Have been listening to this for years... I've changed, my life has changed, as I've been through a lot but the emotions that I get while listening to this masterpiece have stayed the same. Oh, also, the short-haired lady at 0:20 that was enjoying this masterpiece is truly fascinating. I wonder what she was thinking about.
My only - and really only - slight complaint is that not all the singers are on board. The tenor sings ejus which is great - and, in fact, I learned something about French-style Latin. But the wonderful bass seems to sing "eium" of all things for eius. The accusative termination is just a mistake and that's fine. But the -i- instead of -j- is a bit sloppy. But this is what one might call a quibble.
Like fw woe that's awesome excellent uploading good job big thumbs up thanks for sharing stay blessed with good health & great happiness/safety be connected thanks

@Giovanni Destafanis.. despite your opinion, this how latin was prononciated in France at this epoc and how it should be sung for real interpretation in the good style!.. Italian prononciation of latin in France was imposed byt 'opus dei' around the 60ties!..
"Opus dei in the sixties" ? Bullshit, just wrong, because impossible : I began to learn Latin, with this "Italian" pronunciation, when I was 12, in 1958. It's a tradition of the catholic church which, indeed, has many roots in Italy, that's all.
Not quite as good as the recorded version I have with Dominique Visse but what a magnificent piece of work - one of the oldest prayers known to man set to music that gives me chills. He always gets the handsomest counter tenors. I really do think Charpentier is the best french baroque maestro.
There are other versions available on TH-cam which, I believe, are better. Specifically, The countertenor here is too flowery for my taste. The music is delicately beautiful as written; no need for embellishment.
I still prefer the version of Les Arts Florissants with Dominique Visse, and the Italian style pronounciation. Even as a kid, when the mass was still in latin, we never used this way of pronouncing latin. I am sorry but I thoroughly dislike it.
Bella e musicalmente rigorosa produzione.

Lesne! Wow. The whole ensemble is fantastic.
Ce magnifiant est une pure merveille
E' l'unica versione veramente degna di nota. Non ho trovato altra interpretazione così ben curata.
Magnifique version d'un Magnificat magnifique !
I love this song so much... I can listen to it all day...
Very, very beautiful! Lesne's voice is exquisite! Bravi! Thanks for posting.

The short-haired lady is soprano Noémi Rime, sitting next to Véronique Gens. The third soprano is Catherine Bignalet.
It is very nice to hear some French-style Latin. It's very seldom done, and this is a wonderful version to hear it in.

you are absolutely right.
Les Arts Florissants used to be the best in the 80's. Nowadays it is not the same...
It's back! Whatever the people who keep removing want to keep it posted, I'll pay it myself.

At Charpentier’s epoc they pronounciated French latin
👏👏👏👏👏
Dear Mehdi, do you know where I can purchase, or get access to, a CD or other replay of the full performance?

And the Anglican cathedral choral tradition too. @@AlainNaigeon
not italian but ecclesiastic pronunciation as latin was spoken at the origins in the catholic church

Gerard Lesne is the greatest countertenor I have ever heard !!!

Aunque el tono y ejecución me parecen buenos.

Hey! This healed my poor, painful neck and my numb hands already with its first few bars! I can sleep well tonight. :)
