Having a man like you in my life is incredibly helpful. Losing my dad to suicide at a young age has been a life long process of growth, and your channel truly helps me. You’re an incredible human being. Thank you Dad
my dad didn't spend time teaching me how to do anything when i was young, and i just bought my first house last week. it needs a LOT of work. I was so frustrated & embarrassed today because I needed to do something with a drill and I don't even know how to use it. I just found this video & am so grateful. Thanks for helping me not feel stupid. it means more to me than you can imagine.
I think the little tips and tricks are what really make these videos shine, like I can go and search how to use a drill but I would never learn some of the tips we're getting here
It's funny how when someone else says "I'm your dad" it's an insult and then this guy adopted the entire internet and absolutely no one has a problem. In fact we're thankful. Thank you.
68yo lady here. I never had anyone teach me how-to use tools. I just bought this drill and hate the paper instructions it came with. Thanks for making my life easier. I actually uttered "I'll be damned" out loud, while watching this. TY 👏👏
I can't help the huge smile that crosses my face every time he says "Hey kids." It's a beautiful thing to have a corner of the internet that isn't riddled with toxicity and spite. This man is a global treasure.
You, sir, are a national treasure. I hope that you do not get overwhelmed too much, and continue to offer dad-ly advice and dad jokes that are pure gold.
Many of us aspire to be a great person like you are. Thank you for setting such a wonderful standard, somewhere along the way we lost this in the shuffle of our "way too busy" lifestyles.
Just a lil extra tip, most drill bits get hot when they're in use drilling, so when you take the drill bit out, let it drop onto the table rather than lifting it out with your fingers 😊 it's best to get into the habit of just letting them all drop rather then getting burnt from it
I learned this the hard way when I put one between my lips to hold it while putting another bit in the drill and burned myself. I learned not to take shortcuts. I'd rather have the extra step of picking a bit up off of the floor.
My dad was deported back to Mexico when I was a toddler. Thanks for all the videos, I wish you could see how truly capable they've made me. Love you Dad
Just to say that I am a 51yo mom with an excellently supportive family, I am here to support every one of your videos because I believe in what you are doing but I also see all the benifit to our youth that you are providing. Good Job Dad! You are a Peach!
My husband died four yrs ago and I’m having to do everything. Been using my drill like Yeah... I did that. But I was using it all wrong! And now I know what all those bits are used for! Thank You for the lesson! ❤️❤️❤️
Not here because i need any information - just wanted to come by to thank this man and let him know what an absolute angel he is. This man deserves everything. Much love ❤️
I know quite a bit about everything he talks about. Been doing these type of things since I'm young so I'm pretty experienced, not to mention being a certified welder. And yet, I still watch these videos. They're amazing, wholesome, and just joyful honestly. The comment section is nothing but pure positivity and I think that's what we need right now in the world ❤️
My dad passed away when I was 9 and I just want to say thank you for your channel. I cry watching every video because your personality is so so similar to my dads. Thank you ❤️
As someone who's learned all of this, with my Dad, I STILL will watch all of this, and it warms my heart. THIS is one of the many things that should actually be taught in our schools. Thank you for teaching everyone how to take care of things on their own, learn how things actually work, and hopefully saving time and money and curing people of being unknowing about basic life skills that, in my opinion, everyone should know.
just came across rob and his community. like JUST now. looking through the comments and videos just brings me a sense of overwhelming support and love from rob and the community here. i am so happy that i have been introduced to this man and this community. i hope i can make some friends here and learn some new skills!
You are a hero. People like you make me think there's good in humanity. I have my dad even tho my parents are divorced but he has been a good man. You are doing what million of others refused, quit or weren't able to do anymore. Sir, I hope you keep on the good work and you deserve all the good in this world. Thank you
Just came across your channel. Thank for being an amazing "dad" role model. My biological was absent and my step just loves to mock me rather than teach because "females don't know how to do anything". So thank you truly.
I am so glad I found your channel. I lost my dad 7 years ago and this year my mom bought a rental property that needs fixing up. Finding your channel has been an invaluable help.😁
I helped an older friend replace her rural mailbox, using a handheld screwdriver to secure the wooden base to the mailbox and to the post. It took me two afternoons! I did not have a power tool. With my palm aching after the first day, I researched cordless drills and screwdrivers overnight. None of my neighbors had one I could borrow, and I decided not to buy one for "one-time" use. As a daughter of a single mom, I was nominated “the handyman”. I’ve used these tools but until now never knew the correct way to load a drill bit, thank you! There was never a class for me to learn this stuff.
For most of my brother's childhood, he grew up without his dad. It didn't faze him that much, but it obviously hurt him. He tried to reach out to him but it didn't really work out. Now he has a daughter and strives to be a better father and be apart of her life.
I was taught most of this when I was younger by my dad. The fact you take time to show people these things that may not have parents so how much kindness can come out of one person. Keep up they great work
I lost my all family in a fire of my house. But with all this years I learned to pass away. I saw your videos because all the father's that I had after the fire was a shit, and they never teach me something. I thank you so much for your dedication. Please don't stop.
I’ve learned so much and felt more loved in some videos then I have in 20 years of life from my own father. These videos make me so happy and I look forward to them all the time, keep being amazing!
I am so happy I found you I am actually crying. There’s so much I don’t know and don’t know how to do because my dad is a grandiose narcissist, so I feel like I’ve never really had a dad. Thank you.
Another little helpful tip that I learned from my grandfather: If you ever strip your screw, stretch a rubber band over the top of the head, and put your drill over the rubber band, the rubber band helps the drill grip the screw much better, it has saved me more than once 😅
You can also use rubber bands around the lids of jars and bottles that are tough to open. It gives you a better grip as you said. Rubber bands or rubber gloves 🧤 😎
And if that doesn't work use a metal drill that is slightly larger than the diameter of the screw and drill through the head until it comes off, then take the part that was held by the screw off and use locking pliers to screw the remains of the screw out
Hello! This is an excellent video -- it's thorough and comprehensive, and I'll be sure to share it with my novice friends! Personally, I've been working with tools for as long as I can remember. My dad, a practical (cheap) man who would rather fix/make/do everything himself than get someone else to do it or buy things new, made sure of that. Some of my best childhood/teen memories involved remodelling or building projects. My favorite one was the summer we spent building an entire multi-level cedar deck from scratch! However, as a millenial woman, I realize that not everyone has had that kind of privilege. Thus, I can't stress how much I appreciate your videos. They give people (who might otherwise be timid or apprehensive) an informative, easy starting point from which, I hope, a love of tools and DIY can develop! 👍👍👍❤️
When I move out and I go into college I’m going to be studying these videos instead of how to become a teacher. If you ever see this I love your vids and I always have a void of a dad. I have a step dad and a real dad but my real dad is really mean. My step dad is nice but no one in my family teaches life skills like this. You filled a void of trust, dad, and knowledge. You are one of the best humans on this earth and deserve a Nobel peace prize.
This morning I had never handled a drill before. This afternoon, thanks to this video, I easily installed a number of sliding cabinet inserts. Strong independent women don’t need a man, thanks to you! Thank you for doing this!
This guy !!!! This guy just totally rocks!!! I’m old now but still learning from him every day !!! I wish I had this when I was a kid and trying to learn this on my own , MAN OF THE YEAR !!!!
Just wanted to say thank you for these videos. My dad passed away in January and was so worried about trying to do certain things without my dad helping and guiding me, these have been an utter god send so thankyou very much Rob 💙
Love you, friend. I'm sorry about your dad; the anniversary of that must have been painful. I hope you are feeling brave and strong today. A virtual hug from across the internet
I love his videos!! I wish I saw this video last year when I purchased my first house! I wanted to hang up curtain rods and I didn’t want to spend money on a handy man. So I went to Home Depot and got a drill, but of course I got the wrong one because it was way too weak to drill into my walls. 😑 So long story short, I had to make 4(!!!!) more trips to the store to get it right. Then I got tired and only hung curtain rods on 2 of my windows. 😂
Thank you for what you are doing. Might I suggest some dad advice videos on life. First date, broken heart, choosing a path, good study habits. You've got a real connection with a lot of kids.
Your step by step method of videos is GENIUS. I'd have no clue what this video meant if I hadn't seen the other 😊 you're the best! Thanks dad and happy belated fathers day!!
my dad never really taught me anything like this and wasn't actually much of a good parent, and my granddad was always good at this stuff but he had a stroke recently and I never got to use the chance to learn this from him boys like me can't thank you enough for what you are doing here
So amazing, my grandma walked out on my dad at 15. If this was available back in my dads time he would be a different person. You are amazing I wish you the best 👏🏻🙌🏻
I’m turning 30 today. I was abandoned by my father when I turned 21. I’ve been on my own and trying to find my way. I’ve learned a lot in the last few years including home improvement stuff and it’s been from really kind people like you. Thank you for what you’re doing for everyone. I hope you know how much joy you bring to people (literally crying as I write this) ❤️
Ok so this is my second comment after the long one, because I just read all the comments and the “hey kids,” just got me..🥺 my father passed away from C when I was 5. You are just adorable and an amazing human. Thankyou so much! X
This is a great idea for a channel. I have an amazing dad who does all the dad things for me so I never learned. He is in his 70s and still doing things for me. When I ask him to teach me she says “don’t worry, I will take care of it for you” I love him but I don’t think he will be around forever.
My dad had divorced my mom when I was born, I have no memories or anything about him, and your the closest person I can call a dad, I love your advice and I really hope you stay with me for as long as I live.💞
This is great. My dad is not really in my life, and I’ve been struggling lately with all the little things I never got to learn. Now that I’m getting older I’ve been craving content like this!! Thank you so much for helping me and so many others who are trying to learn some life skills!! ❤️
this man is holy. like the dad i never had
That's the point

Get it? This man is “holy” because he drills holes
this BEAUTIFUL man, according to legend, didn’t have a father present in his life, so he made it a mission to be a dad to the internet

K, but this video is 27 minutes long with NO ADS 😭💕 he truly is just doing it for our benefit
He has sponsors now
Nothing but class
I got 2 ads in the beginning and didn’t skip so he’ll get paid 😄
Hope he gets sponsor and adds so we can help him at watching his videos. Thanks
You're the dad I wish I had, Dad

The kind of content TH-cam dad brings to the internet is so so pure. Keep it up, dad!

He's technically my half brother. We have different dads.
My dad is still in my life, he’s just not home at the moment and it’s my first time using a drill. Thanks for the simple video 😀

Hello! This is an excellent video -- it's thorough and comprehensive, and I'll be sure to share it with my novice friends!
