You, Mike Morgan, and GP are making me very envious of those wonderful skidding winches! However, since Santa already brought me a new Kubota L4060 (cab) and several implements earlier this year, I think a skidding winch will have to wait till retirement a few years from now (especially if I’d like to stay married LOL!) In the meantime I’ll just enjoy watching you all use them! Thanks for all the enjoyable and informative videos you have published this year, Kirk! Merry Christmas to you and your family, and all the very best for the New Year!
It must feel great to have the winch to assist now - so much easier and safer, I think. And you will be able to get at those good firewood logs you couldn't reach before. Merry Christmas!
Louisiana Tractorworks & Projects we have so much snow and it’s not even January going to be a tough winter. The winch is going to keep me in all the firewood I’ll ever need. Thanks for the comments appreciate it. Merry Christmas
Dave Kana I don’t see the point of a remote because your going to end up at the tractor anyway but I might be missing something I haven’t thought of since I’m new at this. I do know it’s best to focus on your tractor while you pull a log rather than the log itself so if something goes wrong you can stop the winch. Say if the front of the tractor comes off the ground you will catch it faster.
I am concerned that the ROPS on your tractor is not as effective when it is folded down. The terrain appears pretty level, but working in the woods things can go wrong really fast.
I think we were logging during the same days! The only difference, I was having above freezing point weather. I like that logging winch. What are the two ropes you use to control the winch? One is for the pull. What about the other? One more question for you Kirk, the rope you pull for pulling a log, is that proportional? I mean, the more you pull on the small rope, the stronger the winch will pull the log? I see you did not change your bucket to the grapple. But with the logging winch, you can push the logs to the pile anyway. The L4060 does not seem to be in labor pulling those large logs, even without chains in the deep snow! That is a beast of a tractor! Again, you have a nice land. Thanks for sharing Kirk!
From Steel To Wood Adam is right blue rope is to lock the winch and the harder you pull the white rope the faster the winch pulls. I was told by the salesman to pull it as hard as it will go all the time because it was better for the winch. When I have a full day to devote to logging I will switch to my grapple but we get dumped on so much with snow it’s a pain to go back and forth and with the snowblower on the back it’s nice to have the bucket on the front in some situations iam sure you agree. So far I have not needed chains the four wheel drive works well. Thanks for watching appreciate the feedback.
Very some. Until last week I had an L4740 Kubota and a Wallenstine logging winch. Very awesome set up.
That forestry winch looks handy. I might need to look into one of those. Good video. Thanks!
Woods Tree Farm thank you
It works great its going to help out a lot
They are great. I own a Wallenstine. I pulled alot of wood with it and it still works perfect.

Kubota L3902 is it strong enough to have your set up winch in forest?
Sorry I don’t know the HP of that tractor or how low the winch HP is rated but I’m sure it’s on their description on the internet.
@@backinthewoods2022 37. 5 hp and
30.3 to 32. 1 hp Pto
Keep the Farmi vids coming! Would you recommend the remote control or is this sufficient?

Back In The Woods How many log skidders did you check out before you bought the Farmi Forester? There’s also a 351P. Thanks Dave!

I usually do have them up can’t remember why they were down during this time. Thanks for watching
@@backinthewoods2022 I figured you did but wanted to mention it because many people don't think about it. I love working in the woods

White rope is for the clutch and the blue rope is for the brake to lock the winch drum.

@@backinthewoods2022 with this time and age dont they make them as an option a remote control?
@@BlackDevill9 yes they do quite a bit more$

Slick as what? You forgot to tell us. 😅
