Only 20-25% of Bengalis in India are from present day Indian land. North of West Bengal (Farakka baragge ke dusre side and in Northeast India) toh ek v Bengali Indian land se nahi hai (East Pakistan ya baad mein Bangladesh banne ke baad aaye, avi v regularly intruding horaha hai.). North of West Bengal is basically habitation of indigenous Rajbanshi and Mech communities. 6 cr. is the no. of intruders and their descendants, total population of W.B. including other communities like Rajbanshis, Gorkhas, Mech, Adivasis, Lepchas is 9 cr. Even if a Bengali shows his/her residence in a panchayat area, specially in North of West Bengal and Northeast India, they have just purchased a land in the village post the illegal migration. In India usually a village is developed in phases and mostly out of the same ancestors. But the Bengalis of North of West Bengal and Northeast India, even if they are settled in a panchayat area is because they have purchased (in disproportionate price / just paid in peanuts) post they successfully reach Indian land. Even in towns and cities they have land possessions mostly in three scenarios:: free allotment by W.B. govt. (settled them to use as voters for their party. **Laal party or the communist party's highest achievement was to settle East Pakistanis and Bangladeshis in Indian land.), illegal possession of unused govt. land, purchased from locals in a very disproportionate price. People from other parts of the country usually know Kolkata to be the cultural capital of Bengali people but actually Dhaka is the cultural capital of Bengali culture. We have misunderstanding of it because Kolkata was used a capital of India during British rule. Capital of British India was set up in Kolkata to establish the port to access the sea route. But most of the Bengali culture including food, attire, music etc. are from the areas of present day Bangladesh. Only after the partition, the Bengalis that we see in India have migrated to Indian part. They still crave for Dhakai jamdani sharee, ilish fish from Padma river and so on. Of course there were Bengalis in Indian side too and in today's scenario it counts to be 20-25% max. of the total Bengali population in India. This is the scenario post migration. Now imagine what happened to the rights of the indigenous people of these areas and to their aspirations in politics, economic growth, social status and their cultures!!
@@pankajdutta9131 bengalis r always irritating to others....they always try to impose their language and culture on others.... that's why i dont like them
Any wise person will know that "pen is mighteir than the sword". But when the simple but victimized people were not heard (hundreds of the Northeastern people in the peace march were gunned down!) when in the "Assam movement" they peacefully demonstrated their intolerance to the central policy of dumping illegal Bengali migrants in the Northeast region, a fraction of the "Assam movement" took arms movement as thier way to be heard by the central government. If you (mainland Indians) continue with the "might is right" policy then the sentiments of Northeast India will never be with you. We are not asking for anything irrational or out of context. We are not asking for any development which anyways we were always deprived of and the future long term development projects makes it more clear that the proportionate growth of Northeast India will never meet the actual growth of the country, rather the difference will be more distinctive. Our least demand is to get rid of the Illegal Bangladeshi migrants from the region (only 20-25% of the Bengali population of India is from present day Indian land, rest almost all are illegal migrants of former East Pakistan or the present day Bangladesh irrespective of their religion), which should also be a national concern. The migrated Bengalis are taking over our land, political rights, economic opportunities and are pushing the local languages, cultures, social aspects etc. to the edge with their agressive people organising abilities, driving political parties' agenda and lobbying in the government and non-government organisations. This way indigenous people of this region are more deprived of their rights and further pushed back, rather they are pushed back to the edge to be unrooted. If people from another country (illegally migrated) have more rights over the indigenous people of the land then what should be the course of action for the fellow countrymen and the government of the people, by the people and for the people?

Do we have the obligation to protect the language, culture and other rights of the Illegal migrants and even provide political protection of these rights, for example their language as the official language of the state they enter into / they landed in huge numbers.
Just because they make a sizeable number, do they have the right for political support for their interests? Is this the character of Indian democracy that our forefathers have designed? Just because they are smart enough to influence our politics and lobby in the government and non-government organisations do we need to surrender to their agenda? Does our Indian democracy have such weak structure or such easily mouldable frame that such illegal migrants punctures it from within and creates disharmony among the rightful citizens of this country?
