Those are really hard to find for sale and in the aquarium hobby in general. They are non endemic to lake malawi. They also happen in lake malombe and other rivers and lakes in Africa... Massive, massive fish.
US is the only country left in the world (I think) to still use inches, etc... May I kindly suggest if you could indicate sizes in cm as well please? Thanks, keep up with the good job!
Brilliant video exactly what I needed. Can you help me with the spelling of the 3rd from last fish lol... faserachromis rostratus? I’m sure that’s not right lol many thanks
Hi Paul, I really enjoyed this video. I had a Buccochromis Yellow at one time that was stunning around 8” and it mysteriously disappeared after I hired hired a professional aquarium service to move my big tank to a new residence last summer. Otherwise, I have all the fish in the video with the exception of the Spilo and Lepturus Green. I thought all the fish in the video had great color, and you did a great job narrating it. Thanks for sharing
With ALL due respect...learn some Latin. "rho-DEE-zee -eye" Etc. Doubt me? Ask Ad Konings. Right on a some. Not so much on others. Another "ask", Steve Lundblad, ower of The Cichlid Exchange in Portland Oregon. 30+ years in biz. Great friends with Ad and where "I" was Sales Mgr. You BET I learned even at now 60 yrs in the hobby. We always keep learning!Best always in your fish keeping. 😎
Hey buddy :) You forgot about the biggest one of them all. The one king who dwarfs even all of these guys with its mass. I’m of course talking about the Serannochromis robustus. Name says it all🤣
It is a Lepturus Green. The lighting in that tank is terrible. In my next video, I will have a clip of him in it, much better lighting. Keep an eye out for it
The biggest would be an emperor cichlid that grows 3 feet. Very few people have them in aquariums . There very aggressive eaters and the size is just to much for most hobbiest . Cool video Paul.
Some really nice looking shots of them!
Oh Yeah
wow beautiful my friend

Thanks a lot Dennis! I appreciate it. That is crazy about your Rhoadesii, they stole it?
How many kg does the biggest one weigh? I've seen the heaviest 9 kg, but it's not a beautiful fish. But there was a contest
Which Cichlid you’re talking about weighs 9 kg
Thanks for the spot Paul! Vid was great. I'm kinda sick to my stomach that your bucco is no longer around.
Yessir! Thanks For the clips. You and me both on the Bucco Noto, it sucks
Nice video king... only the title should be "Biggest African Cichlid Fish"... African Cichlid in the World is wrong :-)
thanks for watching
Hello, do you have an email address as i have a professional question about the cichlids and their farming? Thanks
What is your question?
Still love this one in 2019!

Is malawi cochlid ok to live in a pond?
Yes, as long as the temperature and water parameters are good
Where is your Emperor cichlid?
They are in Lake Tanganyika and this video was about Malawi
And we will tell you what number one is if you have a tank over 1,500 gallons................. Emperor Cichlid baby.....one day I WILL Have one!
Yeah! Need the tank for it. But my vid is about Malawi cichlids
How bout the common names? You tube caption is horrible.
I would love to see the list written out!

I wish these fish had common names.... or do they? they'd be easier to find if I could spell their name haha
Hey Mason. Some of them do and some don’t.
All about filtration guys, any fish can and will reach Max size with the proper filtration
That is true! Perfect water can do a lot
