Chinese culture is rich of traditions and has lots of wonderful arts. Hope this will carry on for the next generations. Lion dance is one of the arts and has been an amazing performance throughout festive seasons 👍

I remember my first time watching a lion dance, absolutely mortified at the noise and costume but after a few minutes I began to enjoy the performance, always liked it since at hopefully this tradition doesn’t die out in malaysia

We still have our old lion head. Its child version. My sister brought it so her son can lost weight by learning lion dance.

I believe there were and still are some living in modern day Iran and the middle east? That’s considered Asia. Plus a giraffe made its way from Africa to Ming China before, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some trader brought a lion over to the Middle Kingdom.

This is the precise reason lions have a semi-mythical status in these East Asian countries...they probably only saw very few actual lions...the ones they saw were through and connections with India and Iran...if they were normal everyday animals, they'd be in Chinese zodiac

There's statues of lions in Alhambra. I once asked my teacher isn't it is not encouraged by Islam to put animal statues. He said, the statues doesn't resemble the real lions. I think that also applied here. That lions don't look like a real lions at all. Furthermore, most of houses don't keep the lion head at home.
