antonio semi-arid desert in texas, can I remove the heater hoses (Delete?) hate the heat dissipate along with fumes into the cabin. 1970 barracuda non-ac car. thanks in advance

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep just pug the ports on the engine. I know that neck of the woods and it can get cold there. I might see what I could do to get the heater controls fixed. If you do decide to dump the heater, I'd keep the box around. Mopar stuff is hard to come by.

  • @AutoRestoMod
    @AutoRestoMod  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    We'd rather have a wagon than a mini van for shooting cars in action. 99.9% of the stuff is shot from mini vans and we feel that the wagon will serve us better. And in the anti-cool wars the wagon is cooler than the mini van hands down.

    Raaaa, this is their universal kit, for those folks that don't have a Mustang (Vintage Air offers a sure fit kit for many applications, Mustang included). as if this episode, there is not a kit for the Fairlane series of cars, and this kit is designed to fit anything that is not in the standard Vintage Air lineup of sure fit systems. If we get enough requests, we can do an install of a Sure Fit system on a Mustang.

    Any tips or advice, or maybe y'all could come help with adding vintage air to my 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury?
    There's no exact kit for it on the vintage air website so I'm kind of leery to do it

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd invest in the empty case they sell for trial fitting a system. Then it is a matter of how and where the lines go. Note that I didn't say "simple". That is what we did with the Fairlane.

    @AutoRestoMod  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Richard we are sorry to report that the closest thing we have is this: Episode 15 Installing Vintage Air AC system in a 67 to 69 Camaro Autorestomod. And the shop finished the car and didn't tell us so we couldn't go back and shoot the engine bay. We do know that Vintage air was working on a kit to suit your car when we were there in June of 2012. We might tackle that project in the future so stay tuned.

    @AutoRestoMod  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    LOL, suicide doors AND chopped? While a cool idea, not. gonna. happen. It is already lowered a bit and we really don't plan to muck about with that stuff too much; it has new suspension and steering gear up front. One thing we have always wanted to do is make Ranch wagon out of one of these (chop up a wagon and a Ranchero and make a two door wagon).

  • @AutoRestoMod
    @AutoRestoMod  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well thanks! We try and spread the love as much as we can. We'll be doing some more to the Fairlane as time goes on. So keep tuned. If you call in to Vintage Air about the kit and like the install, they can set you up with a Universal like ours. They kept notes on all that we did. Tell them you saw it on Autorestomod!

    any ideas on why my aftermarket AC unit draws 11.5 volts when off? I measured it at the positive post to the supply line for the AC unit. the weirdest thing is when you remove the post lead and then touch it to the post it Sparks a little and then the volts climb back to 11.5 like a counter! Nothing is on and it's a 57 Chevy so no computer. Help!

      Make sure that the A/C is not wired to a constant voltage source. The power wire should be on a key on.

      thanks I am looking at that but it was too hot to keep trying to find where the power supply goes to. it's got the AC unit shoehorned in the dash so it's a pain to source where it goes. I'm putting a 12 amp toggle switch in till I find the place that wire goes. thanks for the tip!

      I was a be mechanic and if you want to have the slowest bug in town put air in. the plugs will have to be accessable so the AC unit will go on the driver's side. I drilled two holes in the body to get to them and you can get a plug type grommet for the holes. I don't recommend this job. my two cents

    With a heater core that small, I'd be concerned about heating ability. Most older cars are capable of 120°F vent temps easily! So to go from the large OEM unit to that anorexic looking thing... Well, I'm curious of the performance numbers.
    As for the A/C side, that thing looks massive! What is the system capable of one recirculation?
    With an evap core that big and with a TXV, it's got to be some really good performance numbers, ja?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all seems to work well. Right now we have no door seals and no back glass so I can't give you numbers, but the heater heats and the A/C blows cold.
