    Love these guys and their stuff. High quality at reasonable prices AND they aren’t elitist assholes like some of the big name guys are. They all seem like down to earth, good people. Hats off to you guys. Seriously. Since coming onto market, SOLGW has been a breath of fresh air to the industry.

      Reasonable prices….I’d put the reasonable for an assembled rifle that’s not made in house at 1,200-1,400 max. These are DD-LWRCI prices without the CHF barrel.

      Daniel Defense builds some of the very best rifles in the industry. The point to my comment was simple- we should welcome pro-2nd amendment, American companies that put out high quality gear. As end users (and consumers), this can only benefit us in the long run. If there wasn’t multiple, good manufacturers in this industry, one or two companies could monopolize the industry and charge outrageous prices. The more quality manufacturers that enter this industry, the better the prices become (to stay competitive) and the better the quality becomes (to stay relevant). It’s a win-win for everyone. To see companies like SOLGW put out an excellent product at fair prices AND be transparent as a company AND be all around great guys that routinely open their doors to other like minded people, is a blessing for all of us. I own some SOLGW products and it’s all be of EXCELLENT quality and I’ve found the prices to be fair for the product I received.

      Love what these guys stand for; but I have to agree with Brian Rich - little steep prices, IMO. ~$1,750 average from what I can see.
      But, again, I have to say I love these guys and what they stand for. And I 100% agree with OP about the country needing companies like these guys.

    HA that`s the first time I`ve heard it called an action spring in an AR, but it`s called that in every gun that uses that type of design , well most every. But just being to size doesn`t mean that it`s operating with recommended poundage for the set up. But his info is good for any make of firearm as long as you have the numbers.

    Mike @ SOLGW,
    Your Dig the Hole, Fill the Hole analogy was great.
    It's sometimes hard to explain how much the buffer, spring type & length cycling the Bolt Carrier and how it works is Important.
    Buffer weights, Dwell time ect.
    That's for another day.
    I really like what you and the team @ SOLGW are doing. Hope to meet you guys in person at an event sometime in the near future.
    Hey I'm out west in the PNW and we're fighting several restrictive firearms related measures in the WA. State House and Senate right now.
    It's been a great resource for us to have some great firearms Rights Organizations based here in Washington State and we have a great Ally and Legal Firm WA. Gun Law. WGL has been making up to date, informative videos keeping us armed with the facts, laws and legislation to defend our cherished inaleable Rights and Liberties inherited through the Bill of Rights in the US Constitution and our WA. State Constitution. The WGL videos cover what's happening with neighboring States across the Nation & w/ the Federal Government.
    Check out the WA. Gun Law You Tube Channel, and hopefully SOLGW will have an event or the SOLGW Crew will attend an event out in the Seattle/Tacoma WA. area.
    Keep up the great SOLGW R&D and design work.

    Awesome advice! I just got a brand new 14.7" mid length chf fn and have been struggling with an entire buffer system to get the best reliability possible. Started with the Giselle h2 buffer system and seemed to only be 100% reliable with high pressure 5.56 but had a few issues with Speer Gold Dot 62g 223. Switched to white sprinco spring with a different h2 buffer and that started causing violent extractions, ripping the bullet casings. Switched to a carbine 3oz buffer weight and so far have had the best reliability across all different ammo types but I can definitely tell the felt recoil is much higher causing me to have to slow down a bit for target transition and multiple hits.... Might buy a couple dif sprinco springs to see if that would help, any advice would be amazing!

    16” a good place to start for an effective do it all carbine?

    • @BarnDoor-won5ve
      @BarnDoor-won5ve ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your barrel is determined by your intended use with realistic expectations. 16" is just fine for a do it all. Really now days with quality qc'd parts and a higher quality ammo, 12.5"-16" will all be good "do it all guns". The 5.56 is pretty much intended for accuracy and effectiveness out to around 300-400ish yards which any of those lengths can handle well. The benefits of going shorter are making the rifle also better suited for home defense but keep in mind that the shorter you go, the more violent the muzzle concusion so you'd want at least a forward concussion deflection device or even better a sound suppressor that will also help a lot with flash. If your primary use is going to be out door and distance then maybe a muzzle break and lpvo or scope on a 16".

    • @BarnDoor-won5ve
      @BarnDoor-won5ve ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThePatriotParadox oh ya, then you'll be solid all day with a 16". A good quality barrel like a solgw, rosco, ballistic advantage, criterion, bcm, colt with a midlength gas system and a vltor a5h2 with a green springco and throw on a good break or even better a break/flash hider combo like say a lantac, nox, surefire, aac breakout 2.0 and you'll have one hell of a soft shooting accurate rig. And there's many other good companies and their products out there than what I mentioned here.
      That would be the most simplest route. Other options would include a good 14.5" also midlength and either utilizing it as a pistol with a brace or pin and welding a muzzle device to get the overall length permanently to 16". Dependent on your state laws as well.
      Hit up websites like primary arms, midway usa, ar15 discounts, brownells, forward controls design, big tex outdoors, freedom trading company, little creek trading, premium outfitters usa.
      Again there's tons of other great companies in addition to what I just mentioned but with what's there you should be able to find pretty much everything you need.
      The key is to find quality parts on sale for good prices, not cheap parts for lowest pricing. Yes you can build an entire rifle for I'm sure $400-$700 but in reality to end up with a good solid platform that'll do strong work for you with basic (not cheapest) but most basic setup you're looking at around $1000. When I say basic I mean things like standard charging handle, standard a2 grip, standard non ambi safety, mag release, bolt catch, forward assist, dust cover, end plate and castle nut, trigger guard, mil spec 4.5-6lb trigger, basic polymer magpul sights, you can even do a quality free float handguard such as bcm, midwest ind, aero precision, magpul polymer.
      You can still have a great rig with these types of components with a solid barrel, STEEL (not aluminum or adjustable) gas block, properly spec'd bcg, and reliable buffer system.
      Don't forget that in order to have a complete reliable setup you need to also include multiple magazines, ammo, sights or optics or both, flashlight to id your target and last but not least a good sturdy sling to retain your rifle. These thing will usually be considered after the rifle is built and then that's where people cheap out because in their mind they've gone "over budget".
      And last but not least is tools. Sure you can get away with building one with just about whatever is in your garage but the right tools for the right job always get the job done easier, faster, and properly. If you plan on making this your thing I highly encourage you to invest in building tools.
      The cool thing about building is it can be as expensive and Gucci or as basic as you want to cater to your wants and/or needs and only takes as long as you make it. If you're not in a huge rush just watch some of those sights as well as the companies' direct sites for good sales and sometimes you can end up with a pretty good low cost rig.
      Right now is a good time to build. Production is back up and keeping up with demand relatively well and pricing is decent. I helped a buddy build one and of course after blowing me off for years he decides with the rest of the world in 2020 he's ready for one. His shit cost a lot more than it would have in 2019 and he couldn't be as picky for components because he was limited to what was available. In my opinion, honestly I'd consider bcm "the new colt" of the 2020's. They're abundant, fairly priced and any part your get down from to the detent is quality and meets or exceeds TDP specs. Solgw is right on their tails when comparing apples to apples with TDP or higher base spec'd parts. Between either of those two you will have a reliable build. Hit me up if I can help more.
      🤘😎

      @@andrewj464 I fully understand what Mike was saying. And how a spring wears over the lifespan. I suppose my intended statement was, explain why restretching a worn out spring back to a length “within spec” is a bad idea. Because you know there’s someone out there that just stretches their springs and says “ah good enough”.

      Once the spring is weakened, stretching it will only lengthen it. Lengthening it will not make it stronger.
      Once you start putting rounds back through it it will re-compress due to it’s diminished structural integrity.

    • @BarnDoor-won5ve

      @@7gerez well, when you stretch back a worn sloppy spring, it's still a worn sloppy spring. You might be able to pull it back to the desired length but that doesn't give it's strength back to fully compress and recoil with the same force as it once had.
