It's got slick styling and more processing power than a cryptocurrency mining rig, so I wanted to find out how that tech is put to use and how it makes it feel out on the road. Like a club you mean, do you know you can get that done in a Kia cerato after market? I have seen so many companies that sell these light effects and installed in several cars. There's nothing futuristic about it, it's nice but available for cheap aftermarket.

I saw these two cars driving on marine drive from cape town to blouberg. They stood out straight away, they look so much better in person, especially the blue one.

J Mura What do you mean? The 2018 6 Series is a direct competitor against the 2018 A7 and 2019 CLS.
Titanium_BMW He probably means that the current 6-series went into production in 2011, and it may be a bit outdated compared to the others, hence wait for the 8-series.
Titanium_BMW the "2018" 6 Series doesn't even exist. It went out of production. We'll have to wait for the 8 Series.
I don't understand why manufacturers nowadays insist on replacing physical buttons with stupid touch screens!
Really like all the Car WOW reviews and watch them religiously. Only comment I would like to make is that often the highest end models are being tested whereby the most bought versions of the vehicle are of a lesser spec. Other than that keep up the good work guys!

WOW this A7 is so cool. would buy the car just for those lights. Also like the pillar less doors and interior. but most of all the fact he came to Cape Town to test it. I also like the fact there is a double touch system and not a afterthought stuck on tablet and no silly dials which Matt seams to favor.

I like the review, but I don't like the touch screen controls instead of the previous clicky wheels. I do not like the shiny black plastics on the dash that will look horrible after a few months

Is it me or does the rear lights look horrible on it! Almost as a Chiron! It's like Audi took every feature from Mercedes and BMW for example 7 series keys copied Mercedes features copied!
They don't have the regular LS 500 in the UK so it won't be a great comparison, but in terms of exterior, interior design and luxury the LS beats the Germans flat.

Those touchscreens and voice commands is the biggest bullshit I have ever seen. I'm glad my car still has knobs aside from the screen, because I can not think about it and still do it in 1 second.
Weird thing is that when Tesla puts touchscreen-only controls in the Model 3, people absolutely love it and say it is the way to go and they fight everybody who tells them that physical controls are much safer because you can use them without taking your eyes off the road. But when others do it (like Audi in this car and the new A8), suddenly the exact same criticism which somehow was not valid for the Tesla comes up and they say these touchscreen climate controls are stupid. E.g. many youtube car reviews go "absolutely lovely touchscreen, everything easy to use" about the Tesla and then "these controls suck, the old buttons/control wheel method was much better" about the A8, even though it is *the exact same thing* (except that the climate control "buttons" on the A8 are much larger and easier to hit than on the Tesla).
same I hate the touch screen for climate controls fade that is going on now.
I'm okay for having touch screen (even though I prefer rotary dials) and lots of tech, but I think I should be able to fucking change the temperature without looking down
It is funny how using your phone in the car is such a big no-no but manufacturers get away with these double screens. Both Range Rover and Audi have started doing this and it is really annoying. Who the hell told them that this is what consumers want. I‘d love to see how the 60-70 year olds who actually buy these cars get used to this stupid idea. Virtual cockpit is amazing. High definition navi screen with many menus and sub menus looks amazing but difficult to use. Screen for climate control and car basic car functions is absolutely ridiculous. Who knows how much money they are saving by removing all these buttons. Clearer design my ass, i‘m sure it is all about the money!

Lol my father has a new a8 and I just found out yesterday there was a touch screen in the front. It felt there were buttons under it. It makes sound and vibrates. It's perfect. People who don't like it, either don't own a high tech car,or are just idiots.
Car is amazing. Attention to details is just taken to another level. That said, although this car got most of the premium options,the seats look really,really plane and basic,which is not understandable to me. Audi makes awesome seats with shoulders supports and beautiful headrests..these look more like from basic Audi A1..

Not sure I like the fake bits - ditto the civic type R and others, and also augmented exhaust sound. Why bother making the rear ‘appear’ like it has sporty exhausts?. As a car anorak, I avoid these cars personally, but that’s just my own OCD; this car will sell by the thousand.

Good balanced review Matt. I share the concern about touch screen technology in cars ... just doesn't work. Friends have bought the new Volvo x90 and the touch screen is driving them mad. New A7 is a nice car but again, Audi's new designs are not that great. Interior will date very quickly and the interior lights .... well ... that's just embarrassing :( I'd personally go for the 6 Series Grand Coupe ... it's just a better designed interior.
I agree. I'd take a BMW product over a VW product without hesitation. Once out of warranty VW stuff can get pricey to run.

Gotta be honest, on video that car looks worse in every way to its predecessor. Also given the immense price i feel those issues are inexcusable, followed by the fact that it has small rear seat for tall passengers and a high load lip. I'm not sold.

The sidewall on those tires is too small for a truly comfortable ride. I don't really get this car. Its not the most comfortable, its not that practical, its not super fast and nimble. Its somewhere in between in all those areas. But for that pricing it has to excel in some areas. I am not interested in all those LEDs inside and outside the car, I am not interested also in those tablets on the dashboard. I like simple cars.
