its a tricky old arcade game, make sure you are always in highest gear and take the inside lane on the corners, just release the accelerate rather than braking unless you are about to crash, should be able to take most corners at relatively high speed, the high score on this is difficult though, keep at it and you will get it for sure, same with every trophy in these games, perseverance goes a long way, thanks for the comment!

yeah low to hi and then hi for the rest of it hopefully helps but ease of the acceleration into corners sometimes completely depending on the angle, hopefully you get some luck with it too, sometimes the obstacles make it borderline impossible not to crash or off road which takes time, but yeah on the corners just release the accelerate, very rarely need to break in outrun! thanks for the comment!

For anyone struggling. This whole mini game is rng. Sometimes you get traffic that cuts you off alot or occupies all the lanes with no room to go around.
@@clawsonalabaster I wouldn't say it was complete rng as you still need to moderate your speed on corners and avoid traffic in general but yes there will be runs where it is just flat out doom traffic, hopefully you got through though, it used to be fun in the arcades but games have changed a lot nowadays

@@ragnarhenchbrok Thankfully I did! I also got a bunch of the other really annoying stuff done like bowling which took me about an hour, baseball which took me two hours, and the dreaded mahjong full straight, which took me about 4 hours.

aha keep on trying you will get it beat with some perseverance, make sure you are in high gear through out and never brake, or rarely brake, just release the acceleration slightly on sharper corners and try to take them on the inside of the corner, it is tricky though 5 mill is a high score for this, best of luck with it and the rest of the plat!

I have never heard of that happening at all, are you on console or steam or? Only thing I can think of is go off and play another minigame and then go back maybe that will reset it in some way to allow you to progress, hope it works for you
@@ragnarhenchbrok i fixed it some hours ago,it happened because my PC username had a special letter (letter with an accent on top of it) so i just needed to create a different PC profile for mission to work

Personally I'd go dpad as it's less sensitive to movement but it would depend on the player I guess, aim to never brake on corners just let go of the acceleration a bit, hopefully you will cruise through it but it is not an easy minigame if you never played it in the arcade as a kid, best of luck with the plat and thanks for the comment!

if you havent played it when you were younger like I did it takes some getting used to, had to get good in the arcade or you lose all your coins aha, but yeah it is a difficult minigame as are most in the series, well done for getting through it! always save before the 10% thing but yeah now you have mastered it on this one you can do it on the other games and it wont be as bad! best of luck with the plat!
Outrun is a hard arcade game back in the day, it's just one of those ones where you keep trying until you get it, 5 mill is not an easy score to get, so well done for getting through it
