Those guys worked hand in hand in producing some of the most original and new at the time electric soundscapes. Eddie produced Jimi's studio albums and made guitar effects with him. I dunno, price range seems rather reasonable for this kind of limited edition signature guitars....even regular signature guitars in production are very overpriced. Not that it’s justifiable but this guitar isn’t really unique in that regard

Many claim he made Hendrix the legend he was because Eddie actually made Jimi tune his guitar correctly and put the time in to practice before recording such amazing records as "Electric Ladyland". I only hope you were being sarcastic! BTW, Eddie also was a great photographer and took many legendary photos of Hendrix.

6:02 a quick hint on how to open without breaking the sticker. A Hair dryer or heat gun for a few seconds will heat up and loosen the glue enough to make it easier. Just helping out.
You think flying v more than strat? He loved his Gibson’s and these guitars are great but strats are what he played the most and what he did the most with.
Why does Trogly put so much emphasis on the "T" when he says things like "bu"tt"on or "me"t"al"? I always wondered if he really tries to do that or is that just the way he talks. I've never really heard anybody do that like him. Lol.

The original is in the Hard Rock Cafe Vault in London, which is literally a bank vault full of amazing instruments and memorabilia in the basement of the old Coutt's Bank building across the road from the original Hard Rock Cafe on Old Park Lane. I saw the guitar in 2010 when it was on loan to the Hendrix In Britain exhibition at the Handel House just across Mayfair.
@@zosojstro yeah I’ve thought about what Jimi would’ve done if he lived longer...considering lots of 70s rock stars went for fancier, novel guitars (Travis Bean, Dan Armstrong, Alembic etc) I’m sure Jimi might’ve dipped his toe into high end, highly customized guitars at least for a while. Of course most of those stars came back to traditional Gibson/Fender so I’m not sure that experiment would’ve lasted for long but for sure, Jimi would’ve went for something wackier in search of different feel and tone
As a huge fan of Hendrix, this release of this Flying V and the SG both excited me and killed my heart. The fact that they made 25 lefty handed models (I’m a southpaw) filled my soul with joy.......but the price. I want this guitar sooo bad, I’m willing to sell everything I currently own (except my CS 69 Strat) to get this V as a lefty. 🥺🥺😩😩😭😭😢😢😢☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
Hate the relicing, always hate the relic jobs. But, love this guitar. I have a '18 Explorer that's got that mojo that few instruments have right from the start. Really love the split diamond inlays. That would be a nice touch for Gibson to add to all the V's. The super pointy headstock with vertical inlay is a nice touch too. Over priced in my opinion, but nice collector piece. Just imagine if a model like this one were being manufactured as a standard model instead of a signature one. Do you think the ratio between righty and lefty would still be 5 to 1? Two other people frequently associated with the body shape include Albert King and Dave Davies. Would Gibson ever make models with their scroll attached?

Sort of true if you watch the old Jimi vids where he played Gibson, the neck scale didn't fit his new experience playing ... as was kind of the case for Leo strats, oddly the CBS - 'Woodstock' version was dialed in to Hendrix and made his style rock-et. The “aging” on that bridge humbucker cover looks cheesy as hell. It’s always cringey when they do a corny relicing job to a nice, expensive guitar. It doesn’t look “authentic” and just makes what was a bad ass guitar look like someone tried too hard. Gibson = talented guitar manufacturer but a terrible “relicing” company. Heavy relicing can look cool if done really well, but even then everybody knows that a guitar was relic’d, artificially injecting personality and faking years of wear and tear on a new guitar is super lame. It’s a tribute to Hendrix but had zero connection to him, slicing it up with a razor blade and putting 60s paperwork (which also looks corny) in the case doesn’t give it a connection to him. Gibson is just trying to cash in. No this isn’t worth 10k.
Bro you need to brush up on the history of music if you’re gonna review musical instruments. Eddie Kramer is Jimi Hendrix’s engineer and he’s pretty famous in his own right. He’s not some guy who just took a pic of Jimi back stage playing his Flying V.

I have a Gibson faded V from ‘07 and it is one of the most comfortable best feeling and sounding guitars I’v ever played... as long as you are not trying to sit down, I think that is the only downfall to the V, it’s so awkward to play in a sitting position.
I have an '03 Faded V that I sanded down, filled the grain and refinished in Olympic White. I left the back of the neck unpainted with the original satin cherry finish and painted the back of the headstock white to match the body.
I thought the role of producers was to stay in the back and let the rock stars do their thing and take the glory. This comment section seems to disagree. There is never enough corksniffery for the classic rock crowd. Also, neat flying v m'dude.
There are pictures of him playing an SG, white/cream (I'm a bit color-blind), with 3 humbuckers. He also played an Epiphone Wilshire, he said in statements it was a 61' or 62' model, paying around $65.00 for it. P90 pickups. My understanding is it was made in the Kalamazoo factory.

Some guy was handing him the guitars one by one. On the Wilshire, I think in 62', they went to mini-humbuckers, maybe they made a few at the first of the year with P90's. The years before that, they had P90's. I saw a picture of him with that guitar, just type in Jimi Hendrix Wilshire, and you should find it if you're interested. I play Wilshire's, so it interested me knowing Jimi used one, as well as Johnny Winter.
Is it just me or does Murphy Labs seem like a complete disappointment? Some of the aging on the Adam jones along with the tailpiece and bridge pickup on this guitar look criminally bad
Not long after Jimi died I was having a pint in the double A. Pub in Airdrie Scotland with Eric Barret's younger brother. Eric was Jimi's stage manager. He knew that I played guitar and asked if I wanted to come down and see it. Unfortunately I had to pass because I stayed up at Longrirggend about ten miles away and would have missed my last bus home. I know Eric also got the white strat and Monica Danneman got the black one. Do I regret this now ? Not really " I've still got my guitar" to quote Jimi. Have a peaceful Christmas.
Convincing finish checking is really rare, as is a convincing relic. I have a single guitar that's an exception to the rule, and was just lucky the builder was really vibing that day. Fret ends are always a giveaway.
The Jimi SG I saw in person had witchhats that weren't vintage correct - they look like the allparts replacements, which have a smaller footprint than the real ones. From the vid it looks the exact same on the V. Was surprised you didn't comment on it, Austin, it was one of the first things I noticed!

Looks like the aging on this is as disappointing as it was on the Adam Jones. Its so weird they seem to do an alright job with dings/checking but some of the parts that they age heavily they leave a portion of it completely new looking (pickup covers and bridge on the jimi, neck and body wear on AJ). It's very odd because there are plenty of companies out there that do aging much more realistically on presumably a much smaller budget
It’s not strange at all. People are paying huge sums of money for actual vintage guitars. Fender, Gibson, and others can make exact (or close enough) replicas and sell them for a fraction of the price. It’s a win for the company and a win for the buyer. However, it has gotten to the point now that occasionally the new guitar costs more than the vintage one such as the Adam Jones Les Paul and it happens at Fender also the Chris Stapleton Signature Amp has had the same affect on vintage brownface Princetons.
Worked for GC in late 90's early 2000's and being hands on as shipments came in I was shocked at the lack of quality control..it was really my first experience with Gibson guitars and forever has left a bad taste in my mouth..I think the worst one was opening up a custom in the shipping /recieving dept and as we pulled the pink dust cover in the case back it was stuck to the finish.it seems they have gotten alot better..
I’d love some affordable jimmy page signatures. Maybe a David gilmour goldtop with special pickups for that “the wall” sound. Maybe a signature John Lennon epiphone casino. They have lots of options I don’t know why they don’t try harder to do signatures I’m sure many artists would do it

Hate the relicing, always hate the relic jobs. But, love this guitar. I have a '18 Explorer that's got that mojo that few instruments have right from the start. Really love the split diamond inlays. That would be a nice touch for Gibson to add to all the V's. The super pointy headstock with vertical inlay is a nice touch too. Over priced in my opinion, but nice collector piece. Man, that relic job is Uber cheesy. 30 years from now how will a relic guitar look? Once it starts to naturally check, chips will fall out because they were scored with a razor 😂. I played an original V for years. NOTHING should have ever been changed from it. It wasn't broke so why did they fix it???
Sort of true if you watch the old Jimi vids where he played Gibson, the neck scale didn't fit his new experience playing ... as was kind of the case for Leo strats, oddly the CBS - 'Woodstock' version was dialed in to Hendrix and made his style rock-et. Short life robbed all of the best to come. We miss you Jimi thank you for what your musical talent managed to leave behind 4us
The “aging” on that bridge humbucker cover looks cheesy as hell.
It’s always cringey when they do a corny relicing job to a nice, expensive guitar. It doesn’t look “authentic” and just makes what was a bad ass guitar look like someone tried too hard.
Gibson = talented guitar manufacturer but a terrible “relicing” company. Heavy relicing can look cool if done really well, but even then everybody knows that a guitar was relic’d, artificially injecting personality and faking years of wear and tear on a new guitar is super lame. It’s a tribute to Hendrix but had zero connection to him, slicing it up with a razor blade and putting 60s paperwork (which also looks corny) in the case doesn’t give it a connection to him. Gibson is just trying to cash in. No this isn’t worth 10k.

Bro you need to brush up on the history of music if you’re gonna review musical instruments. Eddie Kramer is Jimi Hendrix’s engineer and he’s pretty famous in his own right. He’s not some guy who just took a pic of Jimi back stage playing his Flying V.

I have a Gibson faded V from ‘07 and it is one of the most comfortable best feeling and sounding guitars I’v ever played... as long as you are not trying to sit down, I think that is the only downfall to the V, it’s so awkward to play in a sitting position.

I have an '03 Faded V that I sanded down, filled the grain and refinished in Olympic White. I left the back of the neck unpainted with the original satin cherry finish and painted the back of the headstock white to match the body.

There are pictures of him playing an SG, white/cream (I'm a bit color-blind), with 3 humbuckers.
He also played an Epiphone Wilshire, he said in statements it was a 61' or 62' model, paying around $65.00 for it. P90 pickups. My understanding is it was made in the Kalamazoo factory.

I cannot remember the video, he was playing several guitars from times and players past. Some guy was handing him the guitars one by one.
On the Wilshire, I think in 62', they went to mini-humbuckers, maybe they made a few at the first of the year with P90's. The years before that, they had P90's.
I saw a picture of him with that guitar, just type in Jimi Hendrix Wilshire, and you should find it if you're interested.
I play Wilshire's, so it interested me knowing Jimi used one, as well as Johnny Winter.
Is it just me or does Murphy Labs seem like a complete disappointment? Some of the aging on the Adam jones along with the tailpiece and bridge pickup on this guitar look criminally bad
Not long after Jimi died I was having a pint in the double A. Pub in Airdrie Scotland with Eric Barret's younger brother. Eric was Jimi's stage manager. He knew that I played guitar and asked if I wanted to come down and see it. Unfortunately I had to pass because I stayed up at Longrirggend about ten miles away and would have missed my last bus home. I know Eric also got the white strat and Monica Danneman got the black one. Do I regret this now ? Not really " I've still got my guitar" to quote Jimi. Have a peaceful Christmas.
Convincing finish checking is really rare, as is a convincing relic. I have a single guitar that's an exception to the rule, and was just lucky the builder was really vibing that day. Fret ends are always a giveaway.
The Jimi SG I saw in person had witchhats that weren't vintage correct - they look like the allparts replacements, which have a smaller footprint than the real ones. From the vid it looks the exact same on the V. Was surprised you didn't comment on it, Austin, it was one of the first things I noticed!

I don’t like either one. I did like the Explorer until I had a Japanese made Explorer copy as my second electric guitar in the late 80s. After that I’ve really disliked both. I’ve never been a fan of SGs either.

Looks like the aging on this is as disappointing as it was on the Adam Jones. Its so weird they seem to do an alright job with dings/checking but some of the parts that they age heavily they leave a portion of it completely new looking (pickup covers and bridge on the jimi, neck and body wear on AJ).
It's very odd because there are plenty of companies out there that do aging much more realistically on presumably a much smaller budget

I still find it strange that guitar manufacturers are essentially trying to counterfeit their old guitars.
It’s not strange at all. People are paying huge sums of money for actual vintage guitars. Fender, Gibson, and others can make exact (or close enough) replicas and sell them for a fraction of the price. It’s a win for the company and a win for the buyer.
However, it has gotten to the point now that occasionally the new guitar costs more than the vintage one such as the Adam Jones Les Paul and it happens at Fender also the Chris Stapleton Signature Amp has had the same affect on vintage brownface Princetons.
the fake aging is so ugly it is a shame. they should have just done a vos. hard to imagine that the thought that aging would look good.
It’s a sham. You can hide flaws and sell your factory “seconds” if you call them “relic’d”.

Worked for GC in late 90's early 2000's and being hands on as shipments came in I was shocked at the lack of quality control..it was really my first experience with Gibson guitars and forever has left a bad taste in my mouth..I think the worst one was opening up a custom in the shipping /recieving dept and as we pulled the pink dust cover in the case back it was stuck to the finish.it seems they have gotten alot better..
