I feel like this isnt all of it, once you understand the big movements on the right side of your stick, imagine that the bottom your car is the hood, this will trick your brain into knowing the left side of your stick, its the same movement as the right stick vertically, just on the left side. Then, try to learn the right side of your stick when the bottom of your car is facing you and rinse and repeat. For the smaller adjustments treat it like your normally steering, but time short inputs when ever your hood faces you. Do this for every direction untill you can start alternating. Practice this until you can alternate with all four directions, forwards backwards and left and right. Congrats you can fully steer with longer and shorter movements now. The next step is to learn how to use it in game which I recommend griffilicious' two most recent videos on DAR.
And are you saying this as someone who applied this advice and has mastery of air roll or did you see it from another video? Not being confrontational just want to know where this is coming from.
@@soothingseas you bring up a good point, While I did discover the trick of swapping the bottom and hood myself, and have applied it successfuly, I put this together from a mixture of videos, espeically from Griffilicious, and Strong Joshua. the way I would teach DAR is a mixture of videos from previously mentioned Griff, Strong Joshua, and a video I saw more recently from Losfield. I had only seen Griffs' and Strong Joshua's videos at the time but now I highly recommend Losfields for 'smoothing out' your air roll. (Griffs teaches you initial control and use best, Joshuas teaches fine control, like the "alternating" part I mentioned in my comment before, you are absolutely right that I took large parts of this from other videos. I actually learned air roll left, and I have even more information on it now, as I have picked up right as well. To be completely honest I discovered the whole, mind trick by swapping which side of the car you view as the hood, on accident, but it sped my DAR left training up by quite a bit. (I was able to use a similar mind trick for air roll right by imagining that the underside of my car was the hood, but to less effect. ). Extra tips I have had since this comment: I saw a video from Losfield (I think...) where he describes a "clock" where you spin your joystick with the rotation of the car. This, if timed properly, keeps your car from changing direction. Learning this clock method of this once you already have some control significantly smooths out your control. When I learned air roll left, I was able to hit things like air dribbles and ceiling shots relatively early on, but it was 'robotic', so to speak because I did it with pre memorized motions of holding the stick in one direction, when I started realizing I could increase the speed at which I turn by doing half a tornado spin, then switch to a reverse tornado spin. After a couple months of this it just became smooth. The losfiled method, I believe is a great way to 'smooth it out,' as I have been learning Air roll right, I have started to see the robotic-ness. This makes it so going for things like resets felt very unnatural, and while it wasn't a problem with left as my mechanics improved with control, I need right to catch up more quickly, and I have already seen massive results from this, and admittedly, I already have the feel for how the stick should be spinning, or the 'clock' because of left. While I am definitely no where near pro level control, I went from no DAR to need to to use less within a month or two.

Hi im learning air roll right after using air roll left after years of mastering to know both. I have improved a lot but still have so much more to learn. But I find myself using the right side of the joystick more when using air roll right when I am aware that it should be the opposite. It works well for me but I feel like it might be a bad habit, how should I go about this?
After learning this myself and watching countless videos I’ve realized you don’t have to actually fully logically understand directional air roll. I’ve been overthinking it most of the time time, treat dar like your learning to walk look at the directions then just do them with repetition, I would constantly try to overthink in the middle of my air roll and screw it up but after a few months I’ve realized my brain should not be doing the calculating,my fingers should. If you’re constantly calculating in your head the next move then you are not focused on the ball above you. Just let the muscle memory happen, then from there learn to perfect it through videos.

Hey Luke, love your vids! unrelated, but got a 3s rotations question for ya, (D2 3s) If I'm the 3rd man back as my two teammates are making a play on the ball, I want to be on the opposite side of the field than the ball, correct? So what happens when the 1st and 2nd man move the ball to the other side of the field, but they keep the play going between the two of them. Then I don't need to come out of the 3rd man back position, but now I'm on in the wrong side(left/right) of the map and need to get to the other side of the field or the "new" back post, and change the way I'm facing. During this transition I'm often caught by surprise shots. Is there something I can do to avoid this? Do I hope there's a "safe" time to do it as 3rd?
Good question. I’m not much lower than you however, maybe like shadow defend and cut back post. Just an idea / option. Not sure how good it will do thi

DO NOT sign up for this mans coaching program. I straight up got scammed and strung along for 7+ months for way too much money. Just don't. The only reason his program makes money is because there is no way for people who have been through the program to give their honest opinions to those who are trying to decide if they should do it.
nah your just bad and don’t know how to learn
Hey Luke, love your vids! unrelated, but got a 3s rotations question for ya, (D2 3s)
If I'm the 3rd man back as my two teammates are making a play on the ball, I want to be on the opposite side of the field than the ball, correct?
