I still have difficulties accepting that when encountering a civilization with a technology that's hundreds of years ahead of ours, humanity would be so trigger happy without realizing the potential devastating consequences.

Roswell wasn't a crash. Aliens are not dumb enough to crash. There have been crashes in most countries, aka shot down. Yes, the human race is idiotic. There is a reason Earth is not ready to join a Galactic Federation. It would be the end of civilization as we know it. No need for money. All the elites will be like everyone else. We would have free energy, medicine beyond our wildest dreams, to even end death, etc. It would be a paradise. But the rich run the world, so sadly they won't give up our nukes and comply. The same story has been told in every country. Look up, Valiant Thor. An alien who went to the White House, there are photos of him. To meet with Eisenhower to ask to remove nukes. He stayed in the white house for 3 years and vanished from history. No one to this day can recognize the man, claim they know him, etc... Truth really is stranger than fiction. Eisenhower's granddaughter claims to this day, that he made a deal with them for technology. But, I bet we went back on our deal. It is impossible for Aliens no matter how smart to figure out how to communicate to the entire race of humanity and give us a poll of what we all want as a species. So we have war-mongers as our intermediaries... Say goodbye to Earth when we blow ourselves up because people preferred superficial riches and war over utopia.

The English dialogue is rubbish because it' not the original movie dialogue, it's dubbed from the original Russian.

Okay... So something obviously much more advanced than us lands on our planet.
And instead of trying to make friends, we get ready to try and kill it.
Who's to say that a single round accidentally fired at it wouldn't be enough for the aliens to decide "Okay, hostile planet. Retreat and destroy the planet."?
I understand we'd need to take precautions. But trying to make friends would ultimately be our best chance of survival.

When it comes to the issue of Alien first contact, my greatest fear is that they get in touch with the Americans first. That would mean immediate annihilation because the task would be handled by the military. And they only know how to mess shit up.

Ok first off, this actually angerd me in a way I can't explain. I've never been so upset and angry and disgusted with a scene. Why in the hell would we send someone to talk to a alien as first contact, who is literally a little kid and cried like a littile B. I'm sorry but someone professional needs to be able to walk up and talk openly and consistently. But no he cried and fell to the ground and was so nervous. I literally don't know why this pissed me off as much as it did. I'm so Angry

This movie was honestly very good I pretty much liked it
I always laugh at stuff like this. The universe has existed for 13.8 billion years, the possibility that an alien civilization becoming intelligent at the same time is so small it is practically non existent. At the very least they would be a million years ahead of us. At that point, if they had the technology to get to Earth, they wouldn't simply crash into it like dumb-heads.
Actually, in the book "Project: Hail Mary" it explains this quite well. Basically, all contact depends on certain similar windows of opportunity/tech in time, that aliens, and us might be able to communicate. Basically, those that have evolved greatly, either don't care, or are so far advanced, aren't even aware of us. Or have no need to explore any more(.they got their answers they needed)
Those that haven't evolved to space...yet, so they are still on a home world.
So that leaves the middle window of technology. Similar space fairing species, wandering about, that our technologies, are just "close enough" apart, that we and seek/bump into each other. Like sailors learning to navigate the seas. The boats may be vastly different, but still exploring, or patrolling on the same plane/medium. ( Let's say, like an aircraft carrier...to an indigenous raft for fishing.)
So, yeah, it makes the outlook remarkably smaller, yet makes enough sense, that plausibly, if we ever meet, that one of the species will at least understand the others function of tech. ( Much like the "astrophage" in the book. It doesn't know it's found aliens, but we know we found aliens) hope that makes sense.
And there would be no reason for any of the extremely unlikely aliens to waste time and energy popping in and out of Earth's gravity well. there are no resources on Earth that aren't way more abundant and more accessible in space. We've had movies ab aliens stealing our water, but there are clouds of H2O in space that contain more water than exists on out entire planet. The only thing unique about earth are the life forms that inhabit it - and I would expect intelligent aliens to want to study other sentient species by ageing with them rather than conducting anal probes upon them.
