  • I tap out the transducer housing and continue to build up the platform for it, I collect the nylon bushes but still can't hang the rudder as I don't have the correct nut. And I start packing..Sorry its a short one this time.

    You're getting ridiculously good with applying epoxy via popsicle stick!

    Progress is progress, sometimes slow, sometimes fast. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at time. . . . keep up the good work, before you know it you'll be sailing. . .

      I am busting to get out on the water. Maybe she will be in the water within 12 months I reckon

    I have been following your journey since the beginning, so it will be exciting to see the upcoming progress. Having Wanda closer to home will make getting things done a whole lot easier!

      Thanks for following the journey to date Mike. She should be a 30 minute drive away once she has moved which will be great indeed.

    Good to see an update from you Richard. I am sure it will be a great relief to get Wanda within striking distance and regain some pace on the project. What area of the country is ‘home’? Best of luck with the new job too.😀👍⛵️

    Be good to have her closer to home. Will you be able to get any footage of the Coppercoat process?

    • @aboatcalledwanda6925
      @aboatcalledwanda6925  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Michael probably not as Rob will do it in a day. I have seen him do it before - I will need to finish a small few patches myself later with copper coat so I will be able to video the process at a later stage for everyone to see.

    Never boring 👍. Can you tell me, was the sanding at 04:57 time lapse or just sped up video? There was definitely (?) time lapse at the end but I watch lots of vlogs ... Tally Ho, A2A, White Spot etc and I can rarely work it out. Thanks and good luck with the move👍

    • @aboatcalledwanda6925
      @aboatcalledwanda6925  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey SJ it was sped up video - I can't sand that fast ! Most editors will let you speed up the video by 2x, 4x, 8 x etc. The end part was time lapse as you spotted - one frame each 10 - seconds.

    Richard, is that rudder nut stainless steel? A previous owner of my 352 had replaced the original nut with a stainless one and it eventually suffered from galvanic corrosion. My rudder stock is made of bronze and a yard here in Portugal machined a new nut for me from similar metal.

    • @aboatcalledwanda6925
      @aboatcalledwanda6925  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are dead right Andrew - not a great idea to mix stainless with bronze where you can help it. The nut I bought was a cheap one just to check the thread type and size; specifically if it is a metric 24 mm. As it turns out it is not. I didn't want to order a bronze one for 60 GBP before I confirmed the thread. So the stainless steel one was just a tester. Incidentally, the rudder stock, nut and all other materials should be bonded together via an anode on the rudder pintle - at least that is my understanding. Does your rudder have an anode on it?

    • @andrewcarter4628
      @andrewcarter4628 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aboatcalledwanda6925 No rudder anode. I do have a bonding wire attached to the rudder stock in the aft cabin. This was already fitted when I bought the boat 12 years ago. I did fit a hull anode years ago to better protect my Bruntons Autoprop and bonded the propshaft and rudder stock to that.
