I think the Elites are one of the best headphones out there, and I never understood the reviews when it first came out because it did not mirror my experience. For open back flagships, it has the best bass and widest soundstage. A little sibilant in the 10khz range, and not a detail monster, but everything else about it is A+. Glad to see a later review like this giving it the praise it deserves!
I’m a long-time devotee to the Elite and have been enjoying them on both tubes and solid state amps for years. I just got a ZMF Aegis, and it has taken the Elite up yet another level from my Mjolnir 3 and Quicksilver Headphone Amp. I heartily agree that these headphones are the whole package once you find the right synergy.
Even with EQ the bass is below a $500 Hifiman, the pads dull the highs. Far better than the original Empyrean, but they were sonically pathetic so still ways to go. A pleasant listen, but unimpressive.
Great video, as always! I am running my Meze Elite Tungsten from a Chord Hugo TT2, and my experience has been “OK” with the setup. I actually enjoy the pairing of my ZMF Verite Closed with the TT2 better. Your video has me looking into getting a tube headphone amp and running my TT2 in DAC-only mode to feed the headamp, in order to elevate my Meze Elites. The LTA Z10e has caught my eye, but I have no need for the electrostatic amp or the speaker amp, I just want a great headphone amp for my Meze Elite to get the same experience as you got here. Do you have any experience with the other LTA headamps like the MZ3 or the Velo, or is the Z10e recommended if just using for the Meze Elite?
@@Craftsman_Kevin in regards to the LTA not yet, but I’m trying to arrange to bring some of their other units in. I love their work. But in my opinion, tubes integration is the way to go for the elite it truly brings it alive
They look so gorgeous, to me the most beautiful ones with Atrium. You should keep them just for your Hitman night outfit on the hotel suite waiting for your date, with your black hair, sunglasses and black jacket the Elites are the lethal weapon till party arrives :P Now more seriously (I swear last comment was also serious), glad to see a re-review cause your journey in experience, taste and better products has evolved crazy in just 2 years.... but if they are not a recommended match with Ferrum sounds way to picky for mortals.

@ConvinceMeAudio Damn Koji you got some IMPRESSIVE response time lol. Yeah I had a feeling you'd say that. I'm getting ready for my next Endgame purchase and really dug the Bravura and Elite but Caldera is one of the few I've never had a chance to try... that and AB-1266 PHI TC. I love my Stellia for its analytical and articulate sound. I know a few people have said Stellia isn't all that great for a clear reference sound but I honestly hear more nuances with it than I do with LCD-5 and Utopia which is kinda nuts. For my next one I just to get enveloped by the music. Not necessarily caring about the realness of the tone or how transparent and clear it is, like a Susvara, I just wanna get lost in it emotionally no matter what I'm listening to
@@MrJ.31 cheers, it’s appreciated, being developed in a headphone where it utterly disappears might be best to start looking into the chain and rediscover the collection of headphones you have now, rather than keep changing drivers, what system are you running at the moment because once you get to the top level, what happens is the headphones disappear? @@ConvinceMeAudio Do Elites hit as hard as Caldera in the bass region? I already have Empyrean 2, so i'm thinking to give ZMF a try. Atrium is also tempting, but i would like for a second pair to be more resolving then the Empyrean 2 (not laser resolving), just to have a better sense of details. That's where i think Empyrean 2 is lacking a bit, for example for Metal music.

With EQ the Elite has an high potential. Total disagree. Only Susvara beats the Elite's bass in all the Hifiman line to me.

Hi! As always badass review! 💥 I'm between this Meze Elite or Modhouse Tungsten, which do you like the most!? Thanks for your reply. 🙌
I think you will have a far easier time of it with these tungsten DS. You need to really consider your chain you need so much voltage and headroom.
