    @FarmerKenny 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wrighty fabulous! Great effort from a standing start and half the price of an AEM Easydrum. You are sounding like an RDF convert. Had a thought for my own when I get it up and running - after a few days cleaning run the outlet clean water through some filter wool for say 24 hours, that will let you see how much very fine dirt is not being collected. Just an idea.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello mate, I think I have been converted lol. I have to say I love it. That's a good idea but do we need to go any finer. My water is crystal and that's good for me. I have heard if you go too fine it can make it difficult to treat the pond if needed. I suppose it would tell us what were missing. Thanks for the input mate, Terry

    • @FarmerKenny
      @FarmerKenny 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me it would be interesting to see how clean the RDF makes the water so I would do the wool test for myself. For you it was just a suggestion for one of your videos, (since everyone keeps asking for more).

  • @ItsAlleged
    @ItsAlleged 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm jealous of the RDF! looks like it is working quite well. I just did my first full fill on my pond today!
    (I used a slightly modified version of your barrel filters)

    • @Wrighty

      Thank you, hope all goes well for you and your pond, Terry.

    • @ItsAlleged
      @ItsAlleged 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is up and running! I just need to install the coping. One problem I am having is that there is a fairly strong humming sound coming from the moving bed barrel. The vibration can be felt when you touch the side of the barrel. Is there any trick to getting rid of this? It is new media; maybe it will sort itself out once it starts to fluidize?
      Thanks!

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stuart, Thanks mate. I never thought I'd find anything to beat the Pro filter as I think it gives better results than the Nexus. But with this RDF and new mesh fitted it's blown me away. you could probably tell from the video lol. I'm in the clear with the hoover now. It packed up this week and had to get a new one. Mind you there is an attachment on that I'm looking at lol. Thanks mate, Terry.

  • @DaveGolf1st

    Really can't wait for the plans chap. I must admit you have done a fantastic job and as a fellow DIYer I would seriously love a go at this. Will it include links to where you bought the Mesh and things?

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dave, This is why the plans are taking so long. I have video of every step that go with the plans and I am adding all the links to the parts and price. The plans also include pictures of every step as you go. It's just a bit of a nightmare sorting it all out lol. I'm trying to make it as easy to follow as possible. I'm on the end of an email if you need help at all as well. The thing is with this RDF it's nothing like the other filters that could be made once you had the parts in a couple of days. this is going to take a bit longer mate, but well worth it in the end. Terry.

    • @DaveGolf1st
      @DaveGolf1st 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Terry, I know this is not like anything you have produced before. I have a DIY Nexus on one of my ponds and a a DIY Bakki shower on my indoor pond. However I don't have the knowledge to produce a RDF without extensive research which I am sure you had to carry out. I watched your first unavailing of this and went straight to your website to buy the plans lol I appreciate you want it right before offering it to us and I will be patient. Luckily in this video I see its a Wiper Motor from a vehicle and as the owner of a Vehicle Dismantlers I have plenty of those so that's one box ticked. Will let you get back to the plans and thanks for taking the time to respond. DB

    do you suggest not putting gravel or rocks on the bottom of the pond? I see a lot of ponds that have them but you opt not to, just wondering why. Thanks! Nick.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, They do tend to do this more in the US than in the UK There is a lot of for and against in putting stone all the way down into a pond. I don't have stone and I can clean my pond in 30 minutes with my pond vac. To clean a stoned pond out, its fish out, a drain down and a pressure washer. Plus all that dirt is in your pond causing pollution for months. But it is really a matter of choice. thanks, Terry.

    I cant believe the difference that mesh made Terry, bloody incredible; what was the difference in filtration/micron weave of that 2nd mesh?

    • @Wrighty

      Hi Gav, I've gone up another 125 micron. I couldn't believe the difference in my water in 24 hours. Wow! Thanks mate, Terry.

      Terry forgot to ask what biological filtration have you got hooked up to pond at the moment, is the RDF feeding into a fluidised bed ?

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mate, I have the RDF flowing into a moving bed with about 100 ltr of K1 in it. You can see it in my last video th-cam.com/video/YHQnm4lsGeA/w-d-xo.html I also got the boxes yesterday for making a trickle filter to add to the pond. Thanks, Terry.

    • @user-vy3tr8ik2p
      @user-vy3tr8ik2p 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive got a memory like an RDF sieve Terry, sorry totally forgot about that separate fluid bed. How are the levels doing in pond with the fluid bed coming on for intervals only during the day.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mate, I must admit I'm getting slight ammonia and nitrite readings, but they are only small. The thing is I've not had them before, so I think I'm going back to air 24/7 there's 100 ltr of media in the moving bed so should be plenty. I've been wanting to make a trickle filter for ages so I got the boxes yesterday and will have a go at making one of them. Thanks, Terry.

    Could fibreglass the inside of the box, can get whole kits off ebay with everything needed. Or build it at the same time as a custom fibreglass lined pond and get them done together.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mikey, It could be fiber glassed, but the pond paint is really good as it's a 2 pack acrylic paint and easier to use. Have you seen this video? th-cam.com/video/dS6AJL3CAt0/w-d-xo.html Thanks, Terry.

    What is that turning drum filtering device? How does it work? Very intersting.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Luis, It's a Rotary Drum filter. There the latest thing in pond filtration. There a self cleaning pond filter. The water flows into the first chamber through the mesh and out the other side. once the drum starts to block it triggers a switch that sets the drum cleaning mechanism into action. A motor turns the drum and 4 spray jets blast water through the mesh and clean it. If you do a search for pond RDF or rotary drum filter here on TH-cam, there's a lot of videos showing them. Terry.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lee, It was just a small camera I've had kicking around for several years. I can't remember where I got it, sorry. I just got a piece of plastic tube that fitted over the microscope, shaped a piece of wood to fit into the end of the tube and drilled a hole in the center so the camera fitted into it. I have looked down the microscope with my phone, so I would think any small camera will do. Hope this helps. Terry.

      @Wrighty  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris, I will be releasing the plans for the RDF very soon and they will be on my website diypondfilters.com the mechanics of the system are quite simple. The water flows into on end of the drum and as the mesh blocks the water rises and triggers the cleaning cycle. Hope this helps. Thanks, Terry.

      Hi Ian, Just do a web search for crop spraying nozzles. There are loads of company's out there. With the mesh, it's really am mater of what you prefer. some like to use the 60 micron and some like to use the 70 micron. It's the same with the company's that make the RDF's. Yeah but I'd rather see nothing tbh Maybe when the weather heats up a bit, you can try again. Brilliant job you've done there, congratulations, and keep the videos coming, thanks.

      Your absolutely right mate. I'd have been well upset if I'd have seen 20 flukes lol. Thanks mate, Terry

      Wrighty All you need now it's a couple of jets in the pond to move around the fish wast. .. I have them on my pond I call them bottom floor jets .. it clear the floor and the filters take over the cleaning process .. it works very well for me ... I have 2 different systems on my pond ... first system is just filters ... and the second system I use all natural spring well water .... I pump water from the well in to the filters to the pond and back in to the ground .... so I'm using the natural sand and rocks in the earth ground as one of my filters system .... your system it's very good Nice Work ! looks very Nice .. and very easy to keep clean ... 😎

      Sounds like quite a system you've got there. Where I have my pond return the pond slopes from there down to the bottom drain and the fish waste gets carried with it. Thanks, Terry.
