    I've been binge watching these videos for a few days now. It's unbelievable how valuable your channel and your videos are for someone like me who's still figuring out what types of paints and brands to use for airbrushing and how to take care of the airbrush itself. Prices have been raising pretty badly where I live so I'd have to pay an exorbitant amount of money if I tried just a quarter of the stuff you've tested, and the tests themselves are really well done and always show the thing that picked my interest in the product. Hopefully your channel keeps growing as it deserves so much more

    I always wipe out the cup first, before I do anything else, that way I get rid of most of the paint, and then I start my cleaning process. I will definitely give this a try. I pull the needle back to make sure there is no paint still on the needle. Thanks.

I have been enjoying model cars, but spending a small fortune on spray cans, so figured id take the plunge, get into more types of modeling, maybe sell on what i make. In it more for the enjoyment to be honest. Thank you for your videos. They really help. I was looking at thinners, flow improvers, loads of other stuff that adds up, then I save myself with window cleaner and hot water, happy out. I did buy some flow improver anyways to see. I think it's good not to involve the cleaner between colors if you can help it as residual cleaner might affect your next paint and I also wonder if cleaner will eventually affect your airbrush seals. Most of my tips will more than likely work for your airbrush as mine is almost identical to yours. Just get used to minor disassemble of the brush as cleaning between colors is a must. I actually enjoy cleaning mine cause I have it down to a science. You don't have to remove the nozzle, just flush the paint through, then back wash it. After you back wash it, dump out that dirty liquid, don't blow it back through the brush. Put in clean thinner and flush that. Then pull the needle out, wipe it and put it back. That's it. Should only take you 3 to 5 minutes. Keep me posted how it's going and let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you so much for the great feedback.

      A 3mm is great for all around if you choose one size but optimal would be to have 2 sizes like I do for my Harder & Steenbeck. I have a 2mm and a 4mm. The 2 for the details and the 4 for the larger areas such as car bodies and tanks.

    Mr Rex, quick question, have u ever used the Vallejo Model Air - White color? Been having issues with this particular color. All other VMA colors have been fantastic and I've used them hand brushing without even thinning and fantastic results. I've recently tried aribrushing, same thing no issues with VMA except for white. I use the same ratio of color+thinner and the white clogged up my airbrush. All other colors didnt. When i hand brush the white, it's very chalky. any thoughts? or recommendation using other brands for white?

      Not really. It will do some cleanning but you will still have built up residue inside your nozzle.

  • @Greyhoundsniper
    @Greyhoundsniper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Quick note cleaning a AB with vallejo's thinner is not a good idea, it can clean some scraps of paint but since thinner is for drying a paint faster it'll do the same thing in hard to reach places like the nozzle.
    So if your gonna clean vallejo paint off use his hot water trick or vallejo's proprietary AB cleaner (also if you guys are sensitive like me to toxic cleaners like from mr color vallejo's cleaner smell more like lysol lemon spray so no need to worry of any fumes making u high)

    • @joek600
      @joek600 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Vallejo thinner like all the acrylic thinners is basically dilluted pigment carrier (acrylic resin). So its imposible to actually clean the airbrush if the color is dried. If the color is wet it will just wash it away like water (cold) would do, but the only thing you achieve is to get rid of colored acrylic and replace it with transparent (the thinner).

  • @malethor8822

    There is another way yo clean with hot water. After the two first steps to remove the hard dirt, you can fill the sink with warm water, then you put the airbrush into the water until the cup. Then you spray for half a minute and you got It completely clean.

    • @barbatosrex9473
      @barbatosrex9473  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any acrylic. I use this technique on all my acrylics. If it's a solvent based acrylic like Tamiya you should use a combination of this and a solvent airbrush cleaner. The hot water technique works with Vallejo, AK Interactive, Ammo by Mig, Mission Model Paints, Humbrol and Model Master Acrylics. You can tell what type of acrylics you are using by looking at the label on the bottle, if you see a flame logo then it has a solvent in it, if you don't see a flame on the bottle you can use this technique. Hope this helps.

      Certain types of nozzles like mine let's you just loosen it to cause the back flow, others you just cover it. Don't forget to dump out the water after the back flow, you don't want to fluch that dirty back flow water back thru the brush. Back flow, dump it then refill with clean water and flush again
