This is wonderful. I first saw Mark’s work decades ago and recently started catching up with his practice on instagram. This Art21 video has brought me up to speed on his ground breaking (forgive the pun) career!
There's a Dion "sculpture" at the Seattle sculpture park where he placed a piece of nurse log inside of a room and in a couple decades the glass ceiling will be broken by one of the trees growing off of the log. Nature is the best artist.

so why couldn't this be accomplished within its own natural space instead of enclosing in glass which adds a dimension of artificiality?
tar and decaying rats .That is going to be one hell of a smelly sculpture
