Have you asked Audi about this Engine/gearbox issue and if they believe it is a program glitch. I ask because I want to remap my coming 50TDI A7 Black Edition. Its a simple ECU remap that allows the V6TDI to really shine 350hp and 720Nm. I also want to get the gearbox bit sorted at the same time. There are a number of tuning houses that can sort this delay out in software, question is why don't Audi?

We haven't, but then we doubt they would admit it's an issue. Happy to be proved wrong!

Almost every review of the latest A7 I’ve seen mentions the sluggish Tiptronic gearbox on the 3L V6 Diesel, but none of them have driven the 2L diesel with the 7 speed S-Tronic. Given most UK buyers will likely opt for the 40TDI, why are all the reviews of the larger diesel? Anyone have any experience of the S-Tronic in the A7, please?

Our full review (see below) suggests the S Tronic gearbox is better, but come Monday we’ll try and get a more in-depth answer for you, Neal.

Spoke to one of the journalists who went on the launch of the A6 today. He reckoned the S Tronic gearbox in the 40 TDI and 45 TFSI is smooth and well-judged - certainly better than the Tiptronic in the more powerful diesels.
      Hope that helps!

Great review James. Nice looking car but touch screens should be banned. It is just the same as using a smart phone behind the wheel - you have to look at it to use it. Safety has gone out the window. A retrograde step.

Thanks Andrew! Interesting point about the touchscreens, they can be very distracting if not used sensibly.

As with analogue, Once the initial set up is done, the controls are mostly never used on the go. Additionally you have the functionality of the steering wheel control buttons, also voice activation works really well for everyday changes such as on or off, Nav and radio etc. The head up display is really handy too. I am changing to A7 this spring, having experienced the A6 with a similar system. I found it becomes second nature after a short while and Android auto works like a dream, something it doesn't do in BMW's. I also 100% agree the haptic feedback is better turned off as the touch screens are very fast and responsive without it. If we take the safety argument to its conclusion it would be unsafe to have a human being in the driver seat under any circumstances, much of this criticism is hysterical, partisan nonsense, based on my experience of driving with such a system.
