I don't think I'll ever make a barrel like that. But I will definitely use the separate techniques and jigs for other projects. That's one thing that's great about your videos, Izzy.

I love that bandsaw jig for cutting those ellipses. The barrel was really cool. Would be cool to fill with ice and serve wine. Or make an ice cream maker out of.

There was enough material after the band saw oblong jig cut to make another one. Super stuff Izzy. You are an amazing guy.

The whole beauty of wine barrels is that the pieces are bent around to fit, so that the grain follows the curve. Also, the bottom is fit from the inside, if I remember correctly. That is how they can withstand high pressures.

Very cool project. Again really good thinking out of the box (barrel this time). Therefore many thumbs up here.

in halves, the possibilities are endless.

Nice use of the elliptical jig will be doing this for sure. I love to turn segmented bowls and I roll them up with the tap as to get started as well Then I take plastic wrap and twist or bunch it together and stretch that around it a few times top and bottom pullin tighter each wrap. This makes clamping up any segmented cylinder easy. I hae tryed every thing from ruberbands to ratchet straps and the plastic wrap does the best. Izzy plz keep feeding us more ideas

Hi Izzy, just wanted to say thanks for all of the enjoyable videos. My wife says that I spend too much time watching you and others make stuff. She doesn't understand that we have a mutual need to create. She paints and I sometimes am able to get her to paint something that I have cobbled together. The satisfaction that we get from something we have created with our own hands is universal. Please keep doing what you do. Your hands are an inspiration to all of us.The little barrel is super.

That looks really good, I've been trying to come up with a way to make a barrel, but haven't found too many good ideas on how to go about it other than segmenting it kinda like you did. That jig made it look a lot better than just being straight staves basically.
