  • Both chairs are extremely comfortable.
    Either of these will do you very well but which is best for someone wanting a comfortable seat for years to come?

    Thanks for the upload! A comparison from a regular person is wonderfully valuable. As most reviews are done by used chair resellers, or reviewers who have affiliates with such resellers.

    I have had an aeron and mirra. Steelcase still wins because it has a lot more options to adjust. I was blown away the amount of additional options that the Herman was lacking.

    Nice review. just to leave a note here. I got the Classic in my office and the remastered at home and the difference is huge. The classic is a version from 1994 and the remastered in 2017 and there are a lot of improvements. it is much better!

      I'm glad you are enjoying it! I've sat in the remastered once and it felt very comfortable. After 2005 they made a couple of changes to the classic so that may be a better model. But overall for people I would recommend a used aeron since it is often much cheaper.

    Good news everyone, Steelcase is releasing their version of the Aeron called Karman. All Steelcase goodness in a Herman Miller mesh design and looking stylish to boot.

      Interesting looking chair. They definitely seem to be targeting as competition something like the Aeron or Cosm since it has a very simple design with seemingly only one knob for adjustability. If I get a chance to try one I certainly will :)

    totally agree on the Aeron sizing. I’m not a big guy, 5’7 and found the size B was too short in the backrest, a size C is just about perfect. almost feels like a high back.

    This is by far the best comparison video of these 2 chairs side by side on TH-cam because it is very practical as opposed to things I can research of the website of the companies. You mentioned in the video you were gonna start using the V2 as your daily driver instead of aeron, have you switched over? If so how do like the experience of sitting in one for a few hours a day (WFH) compared to an aeron…also, in my job I have to both read/write on papers as well as use a computer so I wonder if the forward seat tilt on the aeron should be the deciding factor or it’s something you don’t notice you miss as much on the V2 since as you mentioned the seat design puts you more upright to begin with. Lastly, I know the tilt mechanism of the remastered has been upgraded, but in general would you say both chairs offer comfortable tilt to slightly change the posture in the chair throughout the day to prevent you from slouching over time? Thanks in advance:)

    • @modernexploration5282
      @modernexploration5282  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I appreciate the feedback :) Actually I have since sold the V2 and stuck with the aeron. For me I find the Aeron over long hours to be more comfortable. Standarly, yes, the seat on the V2 is more upright but it just doesn't beat the forward tilt functionality. I think for now I would always recommend chairs that come with forward tilt. I reviewed some other chairs on this channe actually that have that functionality and they really are nice : Okamura Contessa and Haworth Zody. Both chairs are comfortable ad very nice however over time I have come to dislike the tilting mechanism on the V2 more. The way the seat shifts also in it is not to my liking and generally I like it upright since I work at my computer most of the time.
      I will be putting up a separate video just on the Aeron soon so consider subscribing if you don't want to miss it :)

    • @SamerMatti
      @SamerMatti 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@modernexploration5282 thanks for the prompt reply and I will definitely subscribe:) I was not aware the contessa had forward seat tilt. I live in Canada and I think they are sold under the name teknion contessa. There is a local distributor in my city. I unfortunately don't have a herman miller dealer nearby to try out the aeron. I'm close to your height and weight actually do if I was to blindly order one I'd order the size C, whereas the contessa is nice bec of the shifting seat. I'm not sure how the mesh compares to aeron when sitting for long hours. Maybe another video idea is to do a comparison of those 2 chairs (contessa vs aeron) side by side ☺

    • @modernexploration5282
      @modernexploration5282  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SamerMatti Sure I can do a comparison video side by side. The contessa mesh feels more firm, it isn't quite as comfortable for longer periods. However the armrests are much better, recline stop is superior since it can lock at basically any angle and stay there + it has a seat depth adjustment which is really handy. I think Aeron size C would be a good bet for you but I probably wouldn't buy one new unless I had tried it before, although I think Herman Miller still have a return policy

    Ive considered Steelcase but the leap looks like an 80 dollar chair. The arm rests have a lot of play the chair wobbles in the base because the gas cylinder is so skinny theres high force on the mounting components. Does not make the impression like it could last 20 years like some Aerons and be basically good as new.

    i bought a second hand Mirra 1, returned it and bought a Mirra 2 (new) but wasn't happy with the finishing (too many blemishes), returned it and now bought the Aeron from the London Showroom. i thought i fitted well on the size C but ended up buying the size B as the back of my knee was too close to the seat pan on the C.
    Honestly, i much preferred the C as it is wider and taller on the back. Not sure if Herman Miller would swap the B for a C. After trying these chairs, i wish i kept the Mirra 1 which was way more comfortable and better build quality and i would have saved £600. Oh well.

    You nailed so many things in this review. I totally agree the b size is too small in the back for me at 5'10" 160 lb. It hits me right in the shoulder blades and is really irritating. Also the armrest design is really poor and if I were to size up to C, the warm rests are far too wide for my shoulders. Also the comparison to Apple was spot on. Overpriced for elitist maybe? Needless to say I went with the leap which I found to be perfect so far.
