Águas da Amazônia is a 1993-99 musical composition by the American contemporary classical composer Philip Glass. Its first recording was performed by the Brazilian instrumental group Uakti. Four of the original nine movements were arranged for percussion by Third Coast Percussion,
a Grammy-award-winning group from Chicago, IL. The second movement is named after Brazil’s “Madeira River,” the largest tributary to the Amazon.
V.R. Eaton’s production of "Madeira River" adds live audio processing and dance choreographed by EHS color guard director Andrew Plott.
