  • Amazing wildlife, a huge variety of birds and primates are typical for the Queen Elizabeth National Park, located right at the border to the DR Kongo. The park stretches over a huge area from north to south where each part has its own distinct vegetation and landscape. Herbivores such as elephant, cape buffalos, topis, waterbucks and Ugandan kob are widespread all over the park. Lion, leopard and spotted hyena are the main predators. During our game drive from Ishasha sector to Kazinga channel we were incredibly lucky to spot a Ross’s turaco and a group of red-tailed monkeys. The famous Kazinga channel connects Lake George with Lake Eduard and is home to hippos, crocodiles and many species of birds like cormorant, pelican, stork and kingfisher. Especially the pied kingfisher can be found in big numbers.
    Welcome to our birding and wildlife safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kazinga channel in Uganda in August 2019. We stayed two nights at the wonderful Ishasha Wilderness Camp in the Ishasha sector and two nights at the Katara Lodge located right at the edge of the rift valley near the famous Kazinga channel.
    For animal identification, please refer to the video subtitle or to the species list below.
    With best regards,
    Sandra and Markus

    Much appreciation to Sandra & Markus. I have just been watching the videos with my boys, one commented, "Papa today you showed us beautiful animals and a nice song". One however kept asking for the names of the animals and birds but I didn't know most of them. It would so nice to add their names to the video to.

    Wieder super Dokumentation! Grossartige farbige Vogelwelt, sehr satte grüne Landschaft.
    Vielen Dank Sandra und Markus.

      Hallo Doris, vielen vielen Dank für Deinen tollen Kommentar, es freut uns jedes Mal riesig, wenn es Dir gefällt. Ja, wir legen wirklich grossen Wert auf die (hoffentlich korrekte) Bestimmung der Tiere und Vögel. Das ist jedes Mal viel Arbeit aber dafür lohnt es sich wirklich. Viele liebe Grüsse, Sandra und Markus

    Aww, that is so cute, the lions really do get up in the trees. How much does a safari like that cost? How did you know when it was safe to get out of the jeep? Could you see Rwenzori Mountains National Park from there? Thank you for the nice video. :)

    • @SandraMarkusTrachsel
      @SandraMarkusTrachsel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear B H, thank you very much for your kind comment, appreciate it very much! For the tree climbing lions please also have a look at our Murchison Falls video. The cost for such a safari trip highly depend on the type of camps you choose, if you have a private car with guide or a group tour bus and of course the number of days you plan for your trip. During a safari game drive you are not allowed to leave the car. Exceptions are designated pick-nick areas, rest-room-facilities, camping sites or when your guide has checked the area and made sure that it's save to step out of the car. Sometimes you have breakfast, lunch or sundowner out in the bush, so there are opportunities to leave the car but not to walk away. Unfortunately the weather was always very hazy and we had no chance to see the Rwenzori mountains during our entire Uganda trip. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus
