I didn't even know there were so many JD rip-offs lol. Definitely a much needed video that (I think) no one had ever done. Good job! also the Big Time Rush game looks straight out of a 2001 PC game lmao it looks SO BAD
I'm still watching the video and I don't know if you mention it or not, but if you didn't, I think you should have mentioned the Pretty Cure dance game that was released in 2013, Pretty Cure All Stars Everyone Gather Let's Dance. It's not that big of a Just Dance clone, but it *was* released at the height of Just Dance's popularity so I guess it could be seen as cashing in on the trend. It does have bonus points of being an official Pretty Cure game so it uses official choreos for most of the dances, and it does have an unique gimmick of having multiple different combinations of characters/coaches for the songs. It does make me wish Ubisoft collaborated with Toei and Bandai to actually bring Pretty Cure to Just Dance, given they're still cranking out ending themes with official choreographies and Ubisoft put out that Yo-Kai Watch Just Dance spin-off from a couple years ago.
I just so happened to look that up. Wow, i guess a Pretty Cure just dance does exist for real. Tho I'm having doubts a song from the show would ever be in the game. Unless if it's DANZEN! Futari wa Pretty Cure if a Crunchyroll season was ever planned similar to the Disney season
One thing that I've always loved from Dance Central is the "Rehearse mode", which has slow motion and recording functions to compare ourselves with the character and see if we're doing a move correctly. In addition, it has a "coach" type (voiced by Usher), who explains every move to be performed. I know there isn't footage from it, but I think that should've been mentioned here as well, as it was a helpful mode that every dance game must have, mostly for hard choreographies. Btw, thank you for featuring my footage from 1:36 to 1:52 to explain the menu functions. Nice video.
@Gadelyva oh that sounds really interesting! I think a rehearse mode is something all dance games should have, it's definitely helpful to get info from someone who's played the games before. But no no, thank you so much for providing the footage! It was very useful in learning more. I appreciate your support 🐼💙
I have played both Dance Central and Just Dance. I have to say that I do prefer Dance Central over Just Dance as, like you said, you can choose between difficulties and coaches. I own the first three installments of DC, as I only have an Xbox 360 and not an Xbox One or so. The Nickelodeon dance game you mentioned is actually fun to play. We borrowed a copy from the library back in the days and we loved it. You know I really wanted the K-Pop Dance Festival game? I loved it back then and I wanted a copy of it 😢.

I think the rip-off problem that the JD trend had is the same problem that answers why the music videogame genre is nowhere to be found nowadays. I mean, its the same thing that happens when DDR, Singstar & the Guitar Hero/Rock Band rivalry were big at the time. These C-class studios think that only replicating whats popular, only investing in a good songlist and then just making the most halfass game just to getting people into buying this, making them think that is the real big game that everyone is talking about, when its not, is going to making them rich. This is a big problem in general in the casual gaming industry, and the reason why Wii was full of shovelware at the end of its run. I mean, many of the games featured on this video were on Wii so 🤷.
I remember when there were a billion plastic mats attempting to replicate DDR as ghetto Simon Says or had the audacity to be played FOR DDR on consoles. Everyone wants to strike gold/oil but have zero plans lined up.
@fortunes_youtube I am from the Just Dance generation and I never grow up with the DDR series, but I remember having as a 3-4 years old child a bootleg copycat of the game (i think they gave us that game because of my older sister), not a console version of the game because I only get a console per se (a PS2 btw) when I was 6, but a real ripoff of the game in a mini console. And from what I remember, it was the most loathing thing I ever played as a infant. Even I remember the NES 30 games on 1 console ripoff we had with more nostalgia because it had very good emulations of games of that era, especially I loved playing Circus Charlie when I was a child.

I remember playing this mobile game in 2018 called Cheze and it was pretty much a mix of TikTok and Just Dance, the app had not many songs and there weren't many songs, one that I played a lot was Shape Of You. The gameplay was pretty odd it was like the style of piano tap or whatever the app is called when the pictogram scroll down and you have to match them and it was only like 10 to 15 seconds we're at the end you could score with A, B, C, D, F. That's the best I can do to explain because I suck at explaining

i think the reason for such crappy rip-offs are the massive costs you need for everything like almost every coach in all of the 40 songs have diffrent outfits every year also the amount of time and effort you need to just make a concept for a song is incredible. I think that many big companies are not into that, they would rather make a quick cash grab that satisfies their wallets. At this time and moment i think just dance is by far the best dancing game of all time and the only game that comes close to that is dance central especially dance central 3. Those two are the most enjoyable to play for me.
I played a lot of Everybody Dance in my childhood, it was fun because it showed the music video while you danced and the songlist was really good because there were a lot of songs that weren't in Just Dance yet, the choreographies weren't bad if you chose a pro mode and the menu was really nice and modern, but I have to admit that the characters were practically realistic and that scared me although seeing how now the characters in Just Dance are also realistic and with the uncanny valley effect I don't think it's a bad time to play Everybody Dance again
