Yess! I have one as well,I spent the day cleaning it,it belonged to my grandfather,it’s a 1929,he didn’t work the rails,he was a steel mill man,but he took it as a souvenir back in the 1950s. I cleaned it up today,I will purchase the kerosene, and light it up,after all these years,in his honor. Joseph Montalto. My grandfather.
Im real pleased to have them. I like the color globes too. They really ad a nice ambiance. Also makes a nice addition the post war Lionel stuff I collect 🚂😁
Very nice! My buddy who has a great shop has started collecting lanterns. He does not admit that he is a collector, but he is. He now has a beautiful assortment of old lanterns on display in his shop. I have a nice assortment of junk, but someday I hope to have them fixed up nice. Good to see you back on the Tube! 👍😀😎
Thank you, Im hit and miss on posts. Still pretty busy. I think if you have three of something your officially a collector, lol 😂 I dont make the rules I just follow them 🤣😂
Thanks, its something to do with either the color in the glass or the process when it was made. The older color globes when exposed to heat it does whats called a crizzling. Seems like it starts delaminating or something. I dont light old color globes often. I ruined one a while back that way. If I do light one its a very low flame and briefly lit.
A few years back I started collecting the Colemans. My six or seven old lanterns are still around. The Colemans are fun, but they just don't have that coolness to them. Great find with the red globe!
Thank you Im really pleased to have it. I agree the Colemans are fun but they just dont do it for me either. I have one in my collection. They are bright tho.
Thanks, Im really pleased to have them. That was awesome someone thought about me when they came across them. The guy I got them from said they came from his uncle who used to work for the railroad I think NY, hes in his 90's now. Pretty dang cool!
I just discovered your channel and subscribed. Looks like we are interested in a lot of the same stuff. Those are very cool lanterns! Best regards, Bill.
Awsesome, thank you! I subbed your channel back. I love the lanterns and so glad my friend thought about me when he saw them. They are a nice addition to my other lanterns.
I oicked up a fed one last year. added to the clear one I had. both are perfectly functional although the red one needs some tweaking. the wicks were hard to locate. but I did find some . great video. thanks
Thanks, they tend to be all bent up I guess inherent with the shape and all the wire. On my first one I went through great effort to straighten the handle out to a nice consistent hoop. Only to find out it is supposed to have a detent bent into it, lol.

@@Dancing_Alone_wRentals thank you happy new year!
Cool video. I never imagined a wick would take so long to soak. tHanks for the video
This was a very old dry wick. A newer one may have soaked up sooner.
Those are so cool 💡 👍 😊
