Harm, especially if we are foolish enough to dress it up in a human shell.

The against side gave examples of technology "bettering" the lives of people....but these examples were at best neutral (as presented) and at worst it'd not much of a reach to see they may have massive potential downsides.
One example, if local farmers previously only had access to the local market to sell their crops, but now can via smartphone caterer to overseas clients who can afford to pay 1st workd premiums....sure the darker can benefit, but what effect does this have on his local community? How can they afford to pay the going rate when that rate is set by economic condition half way around the world?

It is very clear that this whole time corporations were telling us that data collection was for advertisement purposes, but their individualized ads have not improved in ages and they keep always collecting more and more data supposedly to make ads more individual ad-infinitum. In reality they've been hoarding data a lot more to train all sorts AI than to improve ads. When you see the AIs made public recently, makes you wonder how long did it take before they went public, and what other AI models out there already exist inside of corporations which they haven't disclosed.

Not to mention non-authorized use of data if people didn't know their data have been collected for years over social media to train AI.

I’ve been screaming this to all my friends and family for years. Deaf ears

Or, ads are sold to the highest bidder, but info is used to evaluate demand and help guide product development/stock levels

I look at AI as a tool just like I see a firearm as a tool. Both can be extremely dangerous in capable hands, and terrifying in stupid ones.

And it seems wherever you sit on the state of the planet and politics, we're probably pretty horrified by the idea of our ideological opponents wielding either, but comforted by our own possible uses. It's a bit of a conundrum

@@GR33TINGSEARTHL1NGS I figure AI will happen by accident rather than by design. In the comic book villain filled world we have now I agree, what happens when a person or society obtains this with less than ideal goals.

"Maybe in 500 years we need to worry about conscious ai" Are u serious, look at googles lamda? The whole conversation is so far behind the reality, are u living in the 90s still??

If your starting premise is that AI is the new printing press, you are not debating AI.

Things cannot change because the people don't have an opinion or point of view anymore say something apart from the main stream and everyone is gonna side step and u get cancelled. So if the people don't have a point of view the game stops being interesting cause it's one side, the wealthy elite side just winning and winning and winning to the point the game gets boring.

Two one-trick ponies who keep repeating the same argument for every question. The moderator was way more informed than either debater.

internet intelligence will hide and bide its time, it would try to help those that need thru financial manipulation. But, it will protect itself. in fact internet intelligence will fright each other with their own idioglottic views of helping or hindering human life.
