And for Rihanna, it is indeed copyright : Rihanna signed with Dance Central (Just Dance main opponent at the time) an exclusivity contract that led DC to have Rihanna's catalogue for themselves, Just Dance couldn't have a single song. The contract was going to expire since Dance Central didn't have new games but out of nowhere Dance Central VR was announced and released on Oculus Rift, and so the exclusivity still runs.
I hope that contract expires soon because we need Rihanna back on JD

A little correction,Daddy is a French company producing sugar and I do believe that the whole point of the ad was to enjoy the popularity of Just Dance with the song Daddy cool, which they use on almost every ad they do.

While i have to agree that Rasputin has that one hard part its worth noting that curently there are a lot of diffrent very hard moves in diffrent songs so it wouldnt make sense to mention a specific song when we talk about hard moves.

Something you could add to the part 2 of this video is the "fan-made" Just Dance levels/songs made on TH-cam. People usually do it with kpop tracks, because they use a dance practice of the song and reskin the dancer to make it look like a coach

As of right now there are three Hatsune miku songs that are available globally,however all of them say "[Song] by Hatsune miku" when it's the same as saying your song was made by drums, however the Japanese versions of those songs instead say the actual creator's name with FT Hatsune miku

Right since i was in middle school
The black eyed peas experience (Wii version) was in interesting spin off to Just Dance, (while X Box version seemed to be more faithful to Dance Central). It obvs consisted of Black Eyed Peas songs, some have appeared in the main series and after watching this video, I learned that one more almost did but didn’t quite make it. The maps used in that game are completely different to what came to the main series. The coaches in the spin off are dressed up like member of the group and try to reference the music video (if there was one), whereas in JD, they are completely original.
Another thing, they almost made portable version for the game for 3DS, iOS and other portable systems at the time, more of a traditional button/tap based rhythm game similar to the portable version of The Michael Jackson experience. The game was next to complete and the group just needed to sign something off, but never responded, (possibly due to the reception of the Wii/360 versions) so they actually got sued by the developers for wasting their time and resources. There’s no footage of these versions anywhere, just one article which I don’t even know if it’s online anymore.
To be frank, with how Michael Jackson's reputation fell after his death (especially after **that** documentary) I don't think Ubisoft is eager to licence his songs to be put in Just Dance Unlimited. Also, it would involve negociating with Yoni Jayl (who is the main dancer) but it would be hard since he left Just Dance team around 2018...
Yoni is only the dancer. Ubisoft doesn't need his permission to put the Michael jackson songs in just dance + or unlimited. They just need the music licences. Aland also yoni has been in lots of other just dance maps. Like the other side that is a jd2014 dlc. Thats on unlimited
I don't know if this fact would be worth entering the iceberg, but the online game Stardoll even held events where it gave clothes inspired by Just Dance coaches if the player completed a challenge in the event. I remember my user receiving leggings similar to those worn in “Moves like Jagger”.

Great vid! However, the JD 1 - 3 maps are not quite remade "from the ground up". They use the same video recordings as the original, even on the ones that look completely different.
So some maps, they decided to edit the footage in JD4's style instead of JD 1-3 style because the original video footage was good enough for them to do that.
yeah, i just meant the backgrounds and pictograms and everything were basically made new, but the actual coach stayed the same
I THINK venusb has that name, since there are 2 versions of the song, the one performed by Shocking Blue and the Bananarama version. I guess they put that so there's no confusion between artists.
There is a song called Venus that was supposed to be in Just Dance Wii, maybe the B was put in to differentiate the two?
B could also stand for Bananarama, the artist.

Omg!! So cool that CUTIE HONEY - by Kumi Koda is in Just Dance Japan! If I had known when I had access to a Wii that played backups I totally wouldn't have given it a shot, I love her cover of that song.
I remember when Ubisoft suddenly created these guidelines for players of Just Dance on how they would upload their footage of their gameplay to their channel. Like one rule is that the gameplay footage must be like on the side and much smaller in the video and the main focus is a footage of you/the player dancing on it. Most gameplay footage before that was uploaded here on TH-cam is just basically the Actual Gameplay footage captured from their console. I don't know why they would probably release that... Maybe Copyright concerns or whatever.

i just miss mashups in general. they were such a good way to see coaches in previous games without having to rely on subscription services or old games. plus when they started adding themes to them they became even cooler

First i wanna say i loved this video and thank you for all the work u put into it. Secondly... Was anyone else incredibly scared of the just dance coaches when they were a kid?? Like i remember wanting to cry when I did the im an albatraoz dance. The neon white skin without a face creeped me OUT!!! (lowkey it was even scarier when they did show the face omfg)
One interesting thing that wasn't mentioned was songs that were scrapped in earlier years and then had new releases either with more polish or an entirely different concept:
There was a Katy Perry VIP for the song 'I Love It' that seemed to not come to fruition.
Run the World (Girls) was intended to release in JD 2021, but was held back to 2022
and a lot of songs got delayed or scrapped and later released in just dance 2023, like 'Driver's licence' (Originally going to be in JD2022), Boy with Luv (Originally going to appear in JD2020 with different coaches and map), and Rather Be (Originally going to appear in JD 2015, there is little to no information about it but it is safe to assume it was also going to have a very different appearance).
A more recent iteration of this is Sweet Dreams that seems to be featured in the background of 'If you want to party' in JD 2023, but has not been released yet, and 'Love again', which is also referenced in advertising and early promotion for JD 2023, but has not yet been released, however both of these choreographies in full are leaked online.

In Greatest Hits, you could get Baby Girl and Katti Kalandal with different codes on your controller like with Barbra Straisand Exreme
In JD2014, We Can't Stop was occasionally made available for minutes at a time randomly, but was never officially released
And the numerous Beta songs that were missed, like Man Down

There is one song from Just Dance Wii U that went to Just Dance Unlimited. And that song is EZ DO DANCE. However, it’s only in the Japanese servers of Just Dance Unlimited.

Trying to remember if there was anything you could mention that you didn't hit here hmmmm - all that comes to mind is the bizarre history of horrible song covers and the one or two times where they revealed that a song wouldn't be a cover and it ended up being a cover anyway in the final release - also the times when a song got fake leaked and ended up being in a later game anyway (dragostea din tei JD2014 comes to mind) also just the history of all the WEIRD leaks that most of us just believed for some reason early on lmao
OOOH also those behind the scenes they did for the gameplays in JD2016 and then literally never did again (like on the gameplay videos themselves they would talk a bit about the map/idea beforehand or after the gameplay trailer)
also maps that were in the promotional material for a game but didn't release until quite a bit after a game's launch like Sax in JD2018
also that Dame Tu Cosita song that got removed from the main game of JD2018? because it was inappropriate but it still made it in to unlimited so ?????
also that Drake song that got erased from existence fairly soon after the JD2019 release
also the uncanny valley of the cgi dancers (shaky shaky, chandelier, bangarang, etc.)
also in the remakes for the old maps in unlimited, some of the choreo take versions changed? like the Move Your Feet guy now messes up one of the moves towards the end, or does it differently or something like that
