Love the discussion about the Chorus album - absolutely Brilliant writing and production. It was Erasure's "Violator" in my opinion.

To me, it’s by far their best sounding album. I’ve discussed this very subject with a friend about “what is the best sounding synth record?” and Chorus is a strong candidate.

@@704commentkan riiight: I had Violator in quotes for a reason. My comment meant: Chorus was to Erasure's discography, what Violator was to Depeche Mode's discography.
Thanks! I love Chorus. Erasure's acoustic album is amazing too. Goldfrapp, Elton, Danny Wilson, Peter Gabriel's So, WOW! To name only a few.
Okay, basically what needs to happen is Vaughn needs to sit with Dave and do a 30+ minute video discussion on each album/record that Dave has ever worked on in his career. A series like that would be mental! And it would be an amazing documentaion for future generations. Alright, one can dream... carry on.
I was impressed with Dave Bascombe, and then he just casually drops in that he mixed Chorus by Erasure.. I mean WOW!!! Brill interview btw. Bravo!
this man was the hand that touched and created the magic and greatness of two of the most amazing and succesfull albums in the synth-pop music world....CHORUS by ERASURE and MFTM by DM....used to read the credits in the booklets and I just wanted to know who was this man....THANK YOU MR. BASCOMBE...Thank you Vaughn fot the interview !

This was a fantastic installment of the series, Vaughn! Like you, I was surprised (pleasantly so) to learn that he was involved in Erasure's Chorus album. It's always been one of my favorites and one of their best, I feel.

He did just one album with DM.....but Damn was that One album.
I saw parts 2 and 3 last night Vaughn, very interesting to hear how what you also do is done by someone so talented as Mr Bascombe, particularly the use of the different types of software /hardware used back in the day and how things are now and that just cos you have the most up to date tech sometimes doesn't mean it's necessarily better. Sometimes old technology delivers a certain quality you can't recreate with modern tech...
Only just picked up on your interview with Mr Fernandes too, only about 25 mins in on that one so far but fantastic interviews Vaughn, enjoying it very much, just goes to show how much creativity and painstaking, time consuming work can go into production/mixing. Keep up the great work mate. Also looking forward to your other interview on Piano/keyboard artist where Dave will elaborate more on MFTM. Hes an absolute gentleman.

hi, Vaughn. thanks again. in my younger days, i mix 2 songs / 2 vinyls with 1 or 2 seconds delay with the riff's and drums. And i only play it live a party or wedding. later on, i put it on a 90 minute tapes or my own used. i miss that days. if i do a party or wedding, i using my amp plugins. like flanger, isolator, sound flash or phaser - still using 2 songs (mp3's) - and that don't give me the results of enjoy like in the '90's. my big mantor was ben leibrand, alex jay and later barney simon.

Great interview. Did you get any samples from him? I’m sure Tears for Fears used some of Dave’s Emulator samples. Some may have crossed over into DM songs!
could you do a video on Anything Box? they’re an underrated synth pop band that would make for a great video.

Beyond the geek talk overview of Dave’s career and mixing ethos, did you ask him any more questions on the making of MFTM album? Will that be in another video, or is this the end? I know Dave’s experience/opinions with DM and the MFTM lp was sort of scattered throughout the 3 video series.
