They test these helmets on dummies and machines. Not really humans for weeks or days. So they utilize the same movements on a machine not promoting any wear during testing. Up and down a thousand times will not compared to a human taking it and carrying it putting in in and off your head,,, neck movement's while riding. Garbage helmet's

Looks like a good looking helmet. I really can’t stand a full face helmet,pretty much only in cold and rain. Great review good info and it did look like it was cold even tho the sun was out. Great job hope all is well spring is coming 👍🏻🇺🇸
Spring is coming and thank you! I’ve always been full face except for my first helmet. I think it’s because of motovlogging as I have no issue with people in none, half or 3/4 helmets.

I will say I have always liked the look of the helmets. I have seen a bunch if not so happy reviews on previous models. It's good to hear they seem to have fixed a lot of the major issues people complained about. My issue is I wish they had a place you can go on and try them out before purchase. Or hey Ruroc 👋 😂

Excellent review. I'm pondering getting a 4.0. I've seen some folks post they are having adhesive issues with theirs. Beings you have multiple can you advise if thats been an issue? That shiny on shiny looks ✨ 🤩👍 by the way.

I agree with your assessment points. Had mine a few days and I am very glad I gave it a shot. It exceded all expectations except I still want the chin vent slider on the outside unless im moto vlogging then I actually prefer the button being inside lol
Haha yea it’s really an odd placement for the bottom vent but at least it’s there. This will sound gross but on the Highway once I was able to open and close it with my tongue as I was fighting the wind hahah
Nice looking helmet, profile reminds me of the Icon Airflite Jewel. Adjustable cheek pads are a great idea. Just got a LS2 Challenger with side vents that whistle at highway speeds, so I think it's a tough balance to get a quite helmet that vents well.
A fellow motovlogger has an LS2. I don’t necessarily want to promote another video of mine but look for one where I make the Ruroc quieter. He took that an applied to his LS2 and said it saved his hearing lol.
I just purchased the reaper 3.0 not long ago, hopefully the liner and pad upgrade will help, your reviews are in par, thanks man

@@christopherclanton6255 hey man. I actually tested this out yesterday and it makes the 3 feel amazing. I didn’t do the top liner as I hate messing with that. I have no idea when “replacement” pads will be available but keep an eye out.

Yes there will be the gloss carbon like you saw, as well as a raw carbon and the nebula (colorshift) carbon

Hahah I’ll pass that along lol. I don’t foresee the nose rub being an issue. It’s not a constant just when I move my head at a precise angle.

Probably a couple a years or so ya lol. I wanted to like the 1200 but my head shape wasn’t right for it, love my rfsr though.
Sounds very interesting with those vents especially for me in hot Arizona. Now I am waiting for graphics. I like the silver as a whole color scheme… What about price? Any difference from the 3?? Any ways now I have to look it up lol!
No price yet but I assume it’ll be same as the 3. The graphics for the first run are hit and miss in most peoples eyes. I have my eye on one in particular.
I'd love to see or hear more about how you adjusted the cheek pads by removing the top layer of the foam. It seems tricky to get it back in with the hook at the top. Did you cut it away with a knife? Noticed there's a good amount of glue between the pads as if they aren't meant to be removed.
Very delicately to say the least. I think the ultimate plan for the future is they will sell replacement densities. The foam was maneuverable enough for me to work around that hook.

First, and I've been saying this (similar to Eric), you traveled to Ruroc's event spending out of your own pocket. Did you get a "free" helmet...sure. But it probably wasn't near the total cost of your trip (flight, driving, lodging, food, etc.). Point is, you should feel completely free to share your opinions and views of the 4.0 and compare it to any helmet you've worn in the past with no hesitation.
Second, again, Eric is spot on. You've always been a fan of the Ruroc helmet AND given your unbiased opinions on each version you've bought. So keep doing what you're doing!
Lastly, great review! I have been watching the Ruroc helmet evolution since the 2.0. As of this version I am almost at the point of purchase...lol. I am going to be picky with this amount of money so my only hesitation now is color and graphics. I have not been a fan of any of the previous graphics (not that they aren't awesome...just not my thing). I am liking the Nebula and the Ultramarine.

Just received mine yesterday, I know I'm late to the party. I love it, fits well. But it fogs up like crazy for me! Maby, I'm just a mouthbreather! The visors were hard to get on but after a while got used to it but they are hard to open and shut, especially with gloves on. On the inside ubove your forhead, the plastic looks like it's gonna peal away from the shell! Hopefully it will stand the test of time.
Yea pinlock is very much necessary. I haven’t had anything peel away. The detents can take a bit of time to break in but get better over time. Good luck!
That Mercury is really nice. I'm not too much a fan of all the teeth designs they have. I feel too old for that lol. I'm gonna finally try out an Atlas since it seems like they have finally fixed some key things. I just hope it goes well with a cruiser, as most people seem to be on crotch rockets with them. My bike is black and chrome, hopefully this Mercury goes well with it. Is that a chrome visor you are riding with?
Hey Brian I know many Harley riders (myself included) who use Ruroc. Black and Chrome, you can go with Mercury or the Liquid Carbon would look boss too. Not to send ya to another video of mine but I did an unboxing of that and it’s beautiful.
I’m really pleasantly surprised at the updates they did to it. This helmet version will be around a couple years I’d imagine.

Personally I need Ruroc to come out with a transitional visor. Something that doesn't require me to take 2 separate visors when I know I'll be riding in extreme sunlight and still be out riding at night. I'll be switching from my HJC to a Ruroc 4.0 but really hope they release that lens.

I'm so tempted to get one of these but there's a few things stopping me, I've seen some people saying their customer service and returns are dodgy and I'm seeing a lot of people saying they had to buy a size or two up so I don't know what size I'd be. Still tho, I love it
Those are fair concerns. If you are in the US they just opened a US distribution center so those returns are easier. Sizing, well I’m around 62cm and the xl/xxl fits me. My wife was 56cm and the m/l fits her nicely.

I measured my head and their chart says I'm a L/XL, but my Scorpion EXO T510 is a 2XL. I used to wear Shoei's years ago, but they changed their shape and well, they're rather expensive, so I switched brands. What size Shoei do you wear?
Hey there. I wear an XL in my Shoei RFSR which is said to be for 61 to 62cm head which is right about where I am, 62.5cm. I knew the 2xl would be way too loose.

For size comparison do you know how many inches or centimeters your head measured in at? I was thinking of getting the L/XL but maybe an XL/XXL. Your input would help a lot.
Shipping and stock shortages would make it hard to get a different size if I guess wrong.
Sorry for the late reply. My head was about 62.5 cm and the xl/2xl was super snug on me but it broke in over time.
@@ChopperFett Thanks. I went with the 2xl and it fits perfect. My favorite helmet. I put night shift (lightmodehelmets) lights on my helmet and it looks super nice.

what i wanna know is the quality of the clips on the pads if they've been improved. coz it feels like it wasn't addressed.
If you are referring to the snaps and things of that nature I’ve probably had the pads in and out about a dozen times for various reasons, filming, putting mic in etc, and the snaps snap in well each time. The plastic part that slides into the helmet also feels to connect a little better than it did on my 3.0

also, i would only trust a review from someone if this was a retail sample and not a preproduction sample just like what you have there. i will wait for a more long term review of a retail sample ordered by someone not under a youtuber's name and to a different address. that i will watch.

Hi, I have a 57cm head measurament which is on the middle between the 2 sizes, on the site they advice me to buy an S/M. I'm little worried if it would be too tight... what you suggest? S/M or M/L?
I’ll tell you what I would do, but this is just me.
I’d probably opt for the smaller S/M size. A lot people are saying the sizing guide is pretty accurate. Couple things to keep in mind for maybe a peace of mind.
1. Order a S/M and it’s too tight, you can take layers out of the cheek pads to dial in a custom fit.
2. Order a M/L the helmet may be too big now. You’d have to wait til they release the S/M liner separately. I’m fairly certain they are the same shell, so really only the padding would be different.
I know that’s not the best answer but it’s just hard to judge. I’d suggest looking for Ruroc Motorcycle Gang on Facebook and look at the reviews of people in a similar head size.

After measuring my head I'm at the top end of medium large for their helmet size size. I just don't want to go to the next step up because I've have problems getting a helmet that fits right when I put it on but gets really loose once it breaks in. I'm at 23.5" so I'm right at the top of.... do you think I should get that size or go a step up since the helmet I ordered hasn't been dispatched yet I might still be able to change it.
Good question. If the size chart said ML it should be ok, maybe quite a bit on the tight side. Again though there is a zipper on the cheek pads that has layers glued together. You can take out a layer or two like I did to dial in the fitment .
@@ChopperFett ok thanks. I contacted ruroc about changing the size. they told me I would have to cancel my order then reorder it again which kind of left me a little disappointed and now contemplating on just canceling the order all together.
@@alanfarias6285 yea the ordering system for changes can be a bit odd. Did you use the form to try and change the size or how did you contact them.
@@ChopperFett I contacted them directly through email and on there WhatsApp. I really like the helmet and I really wanna keep my order but if it's gonna be this difficult just to exchange for the right size before it even ships out a month from now what's gonna happen when I have a real problem. if I can change my size before they send it why not just change it instead of me getting a size that's too small and having to pay for shipping to send it back. all this can be avoided by simply just changing the size on my order. If I do it their way I have to cancel my order wait for the pending transaction to get removed from my card then I'll be able to reorder it again with a probably even later shipping date. That just seems like too much of a hassle for something I haven't even received yet or even shipped I could just take my business somewhere else which I don't want to.

I still like the look...the 3 was shite with the liner and noise (skeptical on if the xtra padding by ears solves this, doubt it tho they shld just get rid of that asthetic feature). Def stupid graphics tho (Joker) look like a bunch of squid gear but hey your bag...BUT biggest thing is that Fidlock, cant track this so theres no point for me to own...and if i didnt track i would never trust that system for anything more than a mtb helmet, sorry RR dumb move keeping that esp with the upgrades and Rheon tech which i feel is a winner tech
Hey man much appreciated on the watch. I think and don’t quote me on this but fortnine did a stress test and typical d ring was best but fidlock wasn’t terrible. I think it’s the reason it’s not track rated if I’m being honest. The fidlock is great for street use though. I’m rereading your post and you are agreeing with me in my whiskey state lol. I really don't think this helmet is competing with Shoei, they're different helmets.
Having owned just about every Shoei on the planet at some time I can say this does compete. Shoei is not bad by any means, but they got a lot right with this version. Thanks for the watch.
I was surprised they invited Gears and Gasoline after his previous review. Lol. So far sounds like with this product seems to be taking peoples criticism about their previous products.

When it comes to the shockwave would I be able to use the unit itself but switch out the speakers with some jbl speakers?
The way it plugs into the unit I’m not sure as one of the plugs is a mic input. I’ll try it out though if I can find some headphones to plug into a Jack and get back to ya.
You’d probably lose any comms ability but if your focus is just music it’s worth looking into
Looking at it, if your plugs are the connectors with the two lines, def possible.
On Charlie here is what I found out. The shockwave puts out audio in stereo. If your JBL speakers have two connections (the two ring ones and are the same size 3.5mm) you could plug into each input and get stereo. If your headphones have just one plug, the sound will come through but it’ll be mono on the channel it’s plugged into. Hope that helps
@@ChopperFett that’s great news I think it will work! Both speakers go into one 3.5 mm headphone jack, which should fit right in to the shockwave. This means I’ll still be able to plug in the microphone. Now I’m not sure if the microphone will work but I atleast know the port is still open. I wonder if having the 2 speakers connected is a good or bad thing?
I dont want to get their BT unit since I have a Sena. Would I be able to install that on here?
Yea for sure. My wife has a Sena 20s EVO on her 3 and the 4 uses the same shell so should be good to go!

How many and about shell size
I think the shell sizes are all still the same, the sizing inside is just tighter than before. If you were an xl like me the xl/2xl is gonna be what you want.
So attempting to use my shockwave for a call or music at speed actually makes sense now?
If you are referring to wind noise then yes absolutely! I felt since one of the later shockwave updates they increased the volume on it as well. When I’ve ran the shockwave on the 4 it sounded a lot better with it fighting less other noises now.

Definitely yes in my opinion. I have a 2.0 Mech that I slipped on the other night and it felt NOTHING like this. The 4 just feels so much more premium than I was expecting.

Hey Kyle, they kept it tight lipped while I was there (or just didn’t hear lol) but my guess is similar to 3 maybe plus $20 or $30.
Im sorry to say this but RuRoc lids seem like overpriced fashion accessories - their are lots of established helmet makers with helmets that get the highest safety ratings for less price than these lids. Ultimately a lid is worn primarily for its function - if its form looks good its a bonus, but RuRocs seem to have been built with the form to be more a priority than its function - just my opinion.
You can def say this of the past, but this one is ECE rated, quiet and I’d put it for to toe with Shoei. Go check out gears and gadgets who has been a very big critic of Ruroc

Ohhhhh good question mate. As tight as the helmet fits I don’t think it would bop back and break my nose. I’ll report back.
Can the 4.0 pad fit the 3.0 helmet?

@@ChopperFett could you try it and let me know.... please 🙏🏼 🙏🏼. I ordered the thicker padding for my atlas 3.0 and ruroc sent me the same stock thickness liner smh, I'm very disappointed. They tried to tell me it was thicker but it wasn't. Took over a month to get them to refund me i sent lots of pics of my old liner next to the new one but the customer service rep said thats the only ine they have but I know thats wrong. Now I have to try to reorder the thick liner and hope they send me the right one. I don't know what else to do. Expensive helmet I can't use.

@@Albrightreport ok buddy, I had a chance to try this out. The cheek pads swap perfectly, I expect the head liner would as well but I hate messing with that one. So this was done on the largest shell size so infer how you please.
1. 3.0 XL Helmet - goes on easy, maybe too easy
2. 4.0 XL/2XL Helmet - Goes on tight and requires a slight adjustment to ears but no biggie it feels great on
3. 3.0 XL Helmet with 4.0 XXL cheek pads, fits nice and tight like the 4.0, little looser because the head liner
Cliff notes the 2XL pads from the 4.0 are more dense (tighter helmet) than the XL pads (loosesr helmet)
How much is it gunna be
No price announced yet but if it’s like past launches I’d expect it to be within 20-30 of that so maybe 470 core?
These just arent safe helmets… Period. Not worth risking your life over.
