- We watch the drama as the baby orphan monkeys are accepted and loved by their new foster mom as they get ready for their next big adventure.
The Vervet Forest is a wildlife documentary focused on the lives of the monkeys at the Vervet Monkey Foundation in South Africa . We join the orphaned and injured vervet monkeys in their adventure and struggles as they battle their way through the foster monkey mom program to become part of a monkey troop again. This channel is for those monkey lovers who enjoy monkeys living their lives as monkeys should.

I feel like bluebells original mama was high ranking in her troop. She's never had to really learn much fear of other monkeys. Nice she's not overly fearful.

Well I don't know about all that strick stuff, but what I've seen of her she's an excellent monkey momma to all babies, she's had one to three babies at a time.

Videos of "Return to Forest" from the Ankor Watt temple sometimes pop up on my feed, and I have watched more than a few, and noticed a difference. The baby macaques never scream and run from the adult monkeys. They'll often run TO them and try to cling, despite being raised with humans. Most baby vervets run from the adults for a while. I wonder what the difference between them is.

There are 4 babies but just Mrs. Gold and Ellie. Won't 2 of the babies get less attention and less grooming then the ones the moms are spending more time with?
Mrs. Gold has took on three babies before, yes, THREE😵💫😂
But they get plenty of help from the whole troop. One was even taken from a momma after being released back in the troop,...guess the kidnapper thought she would be a better momma.😂
I would like to see them have their own individual mommas, but in nature it don't always work out that way.
The other two will most likely find their momma once they're released into the semi wild enclosure. Whilst in the introduction cage, the monkey mom is basically helping the babies be comfortable with mommy monkeys while in the intro cage. There'll be lots of other mom options in the troop. But yeah 4 is definitely a lot lol.
Is there a hormone you could give the foster mom to have her start lactating? I have a friend who couldn’t conceive and used a surrogate. She took hormones once the baby was born so she could breathe feed. It was actually amazing!
I don't think messing around with females hormones is a good idea, unless absolutely essential, and the babies can still get milk from the feeding stations.
They do suckle their foster mums sometimes, so even with no milk, they still get the essential closeness. 🙂
I believe they are all on birth control so it probably wouldn't be a good idea. The babies are fine without mom's milk and some do suckle which makes them feel relaxed and close to the foster mom even if they aren't getting milk.
@@gigicostlow4414 actually I saw an episode where every male had a vasectomy at 2 years old. Not sure if anything is done to females. But every now and then a baby is born naturally on the reserve. Not sure if it’s only in the Bandits troupe (troop?).
