- There's so many different monofilament fishing lines out in the market these days that it can be difficult to choose the right one for your fishing situation.
In this video, I provide an honest review of three lines I've been using over the past few years (ESP Syncro XT Loaded, Avid Outline Camo & Nash Bullet). I'll explain the positives and negatives of each one as well as the situation they're best suited to.

If the line is wrapping around the butt ring, that's called a frap up, which is usually down to the line having too much stretch. Daiwa Sensor is notorious for frap ups due to how springy, or stretchy, the line is.
I forgot to mention. Other reasons for experiencing frap ups are, you've loaded your reel incorrectly, or, you've overloaded it.
If, for example, you have the spool of line in a bucket, with the label face up, or down, you'll get line twist - which in turn will cause a frap up. Korda used to recommend the above method, but they soon realised they were mistaken.
The only sure fire way of preventing line twist when loading your reels, is to ensure the spool of line is spinning clockwise on a spindle - to achieve this, ensure the line is being unwound from the bottom of the spool.
Used syncro xt for ages now!!
Wouldnt change for toffee- thames, canal, big pits, small snaggy lakes can count on one hand the amount of times its been cut off!
And can wang a solid bag or 4oz lead over 120 yards with it! For 20 quid a spool dont sleep onnit!!
I found the same with the avid line, its very weak. Ive just got a spool of the syncro xt loaded for this winter so hopefully it goes well
Yeah, I learnt the hard way to ignore the stated breaking strain and go off line diameter instead.
Keep the Syncro XT Loaded nice and wet and it'll behave really well.

I wonder if you can help , I’m currently using Gardner pro light blend and esp synchro in 0.4 & 0.37
I’m fishing a small water and need to get my lines down , I’ve found the Gardner 0.4 good for this , but both lines give me problems with twist after a fish or constant casting etc
Would the bullet mono in 20 sick as well as the above , I’ll have to also take a look at the avid line if it’s available in large diameters

Great question! You'll certainly getter better sinking properties with thicker line so Nash bullet mono in 20lb (0.40mm) could be a good option.
It might also be worth considering trying a fluorocarbon main line as that'll definitely sink like a brick! I've heard good things about Gardner Tiger Line, although, I haven't tried it myself.

It's normal to get line twist after playing a fish, especially with abrasion resistant lines.
To remove the line twist, all you need to do is remove your rig, lead, leader, or tubing, and then, walk your line out.
Before walking your line out, you need to lay the rod on the floor, open the bail arm on the reel and walk the line out about 100 yards, or further, if you're casting beyond a 100 yards.
Then, simply wind your line back on to the reel under tension by extending your arm along the rod and wind the line through your hand.
You'll notice your line will have no more twist.
You can use wrapping sticks, but they're not as effective for removing line twist as walking the line out
Hi. The seller sold me Camo Avid line 0.28mm. How much di you think this line can handle regarding the size of the fish. Will it handle for example 10kg carp?

It looks like you've got the 10lb version from what I can gather. There's no reason you wouldn't be able to catch 10kg/22lb carp using it. When you think about people doing distance fishing, they often use 10lb line with a shock leader.
One thing I would be careful of is to ensure you're not fishing near any snags as this is where you might want to consider 0.35mm - 0.40mm line diameters.

It all depends on the situation so it's difficult to give exact advice.
What I would say is 10lb line is quite thin line for carp fishing so treat it with care. For example, don't go whacking 4oz leads with it 😉
ESP XT Loaded is awful, had the 18lb literally skim a leaf on a branch and it went with a chunk of a common on, never used it since.
