    I wonder if it’s ok for one person to travel Europe...??..maybe with a cassette toilet..and a visit to an air b&b / campsite...weekly??...thank you so much for this video.i like the straight forward manner easy to follow.i will watch more in future cheers

      Hi James, thanks for the comment. Very nice of you. European travel will probably be a bit awkward this year I think. Sadly that means that not only do we all miss out on some amazing adventures but everywhere in this country is going to be at breaking point. At least we may be getting back to some sort of normality...slowly. Happy travels and stay safe and well.

    I've got a v6 converted myself and i absolutely love it. Mpg maybe slightly out. I sold a r33 gtr for this!!!!! No regrets, well sometimes i do but as an around daily jobber and an awning it's fantastic

      Hi Darren I love the smoothness of the v6. From what I've been told there's not a great deal of difference in mpg between the engine models and yes they are very adaptable quirky vehicles aren't they.
      Thanks for watching, stay safe and happy travels

      They are great little vans. Compact enough to fit in any parking space but with enough room to sleep comfortably. Thanks for the comment

    Hi there, very useful! Can you give me an idea of how much your van cost, approx, and how much your conversion was?
    I bought one last year, R reg, for £2500, and I'm slowly working out how to convert her and what layout might best suit me and my dogs. Many thanks for your video. I found it very encouraging!
    It made me smile when you said it's a cracking little van. That's what I wanted to hear! 😁

      Hi sarah, thanks for the comment, really appreciate it. I bought the bongo as an 8 seater tin top. It's a 1999 2.5 by petrol and cost just over £2000 subject to a few repairs needing. Thankfully no rust at all on the van. The conversion was my own design and is still ongoing to be honest. Not worked out a cost yet but it's probably around the £2500-£3000 mark at the moment. Still want to do a few things to it yet. It's just 12 months since I got it so I'll be doing a vid shortly to cover what I've learnt along the way, plus some good and bad points.
      Thanks for watching

      @@TheHappyWanderers1 Hi mate, how much was the roof from New Dawn? Looking for a hightop myself but seems everywhere is pop top mad. I can’t understand why anyone would buy a nice camper then stick a tent on top. Defeats the object. Very nice conversion mate, what do you do for keeping the beers cold?

    • @TheHappyWanderers1
      @TheHappyWanderers1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rodd1000 hi m8
      The high top was approximately £2500 if I remember correctly. What a transformation its made. Cant imagine having to bend your neck in the van all the time. By far the best upgrade to the van. Some people are put off the high tops because of the limitations in some car parks but it doesn't bother us as we tend not to use town centre car parks anyway. If you're thinking of having one fitted, go for it, you won't regret it. I know of a couple of people who paid to have a pop top fitted and a couple of years later had a high top.

      Hi Karl. Forgot to say we use a 30ltr coolbox in the van. Works fine for us. Was considering a fridge but with the layout we wanted it would have taken up too much storage space. On longer trips we just buy bags of ice to pop in when the ice blocks thaw out. Sits in the passenger footwell when parked up. Hope this helps.

    Glad I found your channel, do you think this would be good for two adults and a 3 year old?

    • @TheHappyWanderers1
      @TheHappyWanderers1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many people use theirs as a family camper so I'd certainly wouldnt say no to that. Theres only two of us now as the kids have grown up and moved out and if works perfect for us. All depends on the set up I suppose. For us a driveaway awning is a must for anything longer than a weekend. Just gives that extra space if the weather turns or you're feeling a bit cramped in the van. For shorter trips we have a pull out awning on the side of the van which enables us to get the chairs out under a bit of shade. Sorry for the long answer. Good luck with yours.

    Mazda bongos are far better value than any T4, T5 or T6, there is nothing vw trumps it with apart from looks and styling which is all vein anyway 🤣

      Youre so right Angela . As a friend said to me when I first looked at the bongo."the Japanese dont make things that dont work". How true is that.

      Good morning, thanks for the comment. The VWs are expensive to maintain but good on the styling side. I prefer my old bongo though. There's something quirky about them that makes them a joy to own. Frustrating at times but no plans to get rid any time soon.

      Thanks for the comment T R. Apart from the relatively poor mpg by today's standards the van suits us perfectly for our needs. Cant see me getting rid for a while yet. Hot nowhere to put a bigger van anyway😀. They are a bit quirky and retro which i like.
      Take care.

      Changed the facia plates to phone though. Saves.me getting a ticket😁😁😉. Thanks for watching, and commenting , really appreciate it.
