Rest in Peace, Angela Lansbury 1925-2022. Sad to hear about the passing of her a couple of days ago on the news.

I'm going to miss her. I was blown away by Mrs. Lovett in Sweeny Todd with her comic and musical timing and her character in The Manchurian Candidate is still, to this day, the scariest person I've ever seen depicted on the screen. Even at 17 she had the ability to create such a menacing demeanor that cut to the bone. And of course, there was also the upstanding Jessica Fletcher. And what an authentic, charming, modest and kind person in real life. So unusual in the world of Hollywood. Like Toby in Sweeney Todd, we were so lucky she was around.

Love it. I remember this one. And Donahue was a terrific host/conversational interviewer. Whether he was "acting" (interested in his guests) or not, I don't care. I bought it.

Dame Angela Lansbury will always remain one of the sweetest and nicest human beings in life. She inspired me ever since I saw Murder She Wrote with her impeccable voice, her sense of timing and above all her unmissable persona. Thank you for all the joys you gave us and still give when I still watch the reruns. Rest in eternal peace Mrs Fletcher knowing very well that you have given us all a legacy which is very hard to emulate . God bless you ma’am ❤

Thank you for posting this! The quality is what it is. I am quite sure I am not alone in saying we are truly grateful to be able to see this! If it bothers some people, perhaps they can listen instead of watch. Have a wonderful day!

It's because Universal met her requests of changing the shooting schedule from a 7 day to 8 day work week. Otherwise, she didn't want to keep up with the grueling schedule.

34:30 The audience member is confused about the episode of “Hunter”, entitled “Murder He Wrote” (which aired on 30 April 1988]. The actress who guest starred in this particular episode was Marge Redmond, not Angela Lansbury.

@@elgeneralxx Hah! Donahue, I believe, was the first to bring the audience into the discussion. Before that, just the panel and the host would talk. Donahue's competition was Oprah - they were both based in Chicago. Eventually, though, he moved the show to NY for a larger audience. His style was often parodied: his seemingly casual demeanor was thought to put the guests at ease; it was also thought to be an act. He had very provocative guests, too. Now, for Ms. Lansbury... you might know her as the voice of Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast. From there, Murder She Wrote on TV. She's an accomplished film and Broadway actress. Check her out!

@@martinsorenson1055 I like your comment, however, I must correct you on one point: Phil Donahue DID NOT move his show to New York to gain a larger audience. He was already on national TV and garnering strong ratings. Instead, he moved his show to New York City because he wanted to be where his wife, Marlo Thomas, was. That decision was and is fairly common knowledge and well-documented. He moved his show from Dayton to Chicago, where it became a national talk-show. He was a trendsetter and had a television presence and interviewing style that few, if any, could mimic. Miss him being on-the-air so much.

A lot of actors changed their English accents when they became actors such as Carey Grant. American actors created their own "sophisticated" way of speaking, such as Katherine Hepburn. Lansbury, grew up in England, but began living in America while still very young. Even people who change locations within the country may even accidentally change the way they speak because they are not hearing their original way of speaking around them anymore. People from the South who move north may begin to lose that Southern twang. The younger you are when you move, the more likely it is. Sometimes what you get is a hybrid way of speaking. It's often not intentional.
