Base Building is one of the biggest, most anticipated features that has pretty big implications for what Star Citizen could ultimately become. Will we see this make it into the game this year? I highly doubt it, but I'm willing to bet we will see more information and demonstrations later this year. Get ready to dive into the details of base building and the many things it could bring to the game.
Hi there... as a person who bought this in 2014 and who really has barely played since 3.07 and now just drops in for an hour every patch, base building will indeed change the game and would make me play full time again BUT I have to again ask myself as I always do... "what is the point of playing, base building or not, if the entire economy still gets wiped." No way on gods green earth I will want to play and build up a home and things sinking all that time into it just to see it go the way of the dodo every time they need to fix and reset the econ due to exploits and bugs. So yes base building is indeed a pinnacle feature, but it is entirely and utterly pointless without the permanent non wiping functional economy. If you had no shoes and I gave you one. That kind of feeling. As for "you wont be able to play this game alone ever again!" well congrats, most of the player base is solo like me and has no bloody desire to play with others so if such becomes the case, not gonna go down well with many. p.s. I really wish they used myriad forms of economic systems rather than just plain old miserable capitalism + sole traders. Not a hope in hell this system survives the next 100 years never mind several thousand. Such is life. Rather ironic when you consider socialism has been funding this game from the start.
Umm ding dong whose pledging is to support and help test game and find bugs till beta atleast... Also the whole 800 cig staffs working on star citizen now compared to there skeleton crew before Sq 42 was future complete, Everything we seen at Citcon will be in by end of year this 2024 with that many worker. All we need is for them to get of break and work on game, and apparently they announced at a bar citizen over there break that the first part of base building will be in this quarter.. along with the new lighting and fog and cloud fx and the server thing we need for meshing on top of alot of other shit..
@@codybudris7137 "Everything we seen at Citcon will be in by end of year this 2024 with that many worker." - oh you sweet summer child. No it won't. Are you new to following SC or just blinded by CIG's marketing? They have never in all their years delivered on everything they showed in citizen con in the following year. Most of the big stuff they show off at the cons doesn't make it in the next year, or even the year after. Pyro was first shown off in 2015 along with jumps to other systems. CIG said SQ42 was almost finished in 2014. You can't take anything CIG says regarding timelines/coming soon/etc as being valid. And when people complained a couple of years ago about this sort of thing, CIG called them "roadmap watchers" and tried to gaslight them into believing they were slowing down development. CIG are just a scummy company who are completely untrustworthy. I'd rather give EA money than CIG.
The biggest, most anticipated feature is a good core game. But again, they focus on things what nobody asked for while the game iself is a buggy, clunky, empty mess with the world worst UI. But hey, they working on base building, yay.
and in order to get that they got to add what they can, i see em going the same way as ark did its alpha and betas were janky af, on launch it was kinda and withing a couple of months it was good and were it should be@@merlinwarage
@@ZorroComputersnot trying to start a 20 reply argument just genuinely asking… why are you watching AND commenting on a SC vid is you think it’s a scam
@dutchthenightmonkey3457 scam is different from a ripoff, to be fair. And he's right, they gotta fix basic stuff like that, really destroys first impressions, which are super important for such a controversial game.
I’m hoping for player settlements … an org buys a plot of land and gives permission to org members to build within an area. They would contribute to common infrastructure, like defensive turrets, power, communication systems and landing facilities, as well as paying for NPCs to ward off attacks when no players are logged in. Individuals could have specific modules, like refineries or trade facilities and would share other resources and responsibilities.
I really liked V Rising's ability to collect NPCs and gear them up to defend your castle. It would be awesome if we can hire NPCs, give them armor & weapons, and a patrol route. With the NPC updates which gives them limited ammo and the ability to loot to restock, we'd have to gear them with additional mags as well as a nearby ammo store for when they run out. That would make investing in your NPC's gear (and stockpiles), your base layout, constructing watchtowers with snipers, etc., all super impactful to the overall defense of your base.
@Hav0k you're joking right? You seriously think you'll ever be able to build/own space stations in this game? Dude half the features in the game still break constantly...
@@firstlast6437 all that issues linked to degrading server issues and sometimes physics. that two was the only reason most features break. but mostly its the degrading servers. we really really hope that server meshing solve that.
This is definitely in my top 3 most anticipated game features/loops. The ability to have planetside living facilities alongside what certainly appears to be a full production and supply chain is going to be great. And imagine if you build your base on land that has huntable fauna. There's yet another income stream. Hunt, kill, process, sell. I believe that these bases will also give us the ability to do ship and weapon customization, which is another thing I have been looking forward to, since it was first "discussed" years ago. Most of all, I'm excited about the growth spurt SC is having. Many people have known, for a long time, that when SQ42 was finished, SC would get a huge bump in resources and associated productivity and we're absolutely seeing that now.
I agree completely. I feel like the survival aspect of the game is lacking right now and has so much potential when base building is in the game and will give players another gameplay loop to focus on outside of the usual space flight. And the growth of SC will be a pretty amazing experience to witness as more gets added and we get closer to beta!
Yeah, 100%. The available game loops are still very entertaining but the more they add, the more people are going to be drawn in; And I can't think of a single game that allowed housing, the didn't blow up with players. This is a place where I feel 90+% of RPG's, whatever genre they may fall into, have failed. You can't give a person a virtual life, and make them homeless. You can't give them a virtual life and not give them a way to create. If you do, that virtual life just feels empty.
Everyone needs to realize the sheer scope of base building in a game, and the things it requires to be in place before it can be implemented. I see a lot of comments saying how 'I hope they work on this soon!' and 'I hope development on this gets prioritized!' You all have to realize, there are many, many base underlying systems that need to be in place, which are currently nowhere near being implemented, that have to be put into the game before base building can even function. This isn't simply a 'put more people on it and 'prioritize' its development'. Firstly they have to get this game in a fully persistent state. As it stands now (As I have said in other comments), the game is in an extremely fragile state where you can lose everything to a 30k with absolutely no warning, and the 30k protection they have in place barely ever works. The most it does when it DOES work is it records what ship you were last flying, what the ship had inside it, and it puts that ship into your home hangar. Now you have to realize how different something like that is, from actually persistently keeping entire player-made bases in the open world. You have to realize that the way the game works right now is that it is split into many, many different servers. Each of these servers are their own persistent worlds where if you leave a gun on the ground, and come back a week later, that gun will still be there on the ground, unless someone else came along and picked it up. However... that is assuming that the server does not 30k, as when that happens, the servers do a full reset and wipe everything from the world, resetting to their default state of being with a clean slate. This also means that, when you log into the game, there is no assurance that you will end up on the same server you were on last time you logged in. So while that gun you left on the ground might still be there on the server you set it down on... you could very likely be on a different server when you log in next, and will never see that gun again. For this to be fixed, the game has to be combined into a single server with constant persistence where even 30ks and other server issues don't cause wipes, and no matter what, you are always playing on the same server. This itself comes with MANY issues that they are nowhere near fixing. For example... Currently, we only have one system in teh game. The second system is soon to be added, but that still leaves us with a grand total of two systems, one high security, and one lawless. Now you have to imagine how quickly they are going to add new systems going forward. Even if they add a new system every year (Which is very, VERY unlikely because these things take A LOT of development time), that means 8 years from now, we will have a total of 10 systems. The problem with this is that, by combining all the servers into one persistent universe, we aren't increasing the player count by 10 times, which is how many more systems we will have... Star Citizen has had, on average, 400k players online for the last month or so. This has gone as high as ONE MILLION active players during free fly events. Now maybe you might be starting to realize the problem here... as even if we had a hundred systems like Stanton, which there is no way we are going to see in our lifetime due to the sheer amount of time it takes to develop ONE system... we would still be having THOUSANDS of players in every single system. There is currently barely enough room for the 100 players we have per server roaming around Stanton. Now imagine there is TEN THOUSAND players in Stanton, due to a free fly event. It doesn't matter how many new bunkers, points of interest, or derelict settlements they add, there is simply no way of having enough content in a system for that many players. My point here is, they have so many core issues they have to deal with right now, I Wouldn't doubt if base building was 10 years away minimum.
Ark and eve player here, this sounds amazing. Basically giving you an area you can build and stash valuables safely, but also allowing you to play the ark gameplay of total base attacks, and defenses. super stoked for it.
This is way, way in the back of priority. You have to realize that all of this requires fully persistent servers. Imagine spending all day building a base just to get a 30k and it's all gone. Right now, we basically have a bunch of servers, and each one does a full wipe when they 30k. And we as players, just log into whatever random server it puts us on. The game has to become one big, persistent server to begin with before they can even think of implementing base building, but the problem with that is, we are only just now getting close to our second system. There simply isn't enough content in the game for it to be one big server yet. Imagine trying to do bunker missions, but instead of playing on a server of 100 players, you're playing on a server of 10,000 players.
@@bellidrael7457 i mean you are obviously right, the bases we build have to be persistent in the shard we play, must also be transfereable, but in my list of priorities i wasnt counting coretech, but yeah we do need all that. I wasnt considering it as a play feature.
I’m really excited for base building, it’ll really sell the citizen part of star citizen and add quite a bit of immersion to have your own little place to call yours
Great video. A straightforward combination of confirmed content and speculation in one well presented video. I'm eager to see what comes next from CIG on this. As long as I can get a small inconspicuous shelter with some hydroponic capability, I'll be satisfied. A space-based hab would be the icing on the cake but I know that's still a long way off.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it! And yeah I'll be happy with a simple system, as long as there are things to do with crafting and resources have a purpose.
I'm glad you have reasonable expectations... certainly from what CIG has said basically solo players will only really be able to build at a small scale, and small habitation pods or a small building/shack will be the most you could hope for....perhaps some small machinery too, like a generator, small mining rig, hydroponics, water vapor extraction, etc etc. Groups of players of 3 to 4 people and up will be able to do a lot more though, they'll actually be able to afford and have the time to build a modest set of structures that aren't just hab pods. But, it's orgs that will be the real entity in terms of building actual settlements, they are the ones that will build true villages and towns, or at the very least have some large structures. I know a lot of people hate the idea of having limitations as a solo player, but CIG has to balance the game based around groups of players...else there would be no point to play in an org as everyone would just do things by themselves. So, ships bigger than a Cutlass will not be soloable (and actually usable with efficiency...not saying you can't pilot a ship alone, but that as a solo player you won't use medium/large ships effectively and it would be a massive money drain), and you won't be able to do things at a large scale...including base building. I think that's fine though, everyone has their own place and their own niches.
I hope they add specific unique types of basebuilding "types", each based on a specific alien civilization/entity with its own architecture and mechanics that would fit the personality and characteristics of that civilization/entity.
While that would be really cool, I'm going to say I doubt that will happen. The only thing I bet would happen would be different architectural styles and even that's kind of a stretch.
@@Hav0kHow is different architectural styles a stretch when they literally said in the past we could have different "themes" for bases? It's super easy to do for them as it's essentially just a shader slapped onto an asset...you can make one asset have many different variations. Besides, there's going to be different "tiers" of base building capabilities, so yes I do think SOLO players won't have too much variation because they'll only be able to afford basic habitation modules. But for player groups/org they'll have much more freedom to build expansive settlements
recent 'leak' from a Bar Citizen: "Initial version of Building System in 3.23. No idea what this contains, likely just groundwork/basic stuff since they're only starting development in Q1." may actually be in by years end
Happy New year to you as well! Apparently BarCitizen leaks claim T0 base building in 3.23 will also be underground? So not sure how all it will work or if it will actually make it in
Great ideas, but let me say this: SC is a sandbox game. Piracy is already unhunged right now; the amount of griefers will be limitless and the abuse will be off the scale. Like in any other sandbox game, without a working criminal system, destroying will always be cheaper and easier than creating and if you are solo you will be f*cked. In the end, there will be power blocks with thousands of players across all timezones who dominate evrything and griefers who steal rob and murder without repercussions just to finance their power fantasy of ruining weaker player's games. The game is already full of these people, it will be exponentially worse if there is more to ruin. Put up a real criminal system with real dangerous repercussions, instead of sending you to jail for scratching the landing deck first offense, but letting griefers run rampant because police are too slow. It should be equally dumb and dangerous to attack any player base as it is hard work and expensive to set it up.
Amazing video, so very well made. I have probably said that to less then 3 people in the thousands of comments I’ve written. Keep doing what your doing, attention to detail is impeccable.
I really hope that there is truth in these systems being built up faster than in the past. It makes sense if there truly is a massive amount of support dedicated to SC now that SQ42 is in polishing phase. I also hope that this system is a primary focus and doesn't stop at t0 or t1. I really hope it's something they continue to build on continuously until it's in a nearly complete state. When people can build up bases to a point that they look like small towns/cities, even if they can't necessarily function as such, it's going to make the SC world feel so much more full and lived in. Imagine doing bunkers and you fly past 2 or 3 bases after coming out of warp? Hell, I already like just picking a location and flying around sight seeing. This could add so much to that as you fly past different bases. I just hope this brings in a good variation at some point so that all bases don't look the same.
Great video and both informative & entertaining. Liked & subscribed. I've been looking forward to having my own hangars & habs since I got into Star Citizen many years ago and interested in building a base for myself, friends & org mates since CIG initially stated they want this to be a thing in the Verse.
Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for subscribing! It will be pretty awesome to have our own hangars and habs once they complete the feature. I'm definitely excited for it
The land development ORGS will be fun to run and participate in as well. From architectural design and planning, to logistics and securing resources and materials, to recruiting labor and engineers during building and the ships and tools needed. I could even see private lines of UEC credit being opened up in game by players and ORGS as a way for people to obtain the necessary credits needed to build faster than they otherwise would at a price of interest of course haha. Even security might be necessary in some places while building. Not to mention the pirates point of view in raiding bases or supplying materials gained in the pirate way to players who want materials on a discount. Paying ORGS of both good or bad for "protection" and on and on.
For me it'll just be interesting to watch orgs crumble and adapt when base building happens...I know that sounds potentially negative or a bit weird, but I think a lot of orgs try to "do it all" and market themselves as doing all gameplay careers, but I think once base building comes in (and with everything it entails, like production/crafting for example), they will start to learn that being a jack of all trades isn't going to really work that well. Orgs will need to specialize if they actually want to succeed and have engaging gameplay for their members. Side note, yes...I know huge orgs with thousands of members likely won't be as affected by the changes coming to the game. But, I think orgs with even up to 1k members and less (but especially orgs with less than several hundred players) will still struggle and realize they won't be able to "do it all" and actually have any sort of money reserves or efficiency. Really small orgs with less than 100 members definitely will need to specialize though, no more "we have 5+ career divisions for every need"...nope...you're going to have to become a full-on PMC org, or a full-on refueling org, or a full-on medical org, a full-on logistics org, etc etc... For the above, I'm not saying that org members won't be able to do other careers in their free time, or maybe when with some other members of the org, but just that most orgs won't be able to afford the resources, land, ships, and equipment to do all types of gameplay... especially since eventually everything ingame is going to get either more pricey in terms of cost or simply harder to get.
Literally the only thing I've been waiting for. This will keep me in game indefinitely. They have said recently that there will be some iteration of base building and crafting in 3.23, no idea what will be in it but it has been leaked that there will be something!
What I would like to know is when an organization makes a base how will they have people load into that server or how that would work? I would love to have a personal base but also with my org where we all could meet up at the XL size base hope they are able to solve that issue that I’m thinking of I will always support this game
This is a very important question that I think won't be answered until we see server meshing in its final form as it will ultimately be the deciding factor on how many players will be in a server.
I totally agree this will change the face of SC, nice video. I personally think they need to revisit the two sizes offered as they are massive as you pointed out. I for one would like to have mine on in a well protected area in a green zone on Microtech as an example. I think for the average player or small org half a kilometer square would be more that enough if your just after a homestead type of dwelling or small base. Even if you want to add a little mining or farming operation there would be plenty of room. At that size you would still have about 125 acres or 50 hectors of land which is huge. Those newer settlements that are now on Hurston and MT don't even take up anywhere near that much space. I would think anything from half that example, about a 1/4 kilometer squared on up would make more sense and add more of a homestead "residential" zone potential ilo of just the larger plots available. Especially in highly desirable locations, keep those predominantly for the smaller homesteader type base and offer the larger land plots further out in the wilds for the big orgs and more industrial minded players. SC needs to enact some zoning laws. As mentioned I would think adding some kind of base planetary road system in some area's and at least the ability to add your own on your land should be a basic element needed as well. There is so much potential here.
Couldn't have said it better myself! And it's possible they will add smaller land claim options in the future when the system is implemented. It would make sense to offer smaller lots for players that want to solo or really small orgs of friends. Thanks for the comment!
I really cant wait for this. I have a Galaxy and im planning to buy a Pioneer in game. With a Pioneer and a Arrastra building planetary homes and infrastructure will be amazing.
@Hav0k same. That's why I bought an Arrastra and a pair of DS. It's the biggest mining ship you can land on a planet and has its own refinery. Just fly around, mine ore, land next to your Galaxy or Pioneer and transfer the materials for building. Or just run around in the mining vehicles and mine locally. It's gonna be awesome.
this will definingly be game changing. I also wonder what the monetary gain there is to own and manage your own land besides crafting stuff and mining/growing things. it would be cool if a big org could buy out massive plots of land and rent this to new starting players and offer portection long as the players pay or contribute to the org. also it would be nice for players to be able to sell there land and be a economy of good and bad plots of land that would differ in what the have, maybe on area is high in minerals while another is high in gasses and liquids. this would add whole new depths to the system and make it feel like the players truly control the world.
For the people that are nervous about base building I think 1 it’s gonna be super expensive and not a everyone would be able to make these super bases and 2 I think this make more land base battles tanks infranty air support etc what’s your guys take
Why are there so many people thinking that basebuilding can't be in the game by the end of next year? Basebuilding survival games are a plague on Steam mostly created by a handful of indie devs who want the cash grab of the lowest effort game development cycle. All they're doing at CIG is creating a tier zero crafting system and interface to plug into the base building tools they've been using for years.
Because CIG doesnt exactly have the best track record with their estimates due to poor management. Not to mention we also have the entire "will it be well implemented" question? After all, space is limited, npcs will NEED to be added, etc, for what they want it requires consideration and other systems not yet in the game.
I'm not typically a skeptical person, but I also know CIGs track record and I also understand that they have yet to start developing base building until they return from their holiday break. There are other professions for example they showed us 12-24 months in advance that we didn't get our hands on until they were released. Bounty Hunting v2 is another profession that hasn't seen the light of day in some time. Now I know they've developed a lot of tools that took the most amount of time to get where they are, but new gameplay loops don't have any specialized tools in order to be quickly implemented like Rastar, Planetary Tech, Mission Building Tools and others. So it's a safe bet to say that they're a while out with bsse building. I honestly expect them to develop new and different assets specific to the base building gameplay rather than utilize existing asset as we've only seen two architectural styles, and if I recall correctly, there are 3 other styles. Plus, I fully believe this feature will be very dependent on server meshing being fully implemented.
The one reason I think we may see this sometime in a years time, is the option to start at lvl 0 Basebuilding. We wouldn't even need new ships for this, as small and medium would be buildable by land vehicles. CIG could even start with limited buildings and limit it to specific security level system too, if they need to throttle deliverables. I do think we can use both ships and bases to do research on toxic plants to leverage parts for drugs like in Eve or RL. I could imagine research and computer labs being used to create limited or unlimited use BPs for most things players can manufacture.
I think you need to realize the bigger picture though. As it stands right now, the game is split into many different servers that reset when they 30k, and the game is lacking full persistence. 'Persistence' as we have it now only exists for so long as the specific server stays online. The game is EXTREMELY fragile right now, to the point that even just going out to do an hour of salvaging or something is putting yourself at risk of losing it all to a 30k. And that simply won't change in the next year because they aren't even looking at fixing that sort of thing right now, they are too busy implementing more and more half baked features. They have also explicitly said they want to move away from doing 'level 0' versions of features. Imagine you spend all day transporting resources and building up a base just for the server to 30k and you lose it all. The game is nowhere near ready for this level of features, and it will be at least a couple years before they start putting this into the game.
6:50 "deconstruct buildings" would we be able to deconstruct enemy or abandoned structuresto gain their ressource investments or a fracture of those or just to get a hand of that land that is in a good spot? 7:11 Will ressources get depleted or do we gain some aslong we maintain the extractors properly? 10:40 Are these systems automated or do they all have to be maned, if so could they be manned by NPCs we hire for that purpose? Most important of all: *Will there be an offline raid protection system? * One aspect i will not tolerate anymore in my life are games that keep me up all night just to avoid to get wiped by some skill less nolifer. 12:30 our world is moving even more to automation and robots, but ingame we have to manually un/upload our ships? .... i don't even ... Why would we want to build roads, walkways inside our bases sure, but roads outside?
Good breakdown. Thanks for sharing. High security zones do not have planetary shields. The bases can, if you build them, and smaller bases most likely will not have them:
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it. Also I did want to mention that per their words at CitizenCon Todd Papy stated they were planetary shields and the base is invulnerable.
Years ago this was already the most ambitious entertainment project ever now its just mental the amount of stuff they plan on implementing. I just hope they stay true to their word and dont let the crybabies finally get them to release an unreleased project, weve already waitwd almost a decade we can wait some more lol
Thanks for starting your new channel and best of luck growing. Nice job! While I don't expect the Pioneer to be released, I do think we will be able to get a tier 0 level of base building. This may just consist of using your ship(s) as habitation and containers secure places to store our goods. With FULL teams at CIG, I think development will move MUCH faster than in the past. They have been working very hard on PES since 3.22 came out and I see this coming in a 3.22.x patch soon. 'I' think this year will be huge of SC. I'm also thinking 3.23 will give us Pyro.
Thanks for the kind words! I definitely approve of the optimism. We'll have to see how soon they implement T0 base building, but it would be cool to get it at some point.
One thing we still do not know about is how key logistical buildings will be situated between factories, refineries and landing pads. Will there be landing pad corridors complete with specialized service buildings to best optimize loading and servicing ships?
@@Hav0k I think it would going by the two maps you showed and thinking about PUBG map size. You can get lost on it so it should be plenty of room for a large org. And if we can build up and underground its perfect
Building vertically would be a very important part of base building that I've been thinking of heavily. It would be great to have taller buildings that could connect via an underground passage and underground rooms. But even if there wasn't, I think I'll still be happy with any version of base building as long as it's good.
I agree with you on this. It is important to note that they have many different teams with specific focuses and skills so developers responsible for the writing design document and concept of base building are separate from teams responsible for gameplay development.
@@Hav0k Oh im very aware of that, and now even more teams with SQ42 teams moving over with just polish remaining on that. Honestly what i really want is for trade to actually be trade and work how they outlined instead of what we have now
Wish they just start renting out apartments in the main cities . So you'll spawn in the same room every time and you can decorate with flairs and stuff. Make the "citizen" happen in star citizen
You couldn’t walk at one point in your life, then you tried, and failed and failed and failed until you learned how to balance and move on 2 legs. This is just larger and far more complex than learning to walk
Until the stations can actually target hostile players targeting people in hangars I don’t for a second think CIG are capable of designing a base point defence system that works.
I think it would be nice to have an automated cargo system. For the people that don't want to do it by hand. But as CIG have said, it will typically take longer.
I'm stoked I just wish this woulda came years ago when I had more free time. Now I'm worried I'll build a base and be busy with work for a few days come back and it's all looted and destroyed. Still stoked though since I need a home in the verse.
Surely it will be amazing to have a base.. would be better even if you can do it anywhere, or even create it inside caves or dig a cave and do it hidden.
So there was talk about underground bases as well and CIG did in fact confirm they want to also allow us to build vertically, including underground. We'll see if this will be possible in the future.
Persistent hangars and cargo elevators is what I want fully working in 2024. That will be huge quality of life improvement for all players through the Verse. A place where I can leave things for as long I want. I want to have an option to spawn ground vehicles in persistent hangar and fully prepare for my mission in one place! Base building is super far away from implementing into the game. I don't expect 2024 to be related with base building at all...this is a feature that will be slowly implemented through next few years.
Not really...someone at CIG at some point in time made a post replying to a similar comment as yours saying that if all the player accounts in the game had a full 4 x 4 km plot (or 16 km²), it wouldn't even cover half of one of the smallest moons in the current game. Yes, I know many would try to get multiple plots, BUT keep in mind they are going to be super expensive... likely more expensive than what it would cost to build what you want on them; so, spamming out land claims isn't going to really be a problem even just for that reason. Also, there likely will be cool downs or some other limitation, likely they will have a limit to how many land claims a single person could have, or even how many a single org can have. Also, you won't be able to claim land even remotely close to landing zones / cities, towns/villages, outposts, and other major NPC faction points of interest; there won't be the phenomenon of buying up all the land around a city like there was in Star Wars Galaxies lol
They could just take the some ideas as from EVE online which is what I am seeing eve online in first person. O.o I've played eve for 10 years + and this for 5 years +.. The space ride is not over yet. But I think blue prints and better tier stuff can be done just like eve.. Good balance right up ontil injectors.
I'd say they have a lot of things they could learn from Eve. Preferably not carbon-copying Eve, but definitely creating their own unique ideas based on what Eve offers for sure.
Well, high sec the bases are invulnerable. And they mentioned shields and turrets will be a primary form of defense. So that's what I'd expect will be used
Land claims went on sale in 2017 - they have never been on sale since. They were $50 / $100 for the two different sizes. I bought 5 plots then and a Pioneer.
This game will never be ready for prime time. Over paid, under developed, and full of bugs. It's all just promises and shiny carrots on the end of a long stick.
FFS, even more features coming to the game, delaying a final version even more... All nice but how about a tutorial that's working 100% of the time that doesn't involve asking chat how to solve issues? How about the first noodle stores you encounter in the game not being copy paste with just different colors? How about making something out of the 657,508,421$ so far? How about NPCs not piling up on tables after all this time? 11 years and we have basically nothing but a nice looking universe, gorgeous space ships and bare bone everything else!
I partially agree. I think we will see a very small version of base building possibly before even server meshing, but I also believe it's heavily dependent on Server Meshing.
How do you make sure that a only one base is at a given location when you build it. Someone else might build at the same spot on another server. @@Hav0k
Servers will be separated. And if they aren't separated the game will prevent you from buying land already owned via utilizing the global server as a base.
I dont think designed a system on the current infrastructure makes any sense. There is no practical reason behind this. Phantom blocking plots because someone claimed the land on some of the other servers.
Yeah I probably didn't explain that very clearly. I doubt this will be the case. But I bet there will be a global database. If servers remain separate as they do now, there will be no issue. When server meshing is involved all the data will be connected to the global servers. Several servers being part of the same shard will more than likely have restrictions on plots because you'll all be able to see everything within that shard. But another separate shard would not have the same restrictions.
Wonder how are they going to do this? Would the base load into a server if the land is free like fallout 76 or will a org always own that plot of land ? Like nothing may be there but you cannot build on it 😊
I too am left with so many questions on how this will work or be handled. I think that some of the answers lie heavily on how server meshing will work and how many players will be allowed on a shard. One day we may actually have the answers, but we're still a little ways away from the answers.
i bought my game package in 2012, i was 42 years old... chris roberts said this game would be finished by 2015 lol..... its now 2024. I turn 54 in febuary. What a joke this has become. Right now im just hoping they finish before i die. But i honestly dont think they will.
Did cig release some information on that . I'm just curious because do we even have a base building vehicle in game or will that release with 3.23 too I have a galaxy and this would mean it's one more step closer to being released
Lol, they can say that, but we do know CIGs track record. I like the idea of waiting to see. Also, the information is all still relevant, so it doesn't negate the video. But I'm all for them doing it
Well I hope the base building will populate currently empty planets with some content. I always wanted some large urban area for PvP in SC, but there is none. PvP boils down to shooting people who can't land a single bullet on you... So fkn lame.
just copy eve and im happpy lol , as we all now CR loves eve .. so yeh expect BPs to be very similar. as for base buildinit just make it lke the old star wars galaxy. xD
"what is the point of playing, base building or not, if the entire economy still gets wiped."
No way on gods green earth I will want to play and build up a home and things sinking all that time into it just to see it go the way of the dodo every time they need to fix and reset the econ due to exploits and bugs.
Who else is ready for this to not work properly?
Someone dreams about a base and I stuck in the elevator. This is ridiculous. And they want fourthy dollars for it. It's a rip off.
Give it another 10 years I'll be dead but somebody will enjoy it
We should be used to games that don't work and aren't complete. That's what all these aaa studios be pushing
I’m hoping for player settlements … an org buys a plot of land and gives permission to org members to build within an area.
They would contribute to common infrastructure, like defensive turrets, power, communication systems and landing facilities, as well as paying for NPCs to ward off attacks when no players are logged in.
Individuals could have specific modules, like refineries or trade facilities and would share other resources and responsibilities.
sell your org's outpost location to farm guard NPCs for loot :)
That would make investing in your NPC's gear (and stockpiles), your base layout, constructing watchtowers with snipers, etc., all super impactful to the overall defense of your base.
with how obsessed cig is with immersion, this is not farfetched
thats a fantastic concept but could make the game very soul sucking if you cannot put in that kinda time.
I would love to see space based bases too.
I'm sure at some point we will see more information on space stations once base building is part of the larger discussion later next year.
@Hav0k you're joking right? You seriously think you'll ever be able to build/own space stations in this game? Dude half the features in the game still break constantly...
They did mention it briefly at CC as a potential future addition.
They have talked in the past about asteroid bases at the very least. But our own personal stations would also be pretty cool.
Agreed. It's been a long time coming and we still have a bit longer to go, but it's beginning to take shape a lot quicker than previous years.
Years and years in and chillz still chilling this game damn...
Everyone needs to realize the sheer scope of base building in a game, and the things it requires to be in place before it can be implemented. I see a lot of comments saying how 'I hope they work on this soon!' and 'I hope development on this gets prioritized!'
You all have to realize, there are many, many base underlying systems that need to be in place, which are currently nowhere near being implemented, that have to be put into the game before base building can even function.
I think it's gonna be super awesome. And if they do it right, It could bring a lot of people to the game from other base building style games.
I realy hope that they can priorise this system as most as possible
I agree. As with many other features, this one is going to be pretty important.
They need to prioritize all manner of crafting for logistics sake. Without that, land claiming is pointless.
I agree with you.

No idea what this contains, likely just groundwork/basic stuff since they're only starting development in Q1."
may actually be in by years end
Nice! But obviously they can say that, but we'll see if it actually happens
I would like to see underground or Asteroid mining bases, as the rock will somewhat hide power signatures. Thanks for the video. Happy New Year 2024!
Happy New year to you as well! Apparently BarCitizen leaks claim T0 base building in 3.23 will also be underground? So not sure how all it will work or if it will actually make it in
Great ideas, but let me say this:
SC is a sandbox game.
Love it, crafting reminds me of SWG.
Amazing video, so very well made. I have probably said that to less then 3 people in the thousands of comments I’ve written. Keep doing what your doing, attention to detail is impeccable.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Base building is coming 1st quarter btw. Obviously it'll be first implementation though.
Yeah I heard they were claiming this.
I hope so, but we'll see if it makes it into 3.23.
I'm definitely excited for it
best base building details seen so far. nice job
Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad I could provide a solid video to you and the rest of the community!
I like to say a lot of things are gonna happen too 😅 we'll see if it actually happens, but I really do hope it does.
lol It was apparently a leak at the most recent BarCitizen

Gotcha gotcha. Well we will see! Fingers crossed for sure!
This is why bases come after server meshing. Big reason a lot of features need that.
Thanks for the comment!
that 2040 release gonna hit like crack
I really cant wait for this. I have a Galaxy and im planning to buy a Pioneer in game. With a Pioneer and a Arrastra building planetary homes and infrastructure will be amazing.
Kinda drooling over the idea of using a Galaxy and Pioneer for base building 😂
@Hav0k same. That's why I bought an Arrastra and a pair of DS. It's the biggest mining ship you can land on a planet and has its own refinery. Just fly around, mine ore, land next to your Galaxy or Pioneer and transfer the materials for building. Or just run around in the mining vehicles and mine locally. It's gonna be awesome.
Agreed. The Arrastra will definitely be a ship I buy one day!
this will definingly be game changing.
For the people that are nervous about base building I think 1 it’s gonna be super expensive and not a everyone would be able to make these super bases and 2 I think this make more land base battles tanks infranty air support etc what’s your guys take
Excellent video! I know what I'm binge watching now 😜
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Why are there so many people thinking that basebuilding can't be in the game by the end of next year?
Thanks for breaking this all down, haven't yet watched the citcon video on this. Going to be a great addition to the game
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can't wait for this feature to come out in 30 years, it'll be incredible
Coming in 2024, actually.

One aspect i will not tolerate anymore in my life are games that keep me up all night just to avoid to get wiped by some skill less nolifer.
12:30 our world is moving even more to automation and robots, but ingame we have to manually un/upload our ships? .... i don't even ...
Why would we want to build roads, walkways inside our bases sure, but roads outside?
Great video! I can’t wait to have my own base.
Thanks! Same here!
Wonderful explained.
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful and that you enjoyed it!
Good breakdown. Thanks for sharing.
High security zones do not have planetary shields. The bases can, if you build them, and smaller bases most likely will not have them:
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it. Also I did want to mention that per their words at CitizenCon Todd Papy stated they were planetary shields and the base is invulnerable.
this will be a real game. for unemployed and social assistance receptions where the normal citizen will have no chance. keep it up
Years ago this was already the most ambitious entertainment project ever now its just mental the amount of stuff they plan on implementing. I just hope they stay true to their word and dont let the crybabies finally get them to release an unreleased project, weve already waitwd almost a decade we can wait some more lol
You and me both. I'm really hoping that the decade of waiting pays off soon!
A good question. I'm willing to bet they will be connected so that's not an issue
Good Video
8km by 8km sounds like the perfect size for a large org like ours. It will be really cool if we can all build in the same spot
Honestly that would be super cool. Even if I'd bet one estate lot would be big enough for a while lol 😆
With all these different power generator things, producers, etc. it reminds me of factorio
Never played. But I hear it's pretty cool!
I would love it if they just get some of the features that they have ingame fully finished or at least more finished then they currently are
I agree with you on this.
Honestly what i really want is for trade to actually be trade and work how they outlined instead of what we have now
A global working and dynamic economy would be great. I agree.
Wish they just start renting out apartments in the main cities . So you'll spawn in the same room every time and you can decorate with flairs and stuff. Make the "citizen" happen in star citizen
This would be pretty cool tbh
You couldn’t walk at one point in your life, then you tried, and failed and failed and failed until you learned how to balance and move on 2 legs. This is just larger and far more complex than learning to walk
i hope there's an option for bases to have size 10 shields or going offline to come back to everything borked and smoking is going to suck.
Great video, subbed
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the sub!
Until the stations can actually target hostile players targeting people in hangars I don’t for a second think CIG are capable of designing a base point defence system that works.
How many times have you got blown up in a hanger? Not a pad but hanger
We have robots loading and unloading ships today, in 800 years they will be doing it by hand with a little tractor beam ray
I think it would be nice to have an automated cargo system. For the people that don't want to do it by hand. But as CIG have said, it will typically take longer.
@@Hav0k they have a really good approach to gamification of systems
I'm stoked I just wish this woulda came years ago when I had more free time. Now I'm worried I'll build a base and be busy with work for a few days come back and it's all looted and destroyed. Still stoked though since I need a home in the verse.
Lol you and me both! It will be nice to get our hands on it one day. But don't go it alone. Join an org that will help defend it!
Nice video 🔥 buen video 🔥
Thank! Glad you enjoyed it 😄
All this would make sense if persistence was actually persistent.
Great overview!

gotta have a good imagination to stick with this game lol, great video, cant wait for the day its in game.
Glad you liked the video. At some point this game will be released and yes sometimes it's tough to follow the project.
well well, good thing I invested on BMM no need for bases :P
I can’t wait to build my base
Very detailed and good bidon
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
The amount of funding this game has received it should already be complete.
I can't wait for this!
Same. It will be a pretty incredible feature to have added in the game.
I think some people have a different idea of what "about to be come" means then me.
Be cool if your base had alarms for nearby ships
I bet at some point it will. Something like an alert beacon and/or ping
I was hoping they could just give me a mining tool when throwing me in mining prison.
I agree with you. Those features are definitely needed. Granted there are a lot of features they need.
that game in web3 would be insane but sadly im not putting many hours in a game that doesnt reward me back have fun on web2
Well as web3 is only a concept and non-existent currently... i guess you'll be waiting for sometime for the web to enter a new generation.
So what happens when you're logged off? Id hate to log in to only see my base blown to bits
One of the many questions I have as well. I'm curious to see how CIG will handle this.
Leaks channel says it's coming in 3.23, but I doubt it.
I can’t wait for Base Building but I feel like the fight for realestate will be a pain 🫠
I've played eve for 10 years + and this for 5 years +..
Base building will be good.
I wonder what kind of protection that can keep out an org from attacking someone they don't like
Well, high sec the bases are invulnerable. And they mentioned shields and turrets will be a primary form of defense. So that's what I'd expect will be used
Hope they put the land claims on the 4 sale block along with all the ships they sell -
Land claims went on sale in 2017 - they have never been on sale since. They were $50 / $100 for the two different sizes. I bought 5 plots then and a Pioneer.
yea i mean look how revolutionary base building in Starfield was
🤣🤣 it would have been if Starfield was an MMO. Then it would have been great. But base building in starfield was the least of the games issues
This game will never be ready for prime time. Over paid, under developed, and full of bugs. It's all just promises and shiny carrots on the end of a long stick.
Plenty of rushed out junk to tide us over.
I bet those base will be raid by players vs players. So it better to keep it stealth if you can find the base or tracking them.
I will be no-lifing this game when base-building and production are implemented.
Base of the Sun ah what a dream
🤪
Yyyeeeeeaahhhhhhhhhhhssss
Wont be here before meshing. We need the Universe before that feature gets implemented - Not the multiverse we life in right now.
I love hearing what they are planning in this scam of a game. I’ll wait another 7 years to see if they implant any of this
Wonder how are they going to do this?
You got overruled.
It's gonna be the biggest feature of SC, but I will take at least 5 years befor it's gonna be a fact.
the game will never truly be "playable" without server meshing
